AstraZeneca Nexium Class Action Lawsuit

If You Purchased the Drug Nexium®, A Class Action Lawsuit May Affect Your Rights.

A class action lawsuit has reportedly been filed against AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals L.P. (“AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals” or “AstraZeneca” or “Defendant”) in Suffolk County Superior Court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (captioned Commonwealth Care Alliance & others vs. AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals L.P. et al, Civil Class Action Case No. 05-0269 BLS2) alleging, among other things, that AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals L.P. developed and markets Nexium® (esomeprazole magnesium), which is a prescription medication that has been approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) for treating the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (“GERD”), which manifests as frequent heartburn, and for healing the more serious condition, erosive esophagitis and that AstraZeneca allegedly deceptively marketed Nexium® as superior to another medicine, Prilosec® (omeprazole), according to the AstraZeneca Nexium class action lawsuit notice.

According to the AstraZeneca Nexium class action notice, Plaintiffs are not claiming that Nexium® is unsafe in any way.

The Court has reportedly certified a Class of purchasers of Nexium® in Massachusetts as follows:

All persons or entities in Massachusetts who purchased Nexium® between March 2001 and the present, including third-party payors, cash payors, and those making co-payments.

Please somone help me to find out more. I have NEVER had this type problem in my family histoty, my mother lived to be 91 and never had hip or broken brittle bones. Apparently, I do. I am 59. I’ve been taking nexium for years. I was having difficulty swallowing. My Dr. Ordered a barrium swallow. In stead of my esophagus looking normally it looked all wavy all around the outside of it. They called it edophageal dysmotility. It also causes me to sound like I have laryngitis almost daily and several times daily. I would seriously like to be contacted due to these extreme side effects.

Please include me in your class action lawsuit. I am not a Mass resident, but I have had cervical spine surgery four times. Have been on Nexium ten years and have had a fusion that did not take after one year. Never imagined it might be Nexium… Please include me as at the very least a witness…

My husband died Feb 12, 2005, I think because he took Nexium. He went to the Doctor for physical on Feb 8 was in fine condition did complain of acid reflux. Dr. gave free samples of Nexium. He took before breakfast on Feb 11 as recommended had a slight discomfort but passed. He took before breakfast on Feb 12 and 1 hour later suffered a massive heart attack and never regained consciousness. I truly believed the Nexium caused his death but Dr. said it could not be proved by autopsy so none was done. I still have nightmares every time I see Nexium advertised.
