Samsung Refrigerator Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over Alleged Frozen Coil Defect

Samsung Refrigerator Owners File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Samsung Over Alleged Defect That Causes Refrigerator Coils To Freeze Over.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereafter “Samsung” or “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (styled Jeff Weske, Jo Anna Frager and Darryl Myhre v. Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Civil Action Case No. 2:10-cv-04811-WJM -MF) alleging, among other things, that Samsung sold refrigerators containing a defect that causes the refrigerators’ coils to freeze over, resulting in the failure of the refrigerator to cool, which has caused consumers to suffer damages for lost groceries, spoilage and repairs, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

The Samsung refrigerator class action lawsuit complaint reportedly alleges that certain Samsung French door, side-by-side and bottom freezer refrigerators (model numbers RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW) the refrigerators are designed and manufactured with heated coils that are intended to prevent excess frost from developing in the back of the machine, but instead of preventing frost, the coils allegedly allow frost and ice to build up in the refrigerators until the ice clogs and/or disables the machine’s fans, making it impossible for the fans to work to keep the machine cool.

The Samsung refrigerator coil class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following putative class members, unless otherwise excluded:

All persons or entities residing in the United States who own, or have owned, Samsung refrigerator models RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW and/or any other Samsung refrigerator model containing a defect that causes the refrigerator’s coils to ice over and the refrigerator to stop cooling.

Please include us in the lawsuit. We have a Samsung Family Hub refrigerator. We’ve had problems from the very beginning where the ice would freeze up to the point where we could not open the dispenser to clear it out. We would have to defrost the refrigerator in order to remove that piece. The ice maker actually snapped in half because it was too Frozen. We’ve lost out on a lot of money from the food that we had to throw out because the temperature in the refrigerator would drop. Contacted Samsung and they told us there was no one in our area that could fix it and there was nothing that they could do. This needs to stop. TY

I too have a Samsung refrigerator side by side with bottom drawer RFG296HDWP. IVE HAD to replace my coil because it froze over. I can’t use either of my ice makers because it makes the coil work harder. The temps do not stay at temps setting. I’m so sick I bought this piece of crap that I end up paying more money for because I can’t afford to buy another one. Or I would today.

We have a model RF260BEASP and have had endless problems from day one. Water leaks, ice buildups in the fridge, freezer won’t maintain temperature, ice maker doesn’t work. We have had several Samsung repair people inspect and do some repairs, but it’s never worked properly. We would like to join the class action suit.

I will never buy any Samsung products ever again. I’ve had issues with all of their products.

How does one join the Samsung lawsuit for frozen coils?

    MODEL # RS25J500DSR
We started having trouble with the ice machine freezing 4-6 months after purchasing refrigerator. Had a technician come out and replace the parts but it broke down again within 4-6 weeks after that. So we have no working ice machine for more than a year two. The machine growls and makes several different noises frequently. It used to stop when we opened the door but now it does it whenever. Our new problem is we have long ice cycles coming down from the top of the freezer and can literally make snowballs with the ice shavings in the door storage, the top 2 shelves and floor of freezer. Since it is not under warranty they can send someone out for a fee. I should put this machine on the doorstep of the merchant I bought it from. Sign me up for the class action!

I have a Samsung counter depth french door refrigerator:
    Mod. RF18HFENBWW
    Compressor: MKV172C-L2J
We purchased this unit and almost immediately after we began to have moisture problems in the bottom of the refrigerator. We dried up the water often. A little while later the digital display was showing a rise in temperature.
We called Samsung and they told us to unplug it and then walked us through a reset process. Everything seemed to be ok for a month or two. Then everything started to go wrong again.
Samsung told us that we had items to close to the rear of the refrigerator. Nothing was near the back. We continued to have problems with the refrigerator until we were outside our warranty, Which at that time there was nothing more Samsung would do to help us. Now we’re stuck with a lemon. What can we do? Can we get customer satisfaction?

I own a RS265TDR refrigerator. The coil freezes and the refrigerator stops cooling. It has been repaired numerous times and replacement parts have been installed. How do I receive proper reimbursement?

