Class Action Lawsuits In Kansas Over Alleged Sale Of Hot Fuel Receive Class Certification.

Two “hot fuel”class action lawsu its pending in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas against oil and fuel company defendants BP, Casey’s General Stores, Chevron, Circle K, Citgo, ConocoPhillips, 7-Eleven, Shell Oil, Valero, Kum & Go, QuikTrip and Wal-Mart alleging that retail fuel was sold by defendants without regard for temperature changes in violation of consumer protection laws, have been certified as class action lawsuits by District Court Judge Kathryn Vratil, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

The hot fuel class action lawsuits reportedly involve the sale of hot fuel, i.e., selling gasoline above the industry standard of 60 degrees without adjusting the volume of a gallon of fuel, which purportedly reduces the amount of energy the fuel contains.

The plaintiffs in the hot fuel class action lawsuits reportedly seek, among other things, a ruling to make automatic temperature compensation mandatory on all retail fuel pumps.
