Ford Motor & Navistar Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine

Owners & Lessees Of Ford Vehicles With Ford Power Stroke Diesel Engine File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Ford & Navistar Over Allegedly Defective Diesel Engines.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Ford Motor Company (“Ford Motor” or “Ford”) and Navistar, Inc. (“Navistar”) f/k/a International Truck and Engine Corporation (collectively “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California (styled Brandon Burns v. Navistar, Inc. and Ford Motor Company, Civil Action Case No. 3:10-cv-02295-LAB -BGS) alleging, among other things, that Defendants manufactured, marketed and/or sold Ford’s Super Duty trucks and Ford Excursion vehicles for model years 2003-2007 that contained Ford & Navistar manufactured 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engines that allegedly suffer from manufacturing and design defects that render the engines and vehicles unmerchantable and unsuitable, according to the Ford & Navistar 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine class action lawsuit complaint.

The Ford & Navistar 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of a putative class of all owners and lessees within California of Ford vehicles equipped with Navistar’s 6.0 L diesel engine, commonly referred to as the Power Stroke V8 Turbo diesel engine, unless otherwise excluded.

Owned many fords all with well over 300,000 plus miles before buying my 550 in early 06 ,. Didn’t get 2500 miles on a brand new truck before entire wiring harness fried and egr cooler. Short of the long now after literally babying the truck and taking it to ford more than nine times in its life ,. I’m at a total loss ,. 95,000 miles on truck and all work done at ford ,. Almost every ten thousand miles back in for repair ,. I have tried to see if anyone at ford cares But I’m being told to stuff it pretty much ,.. New truck broke down now for almost a year ,. 52,000 $ investment ,, now worth jack and can’t even make any money selling it ,. I feel very let down ,..:((I def want in on this all is documented ford should do something about this for sure .,,,

Other than stranded up in the mountains, 70 miles from home, twice, i.e. 2 times, for no start/fuel delivery problems, our ’05 F350 6.0 diesel has been reliable. ESP warranty was in force and covered tow and repair costs less the deductible. Now out of warranty, bad glow plug replacement was costly.

But the blown head gasket, oil cooler, egr failure, FICM, and other very costly repairs are lurking ahead in the near future. I need some relief. Count me in…

If this lawsuit is still active…PLEASE SIGN ME UP! I own a ’05 f250 that I am in the process of putting close to $9k to get it back on the road. They are replacing what seems to be almost everything under the sun…(head bolts to FICM ). navistar needs to he held accountable for their piss poor designs!….

We are from Michigan and want assistance with how to proceed. We have had 2 of the VT 365 engines made by International/Navistar. First time was our mistake for not knowing ANYTHING about this engine. 2nd one the salesman lied to us about it not being a Navistar engine. WE WANT IN ON THE LAW SUIT AS WELL. We too have literally thousands of dollars of repair bills from these 2 trucks. The 2nd truck we only owned for 3 WEEKS !

How do you sign up for the suit ?

  • Tiffany April 14, 2012, 1:29 pm

I live in Texas and own one. A law firm in Louisiana took me as part of the suit. Pendley, Baudin & Coffin, LLP 225- 687-6396

poor mileage, constant EGR engine codes.I was looking for additives to clean the fuel injectors for me to put in the fuel tank by my self. found that wynn’s products will do the job, but the bad side is the the NAPPA stores claim the Wynn’s Co. rep told them only to sell this product to repair shops only. According to a Wynn’s Co. spokes person thats not true and is looking into the problem.

We live in Texas and bought our Ford F-250 in 2003. It was used with about 20,000 miles on it, and within 2 weeks it was in the shop for the first time. I think what I was upset the most about, was the salesman told us that they had the problem fixed with the engine, or we would not have bought the truck. It has been in the shop 24 times since we bought it. Went to trade it off for a Chevy Duramax, and was only offered 8000.00 for it when we still owed 22,000.00 on it. This truck has been the money pit for which there is no end.

WHEN THIS ‘EGR’ PROBLEM HIT OUR F450, I WAS STUNNED TO HEAR THAT THE OIL COOLER HAD WATER IN IT AND WAS RUINED (AMONG A BUNCH OF OTHER PARTS!). I HAD ASSUMED THAT THIS OIL COOLER WAS IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR WHERE MOST ‘NORMAL’ OIL COOLERS (AND TRANS COOLERS, ETC) ARE LOCATED TO GET COOLING AIR. BUT I’VE JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE OIL COOLER IS INTERNALLY LOCATED IN THE MOTOR (GEE, THAT’S WHERE ALL THE HEAT IS!) AND IS NOT OUT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THAT IS A BAD DESIGN RIGHT THERE! NOW I AM JUST WAITING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN A SECOND TIME…………….