  • Susan Whitford September 21, 2020, 6:12 pm

We purchased a Samsung RF25HMEDBSR in late 2014 or early 2015. We have had many of the same problems as others. Last October, the refrigerator started making a loud noise and then got warm, spoiling all the food inside. We had the cooling unit replaced. A few months later, it happened again. We had the cooling unit replaced again. Then the ice maker started acting up and finally got stuck. We had parts and pieces replaced related to the ice maker. This has been really frustrating. Is there a new class action suit or any way to pressure Samsung to fix the problems?

  • Herbert bouchard September 22, 2020, 10:05 am

My Samsung refrigerator RF28HMEDBBC ICES UP EVERY 6-8 WEEKS.

Causing us to empty it out and let it defrost for 2 days.
I am tired of throwing food away !!!!
add me to the lawsuit .

  • Gary Townsend September 28, 2020, 12:49 pm

I purchased a Samsung refrigerator model RF266AEPN in 2010 and within a couple of years I had to replace the ice maker. Then it started freezing up and the refrigeration compartment would not cool down. We lost food. I had to manually defrost the refrigerator and couldn’t find anyone to work on it. After several years repeating this cycle, the whole refrigerator stopped cooling and freezing. I have junked it and replaced it with a whirlpool refrigerator. I would like to know how to get in on this lawsuit.

  • Carol J. Smith September 30, 2020, 9:15 pm

How do we get help? We purchased our Samsung model in 2015 and we have had problems every 4-6 months ever since. We have lost time, money and food safety too many times. We had numerous repair services to no avail. We have defrosted the refrigerator 2-3 times per year. The warranty extended service expired but the repairman tried to replace most of the parts. This is awful what can we do? How do we join the class action lawsuit. We have to replace this refrigerator as soon as possible. We paid $ over1800 for this horrible mess…when we will get some action. How do you join the class action case?

  • Nancy Allen October 10, 2020, 12:51 pm

Our Samsung Refridgerator Model #RF23HCEDBSR/AA was expensive since it’s Counter Depth and French Door. It’s been a huge & expensive dissappointment!
The ice maker never works. We can never get it even open! We have hired repairmen several times and they can’t fix it permanently. We have tried thawing the freezer (just great for our food) and hair dryers to thaw it more quickly since that’s what the repairmen used. It’s a joke! I want to be part of that Class Action LawSuit. Another thing that the repairmen said about Samsung was that all the other major appliance manufacturers post their specs & directions online so repairmen can actually be effective in their repairs. But not Samsung! They keep it a secret! That’s why you rarely find anyone who even wants to TRY to fix them! Shame on them! I hope they pay Million$ for their shoddy way of treating customers and doing business!

  • Alicia Maulseed October 16, 2020, 8:05 am

This is soo frustrating. I bought my fridge 3 years ago (March 2017) Model # FR18HFENBSR/AA. I have had the coil replaced twice already, and it continues to freeze and water goes not only in the freezer, but underneath and into the vegetable bins. Its sad that they are aware of this but continue to sell the damn thing. I need to be in this class action suit, Please add my name

  • Karen OB October 25, 2020, 5:31 pm

    Hello
I have one as well worked great a few years and than had the ice maker changed and not 3 weeks later right back to freezing up and a nightmare never have ice always have to remove and defrost Samsung should be ashamed they charge BIG money and produce TRASH! and will not compensate or fix the issue!!!!! WRONG!

  • David Nelson October 26, 2020, 6:19 pm

I am having the same problem with my refrigerator, Model RF263BEAESR but I do not see it mentioned on the list. I have spent over 700 dollars to fix the issue but still seems to freeze up.

  • Tammy October 29, 2020, 1:34 pm

Piece of junk! Mine came with my house 3 tea pairs already in 2 months! I hate this thing and we are $600 into repairs!

