BMW Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over Allegedly Defective BMW High Pressure Fuel Pumps and Turbo Chargers

Certain Model Year 2007-2010 BMW Owners File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against BMW Over Allegedly Defective High Pressure Fuel Pumps & Turbo Chargers.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against BMW (“BMW” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (Civil Action Case No. CV10-2257 SI) on behalf of a putative class consisting of all persons who own certain model year 2007 to 2010 BMW vehicles that allegedly contain defective high pressure fuel pumps (HPFPs) and turbo chargers, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

The BMW high pressure fuel pump and turbo charger class action lawsuit complaint reportedly alleges that BMW’s new fuel injection system  malfunctions at an alarming high rate purportedly creating a potential safety hazard and resulting in BMW owners having had to repeatedly replace their fuel pumps.

The BMW class action lawsuit complaint also reportedly alleges that certain BMW turbo chargers, designed to eliminate turbo lag, were defective and that rather than repair the turbo chargers, BMW purportedly used an undisclosed software fix that kept the turbo chargers from operating at full capacity.

Just wanted to comment that my cousin´s BMW 3 series (83, 84 or 86 year) went up in flames on the highway due to ¨fuel injection” defect. He and his wife were driving on the highway in Queens, New York and all of a sudden flames came out of the hood. They pulled the car over, got out in time and them the car was completely engulfed in flames….

They are lucky to be alive.

I have a friend who just recently purchased a BMW 318, it looks like a 91, 92 model. I told him the story about the fuel injection issue with my cousin and cautioned him to stay on top of that issue. This prompted me to research on the web to see what´s up, and it turns out that BMW vehicles still have this problem.

The issue with my cousin happened many years ago, probably 18 years ago. I´m suprised that BMW, with all of their famed engineering and technical fame, hasn´t handled this very dangerous issue.

Sorry but Henry’s issues are unrelated. The problem covered by this class action is related to possible defective high pressure fuel pumps on the newer N54 direct injected engines – which were not introduced until 2007. Models prior to 2007 did not have a high pressure fuel pump.

I recently owned a bmw 335i, 2009. It was a 4 door with the twin turbo and triptronic. I leased the car brand new. It ran wonderfully the first 8 months and then had nothing but problems. It all started with a delayed ignition when I pressed the start button. I took the car in and when they finished repairs it was completely different. It started again, but differently.. difficult to explain. It also drove different, and made all kinds of loud air noises. I later found out they were making computer upgrades that altered the car, without owner consent.
Then came the decelartion issues. I would be driving along and the car would literally stop driving. Or I would be at a stop light, and I couldn’t get the car to accelarate.. maybe to a maximum speed of 30mph.. and this is a car that normally pins you to the seat. Once again, I took the car in for repair and it was different again. Everytime I took the car in for repair, I got a different car in return. The ignition still had problems, and then the car started shifting differently… was as if the car had a hick up in between geers, and you couldn’t accelerate for a moment. Then the air conditioner died on me, and I live in So Cal desert… not fun when its 118 outside.
I eventually had enough. After about 6 trips to the dealer in a 5 month period, I gave up. They couldn’t fix the car and offered me no compensation. Don’t recommend getting any car they have with an inline 6 and high pressure fuel pump.
