BP & Nalco Holdings Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Alleged Spraying Of COREXIT®9500 In Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill

Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against BP & Nalco Holding Company Over Alleged Use of COREXIT®9500 In Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill.

A class action lawsuit was filed against BP and Nalco Holding Company (“Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana (Case No. 2:10-cv-01749) alleging that BP and Nalco sprayed COREXIT® 9500 dispersant into the Gulf of Mexico with full knowledge of its dangerous toxicity, according to a class action lawsuit news report.

The BP & Nalco COREXIT 9500 class action lawsuit complaint reportedly alleges that COREXIT was sprayed in the Gulf of Mexico to lessen BP’s financial exposure and cleanup efforts over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.  COREXIT 9500 reportedly attaches to the oil causing the oil and chemical to sink below the surface of the water eventually settling to the sea floor.

Corexit is a highly toxic compound implicated in the de-oxygenation of the ocean making it incapable of sustaining life and in the early deaths of recovery workers for the Exxon Valdez spill. This class action lawsuit is one of the most significant rays of hope to emerge from this whole tragedy. The filers and prosecutors of this lawsuit are my personal heroes.

Sorry, you are wrong. The Corexit used in the Exxon Valdez spill is not the same product being used in the gulf. Whereas they have the same, the numbers after words are different. Additionally, the chemicals are different. Finally, the EPA has announced that the current Corexit is non-toxic.