    • Dave warner June 30, 2012, 1:48 pm

I had the same thing happen and had to buy a new engine installed for
$20,300.00 DOLLARS !! I told them that the same thing would happen to this new engine and the mechanic said yes !! I got online a found bulletproofdiesel .com They make a kit that will make your 6.0 run for 400K no problem . To bad ford won’t do this for us !!

  • Darrell Keith April 22, 2012, 8:06 am

I have a 2004 f-350 and a 2006 f-250, both with 6 liters. In the last year the 2004 with 180K, i had to do the head gasket EGR cooler, oil cooler, high pressure oil pump, fuel pump and also all 8 injectors, big $$$.
The 2006 f-250 with only 125K, just did the head gaskets, oil cooler, EGR cooler for the second time in 10 months and then 4 injectors. Told the dealer I didnt want the truck back and give me a trade and they told me they didnt want it. You buy a diesel for long life and dependability, not this engine, very disapointing. I have a 2000 f-350 7.3 liter with 325K and never had a problem with it. I want in on the lawsuit too!!

  • Tom Cowan April 24, 2012, 2:21 pm

Same as all the above! Just found this site! 04 Excursion 6.0l LEMON!
Thousands out of pocket to keep it on the road. Left stranded too many times over the years to have it do it again this past Friday the 13th of all days! Towed 40 miles just to get home…
Add me to any lawsuits and list to keep up to date on this!
    Tom C.

i have a 2004 f350 that at 90000 miles had problems with oil engine cooler, egr cooler and valve then it got to the point of no start then warranty expired then no more service with out those big expense

  • Randall L. Stapleton April 30, 2012, 12:04 pm

    2006 F350 6.0 76,000 mi., out of warranty less than 1 yr.
1 owner, 1 driver to pull 16,000 lb. RV 5th wheel trailer.
Followed all Ford maintance and never been overheated.
Only in warranty work was high pressure oil regulator for injector sys.
Just repaired engine from fuel in coolant. Total cost of recommended repair was $9,423.
Found Right cylinder head cracked at #5 injector port. Replaced both cylinder heads, oil cooler, EGR cooler, STC fitting on high pressure pump, water pump, dummy plugs, turbo drain tube and gaskets, replaced coolant tank, hoses and caps.
I am afraid to drive it now and sounds like a trade is almost impossible without giving it away. I will probably join a Lawsuit if only to let Ford know how unhappy I am.

    • Robert Burke June 18, 2012, 9:56 am

I bought an 06 f 250 with 60,000 miles on it atfer 4 mons. I had to replace the fuel inj.module $1200.00+ I had AN ext warrenty not covered. Next EGR and oil cooler part of it was covered $1500.00 out of pocket .Now head gaskets AND turbo fins another 3500.00 . ENOUGTH sign me up !!!!

We have a 2004 Super duty F-350 that we use for the purpose of carrying the mail on a star route. We have spent over $20,000 in repairs ! How do we get in touch with the ones filing lawsuit ? The motor is blown up now .

  • Auto Plus Towing May 3, 2012, 3:31 am

We have a 2006 f 450 super duty diesel turbo with tow package and have many of the same complaints as previous comments we would be interested in joining class action suit if eligible .

  • Walt Huntsman May 4, 2012, 11:03 am

Is this lawsuit still active? My 2006 F-350 has just over 84,000 miles on it. We purchased it in November, 2009 (thankfully, we also bought an extended warranty) and have only put about 16,000 miles on it since we purchased. In that time, it has gone through three EGR valves. The third one went out after only 4,700 miles. At that time, the dealer also found a broken fulcrum on a rocker arm, a damaged cam, and metal shaving in the engine. The dealer says it needs a new engine; Ford so far is only willing to replace the cam. I am certainly not likely to buy another Ford.

  • Ryan York May 7, 2012, 11:28 am

My coolant system was overpressurizing and whistling, and I had multiple EGR problems, so I put an EGR Delete kit on it along with an oil cooler because the oil was running to hot. A new turbo was put on, because it was bad AND they replaced the new one before they gave it back to me because it to was bad, after they put it back together the found out the head gaskets were bad, so I had them put ARP head studs and black onyx head gaskets so I could “Bullet Proof my truck”. Now about 3,000 miles later it is back in the shop and they are trying to find out why it is whistling again.

