Lowe’s Class Action Settlement Announced In Class Action Lawsuit Against Lowe’s Over Alleged Defective Drywall.
A class action settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Lowe’s Home Centers, Inc. (“Lowes” or “Defendant”) pending in Muscogee County Superior Court in Columbus, Georgia (styled Glen Vereen v. Lowe’s Home Centers Inc., Case No. SU10-CV-2267B), alleging that Lowe’s sold defective drywall that gave off a bad odor and tarnishes metal, according to a Lowe’s drywall class action settlement news report.
The Lowe’s drywall class action settlement will reportedly provide $6.5 million, payable mostly in Lowe’s store gift cards, and pay up to $2.16 million in attorneys’ fees. If the Lowe’s Drywall class action settlement receives final court approval, Lowe’s settlement class members reportedly will be able to get Lowe’s store gift cards of $50, $250 or up to a maximum of $2000, depending on how much money they can prove they lost and if Lowe’s settlement class members have receipts and documentation for damages in excess of $2000, they reportedly could get up to $2,500 cash from the proposed settlement.
Muscogee County Superior Court Judge Bobby Peters has reportedly given preliminary approval of the Lowe’s drywall class action settlement and set a class action settlement fairness hearing for November 19, 2010 at 2 p.m., which is also reportedly the deadline for those who have purchased the drywall from Lowe’s to opt out of the Lowe’s class action settlement if they do not wish to participate.

I am a new member to this class action drywall matter as of 10/21/2010. I have purchased large amount of drywall from Lowe’s, abnd it covers the wall in my kitchen, living room and bathroom, and some of the 2nd floor hallway. I have had serious breathing problems without knowing why when in my house, esp. in my bedroom when waking up at night sweating and coughing, choaking, and needing water from the symptoms which apparent has come from this naked drywall that I have not had time to paint in the last 2 years (all of which was purchased from Lowe’s).
I would like for lowe’s to come and clean this drywall out of my house and replace it with good drywall, and compensate me for the agony, breathing problems and everything associated with this mess.
I have ask my credit card company to send me copies of all of the receipts where I purchased materials from lowe’s over the last 2 years.
Whoever counsel is in this matter I would like to have a detail conversation surrounding this matter.
Cordially, Charles E. Dockins

I purchased drywall from the Lowes store in Dickson, TN in October 2010. Shortly after part of it was cut and hung on the walls I noticed a rash covering most of my body. Then the horrible itching began. Then came 2 different medical doctors, 1 Dermatologist and a trip to the emergency room. At one point my eyes swelled almost completely shut. This drywall when cut had a yellow dust coming from it. Not the usual white. This YELLOW dust is a form of MOLD. A MOLD I learned I was highly allergic to. After almost 4 months of pure agony not knowing it was the sheetrock, I returned all 20 pieces (cut and uncut) to the store in Dickson, TN. Only to be told by the Manager in charge that day that I was Lying about the yellow dust and he was not returning my money. The corporate office returned all of my purchase. What about the 4 months of pure HELL this MOLD put me through??? What about the $3,500 in Medical bills that resulted from this tainted material that they knew about???
I have an entire 2nd story addition done in the drywall that is allegedly bad. All I can say is that it smells and my wife’s asthma has been very aggravated since the completion of the project. I don’t know what to do?
We redone our living room, kitchen and den putting up drywall from Lowes a few years ago.(I have all the receipts). There is now mold pooping up all over in different places. I have asthma, and my husband now has heart problems. We feel bad !! I know the drywall is the cause of our medical problems, and we can’t afford to ripe all of this out and leave the walls bear at this time. If you have any help for me please let me know.
