IKEA Class Action Settlement Of FACTA Credit Card or Debit Card Receipt Lawsuit

If you made a purchase at an IKEA retail location using a credit card or debit card between October 18, 2017 and December 31, 2019, you may be enitled to benefits from the IKEA FACTA class action lawsuit settlement.

IKEA North America Services, LLC and IKEA U.S. Retail, LLC (collectively “IKEA”) have reportedly agreed to a settlement of a class action lawsuit filed against them in the Circuit Court of Cook County Illinois, styled as Richardson, et al. v. Ikea North America Services, LLC, et al. , Case No. 2021CH05392, alleging, among other things, that IKEA willfully violated FACTA by printing point-of-sale receipts for credit card and debit card transactions at its retail locations that displayed more than the last five digits of the card number in violation of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681c(g)(1) et seq. (“FACTA”).

IKEA reportedly denies these allegations and denies any wrongdoing.

Who Is Included In The IKEA FACTA Class Action Settlement?

The IKEA FACTA class action settlement reportedly includes, unless otherwise excluded, the following settlement class: All persons in the United States who, between October 18, 2017 and December 31, 2019 engaged in one or more transactions using a debit card or credit card at any IKEA retail store within the
United States, and was thereupon provided an electronically printed receipt displaying the first six (6) and the last four (4) digits of the credit or debit card number used in connection with such transaction(s).

What Settlement Benefits Does The IKEA FACTA Class Action Lawsuit Settlement Provide?

Under the IKEA FACTA lawsuit settlement, IKEA will reportedly pay $24,250,000.00 into a fund (the “Settlement Fund”), which will cover: (1) payments to Settlement Class Members who submit timely and valid Claim Forms; (2) an award of attorneys’ fees to Class Counsel; (3) Class Counsel’s reasonable expenses; (4) an Incentive Payment to both of the Plaintiffs, as approved by the Court; and (5) the costs of notice and administration of the Settlement.

To receive a settlement payment, IKEA Settlement Class Members must submit a settlement Claim Form online or via mail by May 4, 2023.