Now we where coming home from out of town and the truck died going down the road and them restarted itself to only die again couldn’t get it started after we sat a bit the truck did start and got us home but now will still die going down the road and won’t start. They are telling me $3,000-5,000 to fix it. called for about recall and they stated that our truck was not in the recall???? want to join the lawsuit also so if you have any information for me please forward to hansontammie@aol.com

  • Bret Jones May 9, 2012, 10:33 am

I purchased a ford f-350 2006 with the 6.0 diesel engine. I had a f-350 1997 with a 7.3 diesel in it, sold it bought the 06 with 6.0. THAT WAS THE BIGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. The 2006 6.0 has been nothing but problems. I have been a Ford Fan all of my life. Ford needs to make this wright with me and all of the other people that bought thier trucks with the 6.0 diesel engine in them. If they don’t they will lose a lot of thier loyal customers. I will think twice be fore I buy another ford. Sign me up on the class action law suit.

  • Dale DeKay May 11, 2012, 5:45 am

I would like to be in on this lawsuit, bought a 2004 6.0, it has 23000 miles in the shop with both blown head gaskets and a bad tubo, this is not BUILT FORD TUOGH. what a joke. over 5000.00 in repair costs.

  • Don Higginson May 12, 2012, 8:42 am

We had a 2006 F350 and were returning to Utah from Colorado after my mother’s funeral. We made it as far as Laramie, where we had to replace one cylinder. Fifty miles later, the same thing happened again. They couldn’t work on the truck for a few days because of repair backups, so we were towed 100 miles to Rock Springs where they wanted us to buy a new truck. They replaced 4 cylinders and after returning to Utah, we were told all 6 needed to be replaced and Ford wouldn’t help with any of the repairs! We need to be included in the class action suit.

  • Don Higginson May 12, 2012, 9:04 am

We replaced fuel injectors, not cylinders.

  • Harlan Hall May 12, 2012, 5:06 pm

In the last 3 weeks we have poured $8500.00 into this pile of junk and I don’t know if it will work when this latest repair is completed. It is like they are just throwing parts at it until maybe it will finally run. We also have about $1500.00 in room in board staying at motels and eating out while repairs are completed. We left AZ on May 2 pulling our 5th wheel back to ND and it is now May 12 and we are only as far as Albuquerque, NM. I would like to know how to be included in this class action lawsuit. I had some repairs done to this truck when it was still under warranty but it still was $200 for each instant out of my pocket.

  • Rebecca May 13, 2012, 8:29 pm

I would like to join the class action lawsuit. I bought my F250

6 liter last July. The first time I hauled anything with this truck, the turbo blew up and almost shot a pipe through the hood of the truck.
Please advise if I am able to join. I am a single parent with no means to fix this truck or idea of how to fix this truck. It’s like a giant paper weight in my front yard.
Thank you in advance for any assistance
    Rebecca

  • Roger Scott May 14, 2012, 6:46 pm

I lost the engine on my F250, turbo charged 6.0. I had done every maintenance on time and even changed all my fluids last year because I intended on keeping my truck for 300,000 t0 400,000 miles as FORD led me to believe prior to the sale. FORD wanted $16,000 to replace the engine which blew at 80,000 miles. Not only did they not inform me of the multitude of problems Ford has had with the 6.0 diesel engine, I was charged over $800 for them to tell me that the engine needed to be replaced. Ford advertised and promoted the 6.0 diesel as a good product
yet failed to protect the customer when the engines went bad. This element of FORD Customer Care really stinks. Is this what they define as Ford Tough?

  • Josh Lemmerhirt May 15, 2012, 10:27 am

yeah i just bought a 04 6.0L like in december or janaury of this year so i had it for like 3 months now. ive hauled one thing with the truck since i bought it. ive hauled my buddy’s boat for him and blew 3 injectors on the dang thing. and the dealership wasnt even that nice when i brought it in and told them anout the issue with it. one guy was like that sucks. im like yeah no sh** i bought a truck to haul stuff no to be sitting on the side of the road broken down. If i would of knew the issues with the 6.0 ive would of kept my 90 f350 with the 7.3 in it. that truck had 600000 on the body. the previous owner replaced the 7.3 in it with a 93 7.3 ford should really do something for everyone that bought it. and when i went in to the dealership they said they would be happy to trade it in for me since i just bought it and wanted it gone and that theyll do it to keep customers happy and satisfied. now i called yesterday and they told me they are not in the marketing to buy the 6.0 from me. yeah so much for keeping your customers happy and satisfied. your losing a customer that switched from being a chevy fan to ford fan but i might change back cause at least with the chevy’s the dealership was happy to help me out with engine problems or at least treat their customers with respect. and my buddy has a 6.0 and already dumped of 24000 in to the engine now he has to have a new engine and they are telling him 21000 for the new engine. so if he does it he will have over 45000 in the da** thing.

