Zappos.com Security Breach Privacy Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over Alleged Hacking Of Zappos Customer Account Information

Zappos.com Customers Whose Personal Customer Account Information (Name, Account number, Password, E-mail Address, Addresses, Phone Number, and the Last Four Digits of the Credit Cards Used to Make Purchases) Was Stolen By Hackers File Class Action Lawsuit Against Amazon.com d/b/a Zappos.com.

A class action lawsuit has reportedly been filed against Amazon.com, Inc. d/b/a Zappos.com (“Amazon.com” or “Zappos.com” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Western District Kentucky (styled  Theresa D. Stevens v. Amazon.com, Inc. d/b/a Zappos.com, Class Action Case No. CV 3:12cv-32 M) alleging, among other things, that over 24 million Zappos.com customers’ personal customer account information including, inter alia, name, account number, password, e-mail address, billing and shipping addresses, phone number, and the last four digits of the credit cards used to make purchases, was stolen by hackers who gained access to Zappos.com’s internal network through unprotected servers located in Kentucky, according to the Zappos.com Security Breach Privacy class action lawsuit complaint.

The Zappos.com Security Breach Privacy class action lawsuit is reportedly brought on behalf of the following proposed national class pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23:

All persons whose Zappos.com personal customer account information including, inter alia, name, account number, password, e-mail address, billing and shipping addresses, phone number, and the last four digits of the credit cards used to make purchases, was stolen by hackers who gained access to Zappos.com’s internal network through unprotected servers located in Kentucky.

The Zappos.com Security Breach Privacy class action lawsuit complaint reportedly asserts claims for alleged violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) 15 U.S.C. section 1681, negligence and invasion of privacy by public disclosure of private facts.

The plaintiff in the Zappos.com class action, on behalf of herself and the putative class members, reportedly seeks (i) actual damages, economic damages, mental anguish damages, statutory damages and/or nominal damages, (ii) exemplary damages, (iii) injunctive relief, and (iv) attorneys’ fees, litigation expenses and costs.