  • James Kerby November 6, 2020, 9:25 am

I have a Samsung refrigerator (less than 5 years old) and are forced to manually defrost it every 3 – weeks (remove all goods from the refrigerator and freezer, remove shelves and cooling coil cover). I have called Samsung several times and they refuse to even admit there might be a problem even though there are 1,000’s of owners with the same problem and numerous Youtube videos with possible resolutions (none of which work) and steps to take to defrost the refrigerator.

I ordered a new non-Samsung refrigerator this weak and cant wait to get rid of this Samsung lemon!

I hope this class action lawsuit works

  • Megan Clary November 18, 2020, 8:50 pm

How do I file for complaint on the Samsung refrigerator? We have had our fridge for about 4 years now. The first year 2 years worked fine. The past 2 years we have have had the repairman out numerours times to fix it. The freezer would frost over leaving ice on the bottom of the fridge. And then eventually causing the fridge to stop maintaining a cool temperature. The repairman was just here again today. He said that we put in over $500 in repairs already and there isnt anything else they can do. So now we have to come up with another $2000 to get a replacement fridge. We will never buy samsung again! Feeling frustrated and upset. What can we do?

    • Hedayat Solaimani June 5, 2021, 1:56 pm

I bought my frig from lowes as well. It is not a model that’s listed on the law suit but I am hoping that the law suit covers every model that Samsung put out. Absolutely junk. Never buy any Samsung appliances. It’s just a name. No quality behind it.

  • Audrey Williamson December 18, 2020, 1:51 pm

Samsung fridge model number RF28HFEDTSR 28.7 cuft french door fridge stopped cooling after 2years. After seeing others complain about this model also how can we get this added to lawsuit. I had to buy a whole new fridge out of pocket.

  • Sue Ellen Rethke January 5, 2021, 11:05 am

  • Michael Slattery March 2, 2021, 11:40 am

We have a fridge made by Samsung and having issues so yes I want a new fridge

  • John & Mary Boyd March 30, 2021, 12:18 pm

We would like to be included in the class action lawsuit. We have had similar problems with our Samsung refrigerator. We haven’t used our ice maker in years. Samsung sent a tech to fix it twice with no success. Temperature is set for 34 degrees on refrigerator, Inside it is 51 degrees. Food spoilage over the years has been substantial. Ice forms in the back of the unit. It makes a loud noise also.

  • Robert Barnes April 7, 2021, 10:46 am

I too want to be involved in this suit as I have a Samsung RF263 model where the cooling coils freeze up in the upper section of the fridge. I have my original receipt when I purchased the fridge.

  • james winingnear May 22, 2021, 11:06 am

    samsung twin coolingplus are junk

  • Patricia Boyd May 25, 2021, 6:26 am

I have just become aware of this lawsuit and don’t know if I may join, but count me in if possible.
I purchased a FROST FREE Samsung RF28HFEDTSR/88 that has continually built up frost in the freezer compartment since the day it was purchased. When I complained to Samsung I was told that frost build-up was normal and all I needed to do to fix it was remove the food and leave it open overnight! Kind of like buying a self-cleaning oven and during the cleaning cycle food is burned onto the glass door rather than burned off. After the technician inspected the oven, he called the company office, told them he showed the customer how to self-clean, just use Windex and a sharp razor blade. This was my mother’s oven and the unit was immediately sent back!
In addition to the frost problem, if any water is left in the ice and water compartment, with kids this always happens, it quickly builds up a hard water appearance. I must continually keep the area dry. Whatever material is used in that compartment is not suited for that environment.

I to have a Samsung fridge that I have freeze up ice maker and had several repairs on it

  • Dr Jerilyn Vogelsang June 5, 2021, 12:46 pm

I have been trying to resolve issues with my Samsung refrigerator for years. I would like to be added to this lawsuit. My refrigerator freezes up and stops cooling at least once a month. I have lost thousands of dollars in spoiled food and Samsung refuses to refund my money for their defective refrigerator or replace my food costs. Their comment is always that it is out of warrant, although this is not a warranty issue. Samsung provided me one so called, repair call that failed immediately because this issue is not repairable.

