My husband live in Blacklick,Ohio. We fill our federal income tax 2007. My husband idenity was stolen. My husband live in Flordia and filed his income tax at H&B Block in Winter Park, Florida before he came back to Ohio and live. This person who stolen my husband information ; name and s.s. Went to H&B Block had it filled out and got a refund and paid off his loan for $2,089.26 with my husband name and s.s at HSBC. I was wondering if H&B Block is in fault throwing information around, ending up in the wrong hands. Please notify me. Thanks

Hi, That went on in the H&R Block office in Clarksville Tn, we had the law come in and arrest her… Funny how no one ever found out.. We were told to keep our mouth shut… You would not believe what they do with the clients returns and the people they hire.. This is coming from someone that worked there for 6 years in the Adm Dept…I didn’t go back last year because of the things we were told to do ..

Can someone send me information on a lawyer that will file a law suit against H&R Block for me in Clarksville Tn. Or even a lawyer that we can talk to about misleading information that H&R Block gives people. We were lied to about when we would get our return back and they charged us almost 300.00 dollars just to take advantage of us and lie to us.

I live and work in the State of Oregon. I am sorry to hear of the problems caused in other states. Oregon is the ONLY state that requires licensing of their tax preparers. Beginning in 2010 the IRS also required all tax preparers to obtain a Preparer Identification Number (PTIN). I have had a PTIN since I started doing taxes in 2001. My PTIN is now linked to my SS#. All preparers who apply for a PTIN must have all tax returns filed and all taxes paid (or negotiated payments with the IRS). I file my taxes in January every year and my withholding is set so I always receive a refund. The IRS is also beginning the process of requiring ALL tax preparers to be licensed through them by examination. I think this should be in place by 2013. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of fraud associated with tax preparation.

I had the same experience with HR block. If you didn’t pay it yet then you should go to another tax preparer and file and amendment. They can relook at your tax info and refile it. Not sure if you can get your tax fee back from HR block though.