  • Gary May 15, 2012, 10:52 am

Sign us up how do we get in on this? We have a 2006 fordf450. What a piece of trash. We have spent over 17000. On repairs. Its a money pit that keeps getting deeper.

  • Hershel Prysock May 15, 2012, 8:56 pm

I too have a 2006 f-250, 6.0 diesel. I have already spent over 5000 dollars (high pressure oil unit, cracked plate behind the engine that meant pulling the tranny, all 4 injectors on the right bank) and now the wrench light comes on. Back to the dealer and can’t wait to find out what is wrong now. You are right, can’t even give this piece of junk away. I’m going back to my dodge as soon as possible. Where do I sign up?

  • Matt May 16, 2012, 6:53 pm

What do i need to do to get onto this class action suit? Have a 2005 6.0L. In the shop right now with blown head gasket. EGR delete and ARP head studs on the way! Hope that get me a hundred thousand more mile, just so i feel better about spending 4800.00 to 7000.00 for new top end!!

  • Jammie May 16, 2012, 9:55 pm

What do I need to do to get into the class action law suit. I own a 2004 F250 that had the EGR cooler and valve changed. Still smell antifreeze
everytime I stop the engine, and now i am having trans trouble.
Truck has been down several months. Machanic wants 5,500.00 to fix engine, 7,500.00 to fix trans, that is more than I can get for the truck.
It is a one owner, one driver. The truck has 126,000 miles.

  • Shair Springer May 17, 2012, 4:50 pm

    Major issues with a 2004 F350
Mother and Father in Law purchased this vehicle brand new and had pretty good luck in the beginning but at 60K it went down hill. Huge expenses EGR, Injectors, Fuel Sensor, Fuel pump and the list goes on. It’s in the shop now. It’s cost thousands of $$$. There are 200+ for sale in every area we look on Craigslist. Can’t sell it. Us kids had to buy them a car to get around in because the truck is unreliable. Rediculous. We have followed the servicing by the book. Biggest rip off ever. Can’t believe our government has not stepped in.

Definitley want in the lawsuit. We are in Washington State.

  • Greg May 20, 2012, 11:16 pm

    2003 excursion with 6.0
When you buy a new vehicle and add the diesel engine for an additional $7500, there is a reason I spent the extra money–so I could have a diesel that would last forever. Not so, same problems as everyone else. Injector and turbo replacement, egr replaced 4 times and never fixed. It now sits in my garage with an expired registration because I can’t register it in California because the check engine light is always on. How do I join the lawsuit.

  • Andy Garcia May 21, 2012, 3:34 pm

I have a 2006 Ford F-250 diesel and I am scared to drive it because of the on going problems. In the last year, I replced the egr cooler, the stc fitting, hpop, and injector seals. This truck hasn’t even hit 85,000 miles and i continuesly have to pull out the egr valve to get it clened.it gets old making payments on something that i am afraid to drive. If any advise on this class action lawsuit, please let me know.
    THANK YOU

  • Tyler May 21, 2012, 10:55 pm

Bought a used 2006 F-250. Asked salesman about problems with 6.0 diesel engines and he assured me that the problems were in 2003 and early 2004 models, 2005 and up were solid. Am now having problems with check engine light coming on. Not sure If I can afford to keep truck running, but I need a truck for my construction business.

  • Bill May 22, 2012, 8:25 pm

Purchased 2005 F350 new in December 2004. After 60,000 miles I have replaced Turbo Charger, FMIC, Oil Cooler, EGR Cooler, EGR value, and had other so called minor repairs. Very frustrating since I have always taken very good care of this truck. I recently sent Ford a claim to attempt to recover some of the cost of these repairs, however, it was quickly denied. If I had the resources I would take Ford to court for commiting fraud in selling me a vehicle when they had knowledge of ongoing engine problems. I hope something can be done!