    • Angela DeWitt June 5, 2021, 2:13 pm

I have also had same issues.. I finally googled it and at least twice a month or more I would have this issue. I didn’t have money for a new frig. So I would have to unplug in and thaw it out w a hair dryer. Wipe it out and then plug it back in and it would get cold and I could put food back in it.
The first time it did this I had a bunch of food I lost.
I bought mine because is was highly recommended and I liked it was a digital…
I will never buy Samsung Appliances again!

  • Rose Carter June 5, 2021, 12:49 pm

I have had same problem with my Samsung frig also how do I get in on the law suit. ASP

  • Rose Carter June 5, 2021, 12:50 pm

Have same problem with my Samsung refrigerator. How can I get in law suit ?

  • Judith Robertson June 5, 2021, 12:52 pm

After reading some of the comments, I realized we were not alone with this
always freezing up refrigerator. It is in our vacation home, so we have to come
up every week to check on our refrigerator! We tried to buy a new one but it is white (& stainless steel will not go well in our new kitchen) & the only white refrigerators are the old fashioned ones. Samsung does have a white 3 door but I would never buy a Samsung again. We have talked to the company numerous times, watched many videos in how to resolve the problem (which is unsolvable) taken all the food out of the refrigerator, threw food away and unfroze the appliance over and over again. Humidity seems to be the worse even if the refrigerator is never opened. We have removed the vegetable drawer and put towels in the base to absorb the water that accumulates in the refrigerator. Many times when we return after a week the towels are frozen to the shelf, We are stuck with this useless Samsung. The most despicable thing about the whole mess is that companies are still showing and selling Samsung to their customers. They should be banned and Samsung should pay accordingly as it doesn’t apologize or fix the problem for everyone free.

  • Kevin Borsay June 5, 2021, 12:56 pm

It seems like every year we need to empty the fridge, disassemble the unit, thaw out the coils, and put it back together.

  • William Krepick June 5, 2021, 12:59 pm

My Samsung fridge was nothing but problems for 3 years with excessive noise, coils freezing, ice dispenser stuck, inside temp not cold enough to keep meats and milk cold, etc. Their local service company would do nothing after they failed to fix the problems. I finally gave up after all the hassles and got Best Buy to give me a decent credit on a new LG fridge. I had Best Buy remove the Samsung fridge and install the LG fridge. The LG fridge is wonderful. I have recommended to all my friends that they DO NOT BIY a Samsung fridge.

  • Donna Lapsey June 5, 2021, 1:17 pm

I also own a Samsung refrigerator nothing but problems water freezes under crisper drawers and at times I can’t even open them it’s been a real nightmare I hope I’m included in this class action lawsuit. Donna Lapsey

  • Donna Lapsey June 5, 2021, 1:19 pm

I would love to be involved in this class action lawsuit. This Samsung refrigerator had been nothing but problems

  • Joan Bradshaw June 5, 2021, 1:25 pm

I have had two Samsung refrigerators that have had problems! The first one went bad before it was a year old and had multiple service calls under warranty. The repairman finally replaced everything that could be replaced on it and it still didn’t work properly. I was finally able to receive instructions from Samsung that included me sending receipts and then sending a picture of myself cutting the cord from the refrigerator. They said they would send us a refund so we went out and bought a new refrigerator. Unbeknownst to us they were still going to give us a run around but since we needed another refrigerator we bought one. We stupidly bought another Samsung but a different model. What a mistake! If I had known that it would take me another 3 months or so to get the refund I would never have bought another Samsung!! They then told me that I was supposed to sent the sticker from the bottom left corner of the refrigerator. The refrigerator was gone since we bought a new one!! It took another 3 or so months and wasn’t until I went to social media did this get resolved!! We now have another Samsung refrigerator that has had problems with freezing under the bottom freezer drawer and behind the refrigerator back panel wall. My husband and I every month would have to thaw the bottom with a hair dryer in order to be able to close the freezer drawer. We have had it repaired numerous times but hopefully will last a while longer. I will NEVER buy another Samsung appliance!!

