Neutrogena Corporation (“Neutrogena” or “Defendant”) has reportedly agreed to a proposed settlement of a class action lawsuit against Neutrogena in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (styled Stephenson v. The proposed Neutrogena Facial Cleanser settlement class reportedly includes, unless otherwise excluded, all persons who purchased at least one of the following products between January 1, 2011 and April 22, 2013: NEUTROGENA® Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser, Purifying Pore Scrub, Face and Body Bar, Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover, Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer, or Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Night Cream.
What Settlement Benefits Does The Proposed Neutrogena Naturals Facial Cleanser Class Action Settlement Provide?
Under the proposed Neutrogena Facial Cleanser class action settlement, Neutrogena will create a settlement fund of up to $1.3 million to pay Class Members’ claims and certain administrative and maintenance costs. Under the settlement class members can recover a cash payment from the settlement fund of $1 for each purchase of the Purifying Facial Cleanser, Purifying Pore Scrub, Face and Body Bar, or Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover and $2 for each purchase of the Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer or Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Night Cream (up to a maximum of $10 per person).
In addition, under the Neutrogena settlement, Neutrogena has agreed to change the labels and advertising for the Naturals products by removing the word “petrochemicals” from the statement “No harsh chemical sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, dyes, phthalates” on the Naturals product labels and/or packages and replacing it with the word “petrolatum”, and adding a statement regarding the percentage of each Neutrogena Naturals product that is naturally derived to the front of the labels and/or packages of the Neutrogena Naturals products.
