Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Toyota

Consumers File Class Action Lawsuit Against Toyota Over Toyota’s Electronic Throttle Control System with Intelligence (ETCS-i)

A class action lawsuit was filed against Toyota in the Unites States District Court for the Southern District of Florida alleging, among other things, that Toyota and Lexus vehicles equipped with the ETCS-i are defective and unsafe and are susceptible to incidents of sudden unintended acceleration rendering such vehicles uncontrollable, according to a class action lawsuit news report.

The Toyota class action complaint also reportedly alleges that Toyota failed to incorporate failsafe measures to assist a driver in maintaining control of the vehicle during a sudden unintended acceleration event that will direct the ETCS-i to automatically reduce the engine to idle when the brakes are being applied while the throttle is in an unintended open position (such as a “brake-to-idle” algorithm or “brake over-ride”).
