Beck’s Furniture Grocery Rebate Class Action Lawsuit Filed

Class Action Lawsuit Filed AgainstBeck’s Furniture Over Free Grocery Rebate Promotion

A class action lawsuit was filed against Beck’s Furniture in Sacramento Superior Court in California (Marsha Davis and Marie Villafuerte v. Beck’s Furniture, Case No. 34-2010-00075385), alleging that Beck’s Furniture engaged in unfair competition, false advertising, negligent misrepresentation and fraud in the marketing and advertising of its free grocery promotion, according to a class action press release.

The Beck’s Furniture class action complaint reportedly alleges that Beck’s Furniture advertisement stated that if a customer purchased $497 in furniture they would receive $500 in free groceries, but did not disclose the fact that there was an initial fee of $9.95 to enroll in the program or that only $25 worth of groceries could allegedly be redeemed per month.

I am also a victim of this scam. I have filed with the bbb, ftc, consumer affairs, and the attorney general. Please contact me if you need additional information. I would like to be updated of the progress of this class action suit. Thank You…

This also happened to me with the $600 dollars. After I paid the $9.95, the grocery rebate company told me I was no longer eligible because I didn’t send zerox of my driver’s license. Beck’s also told me the same things…the company shut down and that they’d still honor my rebate. I’m very upset by all of this. How do I get involved in this class action law suit?

We too were duped by this Beck’s scam, on two separate purchases, and would like to be included in this class cation lawsuit. Please advise how we can do so.

    Thanks.

Add one more unsatisfied customer, I was also a victim of this rip off. I was supposed to receive gift cards up to $600.00 in groceries/gas cards with proof of purchase; as I spent almost $3000 on furniture. I sent in all my receipts, one year later, I am still waiting for my gas cards only to find out that the companies went bankrupt. When I attempted to resolve the situation with Beck’s customer service, I was treated rudely and the Beck’s rep cold transferred me into the managers voicemail who never called me back. I was given 3 new options which all cost more money. Becks Furniture is no longer my furniture store, no integrity, honor, or customer value in that store.

I would like to know how to get involved in the class action suit against Becks Furniture I was given a 500 dollar rebate form which i started the process and mailed the 9.95 a month later the company went out of business and mind you i had already been four months since i had bought furniture because becks didn’t manage to give me the information about how i was suppose to receive the 500 dollar rebate for over two months then i received two additional rebate forms for 600 dollars each one for groceries and the other for gas both with the new company that took over after the first one went out of business i sent my 9.95 in for each one and sent in all required paper work for several months then they went out of business becks said not our fault i told them i don’t care my contract was with becks not the other companies the contract was i buy furniture and i get money from them for groceries and/or gas and they were to either give me what they owed or i would also except them coming to my house and pickup the furniture and returning all the money i had given them there answer was don’t contact us we gave you the rebate forms we have no further obligations to you and the furniture is yours and the were very rude and disrespectful on the phone several months later i received a letter in the mail saying that they were giving everyone that was suppose to receive the gas and/or grocery rebates a discount of either 10 or 20 percent discount off on their next purchase and the discount would only apply to the first 3000 dollars of purchase it has been awhile since i got the letter so i don’t remember the exact amount they were offering do discount the next purchase but i know it wasn’t more than 20 percent my response was are you kidding do you really think i would do business with your company again after the first time i didn’t get the discount i was suppose to receive and to make up for that bad faith deal were your company didn’t give the discount you really think i would buy more furniture from your company again so that i could receive some of the money that i was suppose to get the first time to me that is just stupid you get the sale the first time and don’t honor your word and then you want me to trust you and give you additional money so that i can get back some of what you already owe me that is crazy how about you just give me what was promised to me when i made the first purchase it just sounds like they are running a scam so they can get people to come back so they can make more money and the customers just keep getting taken advantage of they just need to give everyone what was promised plus the additional money that was paid to the rebate company and/or companies for processing rebate claims as well as postage and long distance phone charges for having to call them which did no good they should also have to give everyone additional compensation for all of the time they wasted jumping through all the silly requirement hopes that becks and the rebate companies required us to do each month to get a rebate that was never coming

Too good to be true. We purchased a sectional as soon as this promo started, we figured it wasn’t worth a $1000 but with the $500 in rebates it would bring it down to a reasonable price. My wife spent many hours making copies and sending them in and sitting on hold during follow up calls to no avail. Bottom line is this company should either make good on there advertised special or they shouldn’t be doing business anymore. Not to mention this furniture is low quality junk at best. I would love to be a part of this law suit, we still have all of the paperwork and didn’t bite on there “tempting” offer of $50 bucks off or %20 percent off our next purchase or whatever BS they offered us. We will never shop at Beck’s ever again and neither should you.

I too have been scammed by this company. I was offered $500 at first then when I went to claim it the company was out of business. Beck’s then sent me a different company scam where I got $600 in free grocery ($25 a month until the $600 was reached) which I was okay with, but never received a dime.

Can someone help me get in on this class action lawsuit too.

    thanks

  • Cheree January 2, 2011, 7:54 pm

I think we all should go and picket outside their establishments letting other people know what they have done, so they don’t too get scammed like we did.

  • Rebecca February 25, 2011, 2:23 pm

The same thing that happened to Cheree happened to me too. I also want to know how to become part of the class action lawsuit. Has anyone heard anything regarding it lately?

    Thanks

I had a different situation. I tried to submit my rebate online. I followed all the directions but it would not work. When I called the number on the rebate form it was no longer working. When I called the store they sent me to the customer service line where I sat indefinately on hold. I have not been able to even reach someone to find out what they will do about this. The only reason that I even purchased my bed from them was because of the rebate. If there had been no rebate, I would have bought it elsewhere. To top it all off I cant stand the bed, it is so uncomfortable that I wake up hurting terribly every day and I am out bed shopping again after less than a year.

We were also victims of this rip off. I was supposed to receive gift cards up to $600.00 in cards with proof of purchase. I spent almost $10,000 on furniture. When I purchased my furniture the rebate company was going out of business and Becks was looking for another company. I sent my $9.95 fee and all my receipts, never received any cards. After about 4 months I started receiving returned mail from the rebate company. I was offered a 10% discount from Beck’s. Something needs to be done to protect consumers from this kind of FRAUD!!! Please let me know how to get involved in this lawsuit.

    Thanks!

I hope noone is so dum to think that they will receive anything meaningful in a class action lawsuit against Beck’s furniture. The lawyers will get all the money and the consumers will get a coupon. Look at the ford explorer settlement. Been there. .

I am so glad these bastards are getting sued. They lied and treated me like crap. I hope they go out of business.

I am a victim of this scam as well I have contacted the Better Business Bureua 2 years ago, they got in touch with me saying they were contacting the DA and I still have yet to hear from them. How do I go about receiving what was promised to me

  • Angela Ziesman January 3, 2012, 5:17 pm

How is Becks still in business after all this went down? What actions are being taken to get our 500$ grocery voucher AS PROMISED…This is ridiculous.
