Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.’s (“Volkswagen”) and Audi of America, Inc. (“Audi”) have reportedly agreed to a class action settlement of a lawsuit filed against them in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey styled Sager et al. v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., Civil Action Case No. 2:18-cv-13556, alleging, among other things, that the Electric (After-Run) Coolant Pump in certain Audi vehicles contains a defect that could potentially lead to a malfunction and is the subject of certain recalls. Defendants reportedly denied any wrongdoing.

Who Is Included In The Audi Electric Coolant Pump Class Action Settlement?

The Audi Electric Coolant Pump class action settlement reportedly includes, unless otherwise excluded, the following settlement class:

All persons and entities who purchased or leased a Settlement Class Vehicle, as defined in Section I(P) of [the Settlement] Agreement, in the United States of America and Puerto Rico.

Settlement Class Vehicles means the following model and model year Audi vehicles equipped with a 2.0L Turbo TFSI “EA888 Evo 2” engine and an Electric (After-Run) Coolant Pump, imported and distributed by Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. for sale or lease in the United States and Puerto Rico:

(i) Model Year 2013 through 2016 Audi A4 Sedan & Allroad;
(ii) Model Year 2013 through 2017 Audi A5 Sedan & Cabriolet;
(iii) Model Year 2013 through 2017 Audi Q5; and
(iv) Model Year 2012 through 2015 Audi A6.

What Settlement Benefits Does The Audi Class Action Lawsuit Settlement Provide?

The Audi class action lawsuit settlement reportedly provides various settlement benefits, including a warranty extension to cover repair or replacement by an authorized Audi dealer of a failed turbocharger (during certain specified time and mileage periods), reimbursement for certain past unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses for repairs or replacement of an electric after-run coolant pump, and reimbursement for certain past unreimbursed paid one-day rental car expense while recall 1902 (i.e., the Replacement of the Electric After-Run Coolant Pump) was being performed by an authorized Audi dealer

In order to request reimbursement benefits under the Audi settlement, class members must, no later than June 26, 2021, submit Repair/Replacement Reimbursement Claim Forms and/or Rental Car Expense Reimbursement Claim Forms.
