On June 24, 2021, a class action lawsuit complaint was reportedly filed in the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida (styled Manuel Drezner et. al., v. Champlain Towers South Condominium Association, Inc., Class Action Case No. 2021-015089-CA-01) alleging, among other things, that the Champlain Towers South Condominium Association failed to secure and safeguard the lives and property of Plaintiff and proposed class members when the 12-story and approximately 135-unit condominium building at Champlain Towers South (at 8777 Collins Avenue, Surfside, Florida 33154) suffered a catastrophic collapse.
