A class action lawsuit was filed against UMB Bank and UMB Financial in the Circuit Court of Jackson County Missouri (Kansas City) alleging that UMB customers in Missouri were charged overdraft fees because of UMB’s alleged unfair and deceptive overdraft fee practices, according to a class action news report.

Just was at UMB this am trying to discuss this very and I mean very exact situation I’m reading about with them about overdraft fees and without any resolution.
Came home after feeling so defeated, googled this subject with this popping up. Glad someone else feels the same way that we are feeling.

OGM!! My husband and I never really looked at our overdraf fees before but since money has gotten tight we have started watching it close they seem to make up rules as they go and always put through the higest debit first as to try and collect the most overdraft fee’s when I started asking questionsat the bank they were very rude. It funny I have been a customer for a long timee and as long as I never asked any questions they were fine but boy did there mood change when I questioned them. I find it strange that my highest debits always come through first ??? : )
Same thing happened to me. When I would call them on my overdraft charges because of how they were paying my debits from highest to lowest they were very rude. Sometimes I would get someone nice and understanding but most of the time NOT! I can’t even imagine how many overdraft charges I had with UMB in this time frame. I am glad that something is finally being done, they made so much money off of thier customers because of this I am quite sure. I also was a very long time customer with them not anymore. Thankful to say I also have not had a overdraft charge in a while with my new bank because I am in a better situation in my life….I do not even care how much it is it is the point!!!

omg its been around 3 years that this happed to me it was my first bank account i opeded and i regret so much doing it with this bank i was in a car accident my viechle was a total loss i went to open a checking account there and my nightmare started i started reciving overdraft fees i had over 7000 in my account and my fees just kept going even when i had money on my account my expierence was awfull since then i dont have a bank account its very neccesary but i just got frighten that would happen again
I had an account with UMB and deposited $400.00. Everything came out was overdrafted. I deposited the money before 2 p.m. I called the bank to find out one of the tellers had took my money. The bank paid my deductions, refunded me the money and made the teller give me a personal apology. I kept feeling that they all were stealing from me so I closed my account.
I am so glade UMB is going to have to pay people back they stole so much money from me now the Lord is making them give it back thank you Lord.

the money back would nice alright. but how about the bad creditproblems they cause people to have. i cant even get a checking account at any other bank cause of these clowns. it was so bad i just walked away.
UMB is not the only bank getting dinked for charging too much for overdrafts. You would be better to stay with a bank that takes care of their employees and customers and did not take bail out money. BofA surely got dinked too; and they just suck! Hey Kevin; you probably could not get any bank account because you overdrafted too much; don’t blame it on the bank; idiot! I got my money but it was my fault I got charged in the first place! You cause your own credit problems.
