Old Republic Title Escrow Fee & Recording Charges Class Action Settlement of Neff v. Old Republic Title Lawsuit

If you were a purchaser or borrower in a real estate transaction in Washington where Old Republic Title provided escrow services and where Old Republic collected an excess recording charge, you may be eligible to recover money from the Old Republic Title Escrow Fee & Recording Charges class action settlement.

Old Republic Title Ltd. (“Old Republic Title” or “Defendant”) has reportedly agreed to a proposed settlement of a class action lawsuit against Old Republic Title in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, Seattle, (styled as Neff v. Old Republic Title, Ltd., Case No. 12-CV-02019-RSL) alleging, among other things, that Old Republic collected excess recording charges from certain escrow customers in real estate transactions in Washington State in which Old Republic provided escrow services, according to the Old Republic Title Escrow Fee & Recording Charges class action settlement notice.

Old Republic Title Escrow Fee & Recording Charges settlement class members reportedly include, unless otherwise excluded, all persons who, between October 16, 2006, and October 18, 2013, were buyers or borrowers in real estate transactions in Washington State in which Old Republic provided escrow services, from whom Old Republic collected and retained excess recording charge.

The Old Republic Title Escrow Fee & Recording Charges settlement reportedly provides, among other things, that Old Republic Title will create a Settlement Fund of $200,000. Old Republic Title Settlement Class Members who submit a valid claim will reportedly be eligible to receive up to $12 for each qualifying Washington State real estate transaction they participated in during the relevant class period.  Old Republic settlement claim forms must be filed no later than January 31, 2014.  Settlement claim forms can be obtained online at www.sgb-law.com/case-updates/old-republic-title-escrow-fee-class-action

    I dealt with Old Republic when I sold my home and bought a condo. I received info that there was a law suit pending but I have not received and money. I dealt with OldRepublic almost a year ago. I sent back yet notification but that’s all that happened

    I forgot about filing when notified of the pending suit. I just received a $12 check from “Old Republic Title Class Action Settlement”. Thought it was a marketing gimmick so didn’t want to cash the check without verifying that it was authentic. I guess it’s for real.
