Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless Class Action Settlement Of America’s Choice II Calling Plan Roaming Class Action Litigation

If you subscribed to Verizon Wireless’s America’s Choice II calling plans, you could receive benefits from a class action settlement.

A class action settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless (“Cellco Partnership” or “Verizon Wireless” or “Verizon” or “Defendant”) in the Court of Common Pleas, Hamilton County, Ohio (styled Cowit, et al., v. Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless, Civil Class Action Case No. A0505869) alleging, among other things, that Verizon Wireless failed to provide a roaming service under Verizon Wireless’s America’s Choice II Calling Plan, purportedly in breach of contract and violation of the Ohio Deceptive Trade Practices Act, according to the Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless America’s Choice II Calling Plan class action lawsuit settlement notice.

The Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless America’s Choice II Calling Plan Settlement Class reportedly includes all current and former Verizon Wireless customers who subscribed to the Verizon Wireless America’s Choice II Calling Plan at any time between February 21, 2005, and June 21, 2011, the date the Court entered a Preliminary Approval Order of the Settlement.

The settlement reportedly provides either (a) additional calling plan minutes usable for one (1) year or (b) a transferable PIN for forty (40) calling units, which will be valid for twenty-four (24) months, that can be used to make domestic or international long distance calls.

On October 28, 2011, in the Hamilton County Courthouse, 1000 Main Street , Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 at 9:00 a.m., a Final Approval Hearing will reportedly be conducted to determine whether to grant final approval of the Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless America’s Choice II Calling Plan Settlement, consider any timely objections to the Settlement, and rule on the application for attorneys fees and expenses and incentive awards for the Class Representatives submitted by the attorneys for the plaintiffs in this Action

I find this to be a remarkable settlement – More minutes I don’t need to use with the provider deemed at fault. I called the toll free number and was told this was a ‘benefit’ Verizon was giving to customors? Consumers do not appear to have had a voice in negotiating this agreement. I hope the Courts will find more equitable solutions going forward.

I already have unlimited long distant calling so this settlement sounds like a scam also. There being allowed to take the easy way out the customers who were defrauded should have something to say about it this settlement is bogus.

I have tried to look up the website for the class-action settlement and the server cannot be found. I have called customer service as the letter states and press 0, the recording tells me invalid , good bye and hangs up.
I would like to know how many units per minute to call Norderstedt Germany, and can I call from a different phone with this pin or does it need to be my phone with verizon?
I really don’t want to be charged for the call.
