Benecol® Spread and Benecol® Light Spread Purchasers File Class Action Lawsuit Against Johnson & Johnson & McNeil Nutritionals Over Cholesterol Claims.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Johnson & Johnson (“Johnson & Johnson” or “J&J”) and McNeil Nutritionals, LLC (“McNeil Nutritionals” or McNeil”) (collectively “Johnson & Johnson” or “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California (styled Robert Reid v. Johnson & Johnson and McNeil Nutritionals, LLC), alleging, among other things, that Defendants manufacture and sell Benecol® Spread and Benecol® Light Spread, vegetable oil spreads like margarine, which Johnson & Johnson allegedly falsely represents as a functional food Proven to Reduce Cholesterol because it contains plant stanol esters chemical compounds believed to reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in blood, according to the Johnson & Johnson & McNeil Nutritionals Benecol Spread & Benecol Light Spread class action lawsuit complaint.

The Johnson & Johnson & McNeil Nutritionals Benecol Spread & Benecol Light Spread class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of a putative class consisting of the following persons:

All persons (exclusing Defendants’ officers, directors, and employees) who purchased Benecol® Spread and Benecol® Light Spread on or after January 1, 2000, in the United States, for their own or household use, rather than resale distribution. (the “Restitution Class”); and

All persons (exclusing Defendants’ officers, directors, and employees) who commonly purchase or are in the market for Benecol® Spread and Benecol® Light Spread in the United States for their own or household use, rather than resale or distribution. (the “Injunctive Relief Class”)

    After more than 8 Container , I give up . It is not working .I buy
    my own Cholesterol test strips and equipment .

    I am very upset reading about this lawsuit. I have been using Benecol for many years paying almost $5.00 a tub. This is an outrageous fleecing of people who are trying to maintain their health.