  • Brent May 24, 2012, 2:03 am

I purchased new 2004 Ford F250 Powerstroke in Arizona having owned Chevy diesels prior to this one. The Ford Dealer convinced me that this unit was superior to Chevy and I would have far fewer service issues. It has 51,000 miles of light local driving and is experiencing all of the common problems shared by owners on numerous wweb sites. Loss of power when driving uphill in lower elevations, stalling from standing start at intersections, etc. I am taking to Arizona dealership tomorrow as it appears it is going through the final stages of turbo and EGR failure. I mentioned the massive amount of negative information I found on the net about this engine and the service guy would not discuss or comment on their experience or service policies. As with others I bought this truck to have available for 200,000 miles and now it looks like it is going to be a money pit that I cant even get a decent trade in for. Let me know where to sign on.

I have a 2004 f350. Truck has had injector, FICM, and EGR problems. I just replaced the EGR cooling valve and 65,000 miles later it went out again. I contacted ford and put in a complait about this and they said they couldnt do anything about it. This EGR problem should be a recall item and install one that doesnt breakdown.

  • Robert Jaglowski June 18, 2012, 9:10 am

How do I become part of this lawsuit? I bought new a 2004 F350 6.0L with 31,000 miles on it. Had the turbo changed under warranty at 16,000 miles in 2006 and now again the I need a new turbo. I’m told that I don’t drive it hard enough. How can youprevent rust from developing when the exhaust gases put throught the turbo have moisture in them? Ford needs to stand behind their product not let the customer hang with their poorly designed engine.

I Have a 2004 F250 Super Duty I have had ALOT of problems with it, Cant Not Depend on it for its always breaking down. Truck only has 98,000 miles i want in on the Class Action Lawsuite.

  • ken Otis June 21, 2012, 3:10 pm

I bought a f-250 in late o3 i drove it for 15000 mile and had to replace the motor after the motor was replaced every 1000 miles or so had to replace the ERG. Have nothing good to say about the truck when i decided to trade it in on a CHEVY the dealership would olny give me 12000 dollars for it, it was only 2 years old and only had 48000 miles on it. But lesson learn if Ford ever put the 7.3 in i might buy another. I’m a ford FAN but a CHEVY driver. Is there a way to get some on the money back if you have all ready sold the LEMON or is it just lesson learned.

  • Charles June 23, 2012, 5:08 pm

My recent experience with my ’05 6.0 is a ditto of many stories here and on other forums: hole in egr tube, blown head gasket and other damage. This is on a truck that just turned over 76,000 miles, and does very little towing, and just went over the mile limit of my extended warranty that I paid about $2,300 to have, and never used.
I have a Bully Dog tuner on it, but have always been consciencious about keeping the exhaust temp down, below 800 degrees, and have done all the maintenance the dealer said was needed. I have even asked them if there was anything else that needed to be done. It is indeed disgraceful, and so typical of corporate behavior, for Ford execs to not be concerned enough about their customers to acknowledge the known common problems with their 6.0 engine that they advertised as being great, as being “Built Ford Tough”. I just called an individual who owns an automotive service shop, used to work for Ford, certified Ford tech., etc. has always been a Ford guy. He also had an 05 6.0 F250, and last I had seen him, still owned it. I told him about my truck being in the shop with the usual (as I have learned in the last 48 hrs) problems, and wanted to ask his opinion about repair solutions I read about on the ‘net. He told me he had to put head gaskets in his truck twice, had sold it because of that, and bought a 2010 6.4L. So far he has not had problems with the 6.4, but hates the poor mileage compared to the 6.0. He also stated the tuner is not the problem, just the poor design, materials (such as the mild steel egr pipe) and construction of at least certain areas of the engine. If a certified Ford technician (although not a diesel technician) who knows how to take care of a vehicle has the same problems that the rest of us have, that is a good indication the problem lies with the product, not with the consumer.

The sheer numbers of similar cases being posted on forums here and elsewhere should also be an indication of the extent of the problem with a bad product that Ford Motor Company has sold to its customers, and of the false advertising claims made by Ford.

The obvious: Ford execs, like most large corp. execs, care about their own paycheck to the point of being short-sighted enough to shoot themselves in the feet by screwing their best customers. They don’t care about their customers, they don’t care about people that aren’t in their own income level or higher. The only thing that will remedy this is legal intervention, with the possible exception of the eventual effect of Ford customers turning to other brands.