  • Hedayat Solaimani June 5, 2021, 1:34 pm

I have been dealing with a faulty Samsung frig for a while. So tired of having to shut off the frig and empty it out and thaw it out. Nonsense. Samsung has to be held accountable and pay everyone the full price they paid plus time and food wasted and repair expenses.

  • andrew sparks June 5, 2021, 1:35 pm

I purchases this junk at Lowe’s and the store was no help in resolving the problem. Had purchased a warranty but 3 repairmen on 3 separate occasions could not fix the problem. The warranty that I got at Lowe’s was a joke. The first repair guy asked to borrow a hair dyer to fix the problem.

  • David E Jenkins June 5, 2021, 1:45 pm

my samsung side by side fridge had many service calls within less than 5-years. I finally, after getting no help and expensive repairs, replaced it with a whirlpool and it works great. Samsung offered no assistance or admitted no fault. I will never buy another samsung product, and I tell everyone about my experience with that exact problem. Good luck to anyone involved.

  • Carrie Haggerty June 5, 2021, 1:46 pm

We went through this for years…. lost so much food over and over again. Unplugged, used hair dryer to thaw coils….buy new food. It’s was crazy.

  • Tony June 5, 2021, 1:50 pm

I had the same issue… Samsung offered no help although my warranty had already expired. I noticed that others were having similar issues online and proceeded to repair the problem myself three years ago. It was a relatively easy fix and we have not had an issue since (i.e. water draining inside the baskets). Not sure why Samsung has not resolved the issue… it has existed for years and they are certainly aware of it!

  • Angela DeWitt June 5, 2021, 2:15 pm

Please add me to this class action ..
    I purchase from Lowe’s

  • David Mamone June 5, 2021, 2:52 pm

I bought a Samsung about four years ago, same problems everyone is talking about. The salesman at the store said the 22 year old GE that I was putting in my garage will still be running when they haul the Samsung out. No truer words. Like the other comment people have been making and numerous repair call, the tech told me to report mold behind the plastic. He also told me to use a “740” code, which means replacement. Samsung did replace it, cut the cord to the old one. A little over a year now, but have no faith that this will be a long haul refrigerator. Total junk, should have known better.

  • Charles Millen June 5, 2021, 3:23 pm

Same problem, after thawing out, passed a bare copper wire down from heating coil through drain tube, that runs behind the freezer drawer, problem is that drain tube freezes up and causes a backup of condensation water behind the back panel of refrigerator, which then starts freezing up. Although it didn’t completely solve the problem, bought me a few more months between thawings.

  • scott Laduke June 5, 2021, 5:12 pm

I have the same problem. In the refrigerator side, the coils freeze up and completely cover the cooling fan. I remove all food and put a light in for 24 hrs to thaw. This happened within 6 months of purchase. Talked to Samsung Numerous times, and nothing. Add me to the list!

  • David Akers June 5, 2021, 5:47 pm

I am in a similar boat. Every six months the fan in the freezer starts making a loud clicking noise because it’s hitting ice. We have to take all the food out and defrost the fridge for 24 hours. That’s ridiculous.

  • Douglas Allis June 5, 2021, 7:33 pm

We built a house in 2011 and bought a Samsung French Door fridge with icemaker. Its the first and only major appliance in the house that has been replaced. After two years it started frosting and warming up. First sign of trouble was always reduced ice production. Then we’d see ice on the back of the fridge. I’d empty the fridge and use a hair dryer to get rid of the ice, as instructed by the company over the phone. Problem come back several times a year, always in warmer months. Next Samsung said the problem was caused by a defective drain line. A technician came out and replaced it and the control board for free. Technician commented that Samsung fridges were the worst. He claimed he Within a month of his fix, the fridge frosted up. Now it was out of warranty. Samsung would only pay for parts, not labor. Three years ago we replaced it with a Whirlpool side-by-side. Samsung: Your phones are great, your refrigerators suck. You should be banned from ever making another one.

