Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Expense Reimbursement Policy

Former Northwestern Mutual Life Financial Representative Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Over Business Expense Reimbursements.

A class action lawsuit was filed against Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company (“Northwestern Mutual” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (styled Kevin Fossum v. Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Case No. CV 10-2657-LB) alleging that Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance violated California’s Labor Code based on Northwestern Mutual’s alleged unlawful practice of requiring its financial representatives to reimburse the company for necessary business expenses, according to a class action lawsuit news report.

The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance class action complaint reportedly alleges that Northwestern Mutual improperly classified Northwestern Mutual Life insurance Financial Representatives as independent contractors and charged them for necessary business expenses such as  fees for cubical rent, telephone, computer, faxes, parking, marketing materials, and clerical assistance.

I recently rec’d a small check re: a class action settlement. I just want to make sure it is a legitimate check and not opening a door to some headache if I cash it. If you have any info re: the validity of this check I’d appreciate it.
    Thank you.
