I would like to join this class action. I did a people search for 1.95, and since then, Intelius has been charging my debit card 19.95 regularly for ID protection that I never requested. Ive tried to cancel it twice now and still they charge me. I called the phone number, and its automated. They owe me 60. dollars so far.

      Hi Erica,

      Try this number 1-888-445-2727…good luck!

Do not call 888-445-2727 – this is the Intelius customer support # – they cannot and will not help you. Instead join the class action lawsuit or contact the executives of the company directly both by voice and email. Here is how you do it. Email address format is typically first initial last name @intelius.com ie. CFO Paul Cook is pcook@intelius.com To get them on the phone you cannot use the main # as this goes to an automated attendant with no way to dial out. To get an executive directly use their main phone number of (425) 974-6100 and substitute the last 4 numbers with extensions 6101 through 6115 (may be others beyond that but this is a start). Don’t bother with x6105 as this goes to EVP John K. Arnold who is now spending 45 days in Federal prison for lying to a Grand Jury about having sex at one of Frank Colacurcio’s strip clubs.

        Bill Owens, Chairman, Age 69
        • Naveen Jain, President & CEO, Age 49, $276,250 annual salary
        • Paul T. Cook, CFO, Age 46, $174,984 annual salary
        • Kevin R. Marcus, CTO, Age 34
        • Jim Adler, Chief Privacy Officer
        • William R. Kerr, Chief Corporate Officer and Director, Age 54, $100,000 annual salary
        • Susan K. Koehler, Chief Marketing Officer
        • John K. Arnold, EVP Business Development, Age 45 – in Federal prison for lying about having sex at strip club
        • Edward O. Petersen, EVP Sales and Marketing, Age 37, $167,500 annual salary
        • Niraj A. Shah, EVP Engineering, Age 38
        • Chandan S. Chauhan, SVP Product Marketing, Age 51 (one of the key individuals responsible for this nonsense free trial)
        • William H. Beaver Jr., VP and General Counsel, Age 54, $200,000 salary (note the attorney is one of the highest paid execs here!)
        • Irina Z. Leversee, Controller

I would be happy to join the class action suit if I don’t get my money back soon. I called to speak with a manager about nearly $180 in charges to my credit card sparked by a 99 cent background search. What they are doing is very deceptive!

  • Ana Thompson August 17, 2010, 5:52 pm

I would be intrested in it as well. I heard that we won the lawsuit and they have to pay us back along with shutting down their site… Where do I go to get my money back??? Thanks
    Ana

I was unlawfully charged as well. Exactly when do they shut down their site? It seems that since the information is completely wrong half the time even the product the claim to offer is questionable and makes them guilty of false advertising I don’t care where they claim they get their information from. It seems that in itself should be grounds for the shutting down of their website. Third party sharing is the cause for all kinds of misinterpretations present.

I just found this link and learned of the site. I would very much like to learn more. I have more than $500 accumulated — and unauthorized — charges from 24ProtectPlus because I once ordered a background check on a roommate from Intellius.

If the lawsuit has already been won, what about those of us who are just now hearing of this, are being charged and wish to file a new class action lawsuit? Also, and so very important for people to know: HALF OR ALL OF WHAT YOU GET FROM INTELIUS IS COMPLETELY INCORRECT. DO NOT USE THIS AS A RELIABLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION.

  • Courtney May 1, 2011, 8:19 pm

I would like to know how I can get my money back also. I am having the same problem.

  • Jane June 20, 2011, 8:46 am

I made a one time charge to get my aunt’s address so I could write her and found when I checked my card the following week that Intelius had repetitively charged my card up to the amount of $54.80. I called to have the charges removed and they claimed I had signed up for “identity protection” and “credit reporting” and “credit problem correction.” This is total BS and they refused to refund my money.
If they are involved in a lawsuit, how can they continue to steal one’s credit card numbers and continue to fraudulently charge my card?

I’d like to be able to opt out of sites like this who are making money selling my info w/o my consent. I shouldn’t have to fork over any ID to get off their list. A simple request to do not list should suffice.

What gives companies like this the right to sell my info to any Tom, Dick & Harry willing to pay a fee? Should be illegal.

  • Steve July 31, 2011, 2:43 pm

Please, someone force them to include a simple do not list request on their site. During this time of ID theft & employers researching applicants, a site like this even just listing your age can keep you from getting an interview. Unemployed people over a 35 are suppose to starve while companies like this make money from out info w/o our permission?

Spokeo also posts a photo of your home so even if you don’t list it anywhere people can find it via your name, email addresse etc.

I’ve never posted my personal info anywhere & my phone # & address was unlisted for a couple of decades yet Intellius still gives it out. Should be illegal for companies to give our your personal info and profit from it no less.

  • Julie August 10, 2011, 9:18 pm

I just found out they’ve been scamming me too. Any recommendations?

  • Reggie Wagner August 15, 2011, 5:03 pm

I want to add my voice and complaint to those already listed. My story is the very same as theirs, except that I have left the meter running, so to speak, for far longer than most. It is impossible to cancell one’s subscription by any manner recommended on the Intellius website. Now, when I open up their site, it takes me IMMEDIATELY

  • Reggie Wagner August 15, 2011, 5:05 pm

(part 2) to my acount page, where no information can be changed or deleted.

  • Allan Kara February 7, 2012, 10:24 pm

I just came across multiple 19.95 charges that have been going on since Nov 2011 for a total of $180.00. They started after I did a .99 cent phone number search for an unknown number on my phone bill. I’ve already filed a dispute with my cc company who is closed at the moment. I am furious after reading how many times this has happened to others and yet they continue to steal from peoples credit card accounts.

  • Janet S. June 15, 2013, 10:11 am

Three months ago, I used my credit card to purchase a single report for $1.95. When my credit card statement came I noticed Intelius charged me $20 a month (recurrent monthly charges). My credit card company couldn’t help me and told me I agreed to this subscription. I never agreed to anything !! All I wanted to purchase was a single report. It took Intelius 3 months to stop charging me. They refused to give me a refund. I’m so mad I want to sue them. Intelius is still engaged in this dishonest practice. Ripping off customers. I would like to join the next class action lawsuit. Intelius is not a business it’s a scam.