  • Michael Garcia June 5, 2021, 9:12 pm

Mines coils on the fridge side kept freezing to the point it pushed the crisper drawers open. Food spoiled so many times . Samsung was of no help , repairs where at my own cost . I finally had to junk it. Horrible

  • William Williams June 6, 2021, 12:33 am

My Samsung Refrigerator began to freeze in the back of the fridge and leak water on the floor. I was told it would cost $1800.00 to repair. I contacted Samsung and all they offered me was $100.00 off a new Samsung Refrigerator. I asked them why I would waste my money on another refrigerator when they didn’t warranty the one I had!

  • James Kerby June 6, 2021, 7:53 am

I had this problem and was forced to buy a new refrigerator

  • Ronald Schroeder June 6, 2021, 8:57 am

2 years seems to be the norm for failures of Samsung French door Bottom freezer refrigerators, just after the warranty runs out. We are SUPPOSED to be included in the class action lawsuit, but have heard nothing from them since joining 2 years ago. Makes me wonder if Samsung initiated their own group of litigants just to keep a lid on issue. This is the first I’ve heard from anyone since joining. Does anyone know where we are with this?

  • Carolyn Ogden June 6, 2021, 10:49 am

We bought the same refrigerator and went through hoops with our extended warranty for 2 years to get the problem fixed. But after the warranty went out we had to pay 400 bucks to finally get the problem fixed. I would love to get reimbursed for all the money we had to pay out. We still can’t use the ice maker we bought it around 2011.

  • Alan Parker June 6, 2021, 11:21 am

Our Samsung refrigerator froze up the first time less than a year after we bought it. After that it froze up every couple a months. Had to remove everything and defrost it regularly. Did some research on the internet and found out many owners were experiencing the same problems. When talking to Samsung they would not admit there was a design problem. I would like to be added to the class action law suit!

  • Donna Gordon June 6, 2021, 2:15 pm

Yes our Samsung has froze up and we had to remove the ice about every two weeks.

  • Ronald Kinyon June 6, 2021, 11:57 pm

Ice maker hasn’t worked since three months after purchase. Bottom drawer stuck shut, and extremely hard to open. Samsung gave us nothing but the runaround. Very expensive, worst on the market. Please everyone, don’t buy. By all means sigh me up.

  • Gerald Walz June 7, 2021, 7:54 am

I have the same issues with Samsung refrigerator. Have to take it apart to defrost coils twice a year, bottom drawer gets stuck because of ice under it.

  • Carolyn Rayne June 7, 2021, 10:04 am

This class action has been going on for 11 years now….has anyone heard anything from Samsung or from…..anybody ?

  • Becky Vagle June 7, 2021, 2:46 pm

Nothing will ever happen. We fought back and forth with them for a couple years over things and we just had to disconnect our ice maker because of it freezing up and then water would pool at the bottom of the fridge and then run down on the floor. I will never buy a Samsung appliance ever again and I stress to all my family and friends the same thing. They don’t back their products and they have too many issues!

  • Joe Batrich June 7, 2021, 4:21 pm

I bought a Samsung, looked good, but the coil freezing, the ice maker not working, it was junk. I replaced the control panel, the ice maker, and the coil I had to thaw multiple times over the few years I owned a Samsung appliance. Stick to cell phones, your appliance manufacturing skills are garbage. The control panel was covered under warranty, but the labor was not, the ice maker was not, and after once service call for over $200 to watch the repairman thaw the coils, I never bothered calling again, but had to do it myself. First time the fridge stopped working I lost several hundreds of dollars in grocery as I was out of town when it stopped working.

Ditto. Samsung’s “remedy” was a periodic defrost. Memories of
those pre ‘frost-free’ frig’s of yesteryear come to mind. For those
whob don’t remember, it’s an ugly memory, trust me.

  • Ronald Kinyon June 17, 2021, 9:14 pm

Our Samsung refrigerator froze up again today. I just wish Samsung had to replace all the food that we have lost over time, with this piece of crap refrigerator. Samsung should refund for the refrigerator and all the lost food and time spent to everyone involved, but good luck with that.

