Social Security Administration Targeted Disability Employee Discrimination Class Action Lawsuit Certificaton Affirmed On Appeal by EEOC.
An October 8, 2008 decision of an Administrative Judge to certify a class action lawsuit pending against Social Security Administration (“Social Security Administration” or “SSA” or “Defendant”) before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Baltimore Division (styled Ronald Jantz, et al. v Michael D. Astrue, Commisioner, Social Security Administration, EEOC Case No. 531-2006-00276X, Agency No. HQ-06-2518-SSA), alleging among other things, that the Social Security Administration SSA discriminates against targeted disability employees (“TDEs”) by creating a glass ceiling and limiting promotional and other career advancement opportunities, and seeking back pay and compensatory damages for lost promotional opportunities, has been affirmed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission EEOC Office of Federal Operations, according to a class action lawsuit news report.
The EEOC Administrative Law Judge reportedly certified the Social Security Administration targeted disability employee discrimination class action lawsuit to include current and former employees with targeted disabilities at the Social Security Administration who have applied for and made a Best Qualified List for promotion, but were not selected for promotion.
Targeted disabilities reportedly may include, among other things, deafness, blindness, paralysis, convulsive disorders, mental illness, mental retardation missing extremities, and genetic and physical conditions affecting the limbs or spine.
