Court Grants Class Certification In Alleged Gender Discrimination Class Action Lawsuit Against Gristede’s Supermarkets

A class action lawsuit brought by female employees of Gristede’s Supermarkets against the grocery store chain for alleged discrimination and civil rights violations has been certified as a class action by Federal Judge Laura T. Swain of the Southern District of New York, according to a class action press release.

The court reportedly held that there were common issues as to whether Gristede’s hiring, job placement, and promotion practices were based on subjective decision-making that was biased against women.