  • Ronald Schroeder June 18, 2021, 9:05 am

Let me guess. New Samsung French door bottom freezer worked fine for 2 years. The day after the warranty ran out, freezer froze and fridge got hot, spoiling food. That seems to be the trend. Question is, why did it work just fine for 2 years? There must be 1000s of these cases. Samsung could have offered a solution early-on but decided to ignore the customers and the bad press.

    • James Kerby June 18, 2021, 10:13 am

I agree, when I called Samsung they had never heard of the problem. The only suggestion they was to place a service call for $200+.

There are no repair services available in my town because there have been so many problems with no solutions

    • Carolyn June 18, 2021, 1:05 pm

Mine went within 4 months, replaced under warranty and that lasted less than 6 !

  • gary patterson June 19, 2021, 9:43 am

I have samsung RF217ACPN french door ref. also had problems with water filling up crisper drawer and undeath drawer. It was because the drain was freezing up due to manufacturing defect, because the part from the heating eliminate to the drain was to short. I talked to one of their reps. and no satisfaction and they were very rude. He said Samsung would not pay to have it fixed. Should have been a recall then. Also the drain tube in the back of the ref. melted shut. Looks nice but is junk!! Will not buy samsung again because of their worthless warranty and awful customer satisfaction .They don’t stand behind their products.

  • Daniel Alarcon June 19, 2021, 11:42 am

I have had a samsung with frozen coils.
    I had to replace it.

  • michael cambre June 19, 2021, 4:48 pm

  • JimSmith June 20, 2021, 7:28 am

Mine freezes up also. How do I participate?

  • Jason Bourgault June 20, 2021, 6:51 pm

What is the point of all of us bitching at this still? We all are saying the same thing over and over again. The fridge was a joke no doubt. It’s been ten years and nothing has been done with this class action and I don’t thing anything will be done. We all got screwed by Samsung! Please don’t keep responding saying the same problem. If someone has news about what’s going on with a settlement that’s what I want to hear.

  • Joy Langley July 4, 2021, 3:07 pm

We have the RF26X series . Despite weekly forced defrosts, repairmen, replaced parts, we still have ice and water in the bottom. Please add us to the lawsuit.

  • David Hunt July 4, 2021, 5:24 pm

Samsung Model RF4287HAWP/XAA have repaired two times prior to now. This is the same problem where ice/frost buildup in the back of unit. The defrost fan is making loud noises and for now the temp is being maintained. This seems to be a design flaw.
I would like to add this model to the class action lawsuit.

  • Terrel Sayre July 9, 2021, 6:00 pm

Samsung Refrigerator condeser coil and fan freeze up cause noise and a stopping of fan causing fan failer. It been happening for approximately two years.
Also ice maker freeze over not defrosting properly. Very in convent and frankly a pain to deal with causing lose of food from down time. It is apparent there is a design flaw in the model RF28HFEDBWW

  • J E Hampton July 10, 2021, 11:32 pm

I have the Samsung TwinCool refrigerator drain freezing problem. Two attempts to increase the function of the defroster at the drain has not proven to be a true remedy. It’s time to move on.

  • Ronald Schroeder July 11, 2021, 7:55 am

    YouTube fix? Part number/ID?

  • William A Krepick July 11, 2021, 10:33 am

We moved on after 3 years of using the hair dryer for DIY fixing the frozen coils, leaking ice maker, obnoxious compressor noise, and fridge temp being above 40 degrees. An absolute disaster and no help from Samsung. Pathetic customer service and pathetic situation of Samsung not owning up to their design defects. Best Buy came through and gave me a $750 credit toward a new fridge – they were great. I bought an LG countertop with no ice dispenser – just ice maker and ice tray in freezer. Have had it for 2 years and it’s super quiet, extremely roomy for a countertop, and a wonderful fridge. I tell everyone who’s looking for a fridge to stay away from Samsung!

  • Michael Morrow July 11, 2021, 11:47 am

My Samsung refrigerator was barely out of warranty when it had the coil freeze-up. The service tech advised that the refrigerator side temp should be kept at 37 degrees to avoid coil freeze-ups. That advice has helped me avoid additional service calls. Once I set it to 36 degrees and a day later heard the fan blades presumably striking ice build-up. Back to 37 degrees and that resolved itself.

  • Joe Batrich July 11, 2021, 12:32 pm

Samsung should stay in the TV and cell phone business. The appliances are garbage. My fridge had to have the control panel replaced, the condenser fan replaced and I bet every 3-4 months I had to remove all the drawers and hold a hair dryer on the coils because they kept freezing up. Horrible experience.

  • Alonzo Addison July 11, 2021, 2:55 pm

Please include me in the class action lawsuit. My Samsung coils freeze up, I get water in the bins and ice in the refrigerator. I have to chip away ice in the freezer in order to open the drawers

  • Stephanie Harvel August 4, 2021, 6:59 pm

RS263TDPN model. Same since nearly DAY ONE. Im steaming mad. PLEASE add this model to the suit. Obviously others with the same one are having the same issues. Just wanna be made whole. Not looking for a lottery win. Come on. Stand behind your JUNK.

  • C. DeRykus August 5, 2021, 7:22 pm

Please add Samsung model RF217ACPN. Same water/icing issues. Purchased Aug 2012 online from Best Buy.

  • J. Chung August 13, 2021, 8:19 am

My Samsung model RF26HFENDSR/AA has the coil problem with major frost build up, melting, dripping and a major disappointment. We bought the entire Samsung kitchen suite and we have so many regrets

    • Carolyn+Ogden September 3, 2021, 5:35 pm

I am so sick and tired of this lawsuit. It has been going on for years. I wish it was over maybe I can get some money to buy a new refrigerator or maybe they should just give everyone a voucher to get a new one!!!

  • gunda ahmari September 3, 2021, 11:42 am

My Samsung #RF18HFENBSR coils freeze every 4-6 weeks. I am sick and tired of constantly having to empty the refrigerator in order to deal with this problem. How do I join the class action lawsuit?

  • Tammy LeBleu September 4, 2021, 9:39 am

We have the same ^%$%$Y^$ problem with model RF23M8070SG/AA, bought new after hurricane Harvey.

  • james reese riddle September 5, 2021, 7:52 am

Please add me to the class action. We have RF28HEMEDBSR/AA Sumsung and our ice maker never worked right freezing up all the time. We buy bag ice.

  • JimSmith September 7, 2021, 7:53 am

Please put my name in the lawsuit! I have one of these Samsung’s that has never worked!

  • JimSmith September 7, 2021, 8:05 am

Beginning to suspect this “class action” is a bunch of Bull—-! I registered for this years ago! Have never received any updates as to status. If there is really a lawsuit , What is the status? WHEN do you expect some action? I want to purchase a new fridge with whatever refund I may get! Update Please!

  • Hedayat Solaimani September 7, 2021, 2:59 pm

I am beginning to doubt this law suit as well. With so many people being basically defrauded by samsung you would think this so called law suit would have been done with. How long should people wait to see any results?

  • Ronald+Schroeder September 7, 2021, 3:40 pm

I think Samsung created this ‘lawsuit’ just to keep a cap on the situation. Like you, we joined years ago and have NEVER heard of any ‘progress. Could this mean a ‘double’ lawsuit somehow?

  • Donna Lapsey September 8, 2021, 9:01 am

I have tried repeatedly to get action on my Samsung refrigerator. I never hear of any resolution. I am so fed up, my crisper drawers are now frozen solid and won’t open I want a refund to purchase a new unit from a company that doesn’t sell garbage

  • Harry September 18, 2021, 2:42 pm

Bought 2 Samsung fridge French and side by side. Both had problems with Ice maker, freezing coils, coil sensor, fan frozen in place
STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG APPLIANCES, THEY’RE A PIECE OF “JUNK”
I passed on the word for generations to come, You should do the same!

  • Harry September 18, 2021, 6:56 pm

Stay away from Samsung Appliances. They’re Junk

  • JimSmith September 19, 2021, 3:31 pm

What is the status of the lawsuit? Been reading this for years!

  • Jessica A Mason-Hunt September 28, 2021, 5:31 pm