The sad thing is, my wife and I were screwed just as badly by Pontiac after buying a second Bonneville SSEi, Pontiac’s most expensive vehicle. None of the manufactures’ care about doing what is right, and few, if any, of the dealers care either. They need to be held accountable, and to reimburse their customers for the expense of repairs that should not be happening with the frequency and cost that is happening.

  • Charles June 23, 2012, 5:17 pm

Just another comment on some of the cases of repeated failures and overheating issues: once this occurs, having enough cylinder pressure and heat to blow a head gasket, there is a possiblility of the head being warped. Then, even if good studs are used, such as the ARP studs, and the best gaskets, there is still more likelihood of a recurrence because the warped heads will not seal well. I am not a professional mechanic or even a good amateur one, but just from experience and reading a lot about the issue, as in built performance car engines, this seems to be a real possibility, if not probability. Are the dealerships doing everything that should be done to do the repair or rebuild correctly, to really resolve the issue? Or, are they putting the same bad parts back onto an injured engine where there is deformation or other matters that they do not correct? There is the saying: “The devil is in the details.”

I just found out about this lawsuit . I have had nothing but problems with my F-350 daul 6.0 diesel. over heating .high presure oil line, rear axel seals, trans , turbo, and brakes. I only have 63450 on it .And had to pay for almost all of the repairs .
when i called ford to tell about the truck and why wasn’t it covered they gave me nothing but a hard time.. in fact when i told them that i have had fords since 1979. They said thats not there problem and they dont have to worry about one person. i was very mad after that answer and told him how i felt.i wish they never did away with the 7.3 i had over 220000 miles on that one . the guy that bought that truck is still driving it.

    thank you
    please help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tye borel June 26, 2012, 10:26 am

I have an 07 f350 6.0 the truck has under 60k miles on it at 20k it went in for oil pump problems. Now its in for egr and numerous other problems the truck is 4 months over the 5 year warranty and im looking at 4k in parts and labor. The truck has been rann easy and has had oil changes religously, what a joke 50k truck nothing but headaches, thanks ford!We pay a premium to get a diesel and they end up costing more for them in the long run.The government should never have bailed them out it cost the tax payers then and now its costing again.

  • mike sheehan June 28, 2012, 11:39 am

I had a 2005 F-350 Great truck untill the engine went to crap starting with the egr and went from there. The repair bills were so high that I had to sell the truck do to lack of work and could not afford to invest any more more money in it.

  • mike stanton June 28, 2012, 4:38 pm

we own a 2005 F250 superduty only have 77000 miles, and have replaced the turbo$3000.00 now head gaskets, and streached head bolts for$5000.00 when is all this going to stop???? i’ve owned ford my whole life, maby its time to upgrade to chevy????

  • Greg Brown June 29, 2012, 3:20 pm

I have a 2005 F-250 6.0 liter deisel and I have had to replace the EGR valve, oil cooler unit, alternater, fuel pump all in the last 4 months this 6.0 liter is a joke, not only a money pit. I would like to know what I have to do to get in on this lawsuit. I have spent over 3000.00 in the past few months. The bad part is no one will trade with you because of the engine problems.

  • Clifford Olson June 30, 2012, 7:54 pm

We would like to get in on this lawsuit also. We have a 2004 F350 Super Duty 6.0 liter engine truck. Maintained regular at our Ford garage. Purchased brand new with 22 miles on it. As of June 2012 our mileage is 81,000. The past year we have had to replace the EGR valve twice, replaced the low oil sensor pressure unit, oil filter housing had crack on it.. we replaced… the air coolent tube had hole it it…replaced…
The last incident bearing went out in the turbo… mind you we were in route on highway @ 60 miles an hour with trailer in tow. So much for our vacation…. We spent hours waiting for 2 tow trucks to be towed back home. As of June 21 2012 truck is at Ford garage in Tillamook Oregon awaiting to get fixed with approx $4000.00 in repairs needed. When does it end???? We have owned Fords all our life but never experienced this much problems.

  • AL July 2, 2012, 8:53 am

I want in if I can! I have the 2004 f250 crew cab short bed with 155k. Owned almost 1yr. Recently started having problems with no start, and no fuel going to injectors. I suspect FICM. Truck down 1 month so far. I Use truck for work.

  • Tom VanDeYacht July 2, 2012, 3:05 pm

I have a 2005 Ford F550 6.0 liter diesel with 133,000 miles. Problems began around 90,000 miles and were initially covered under warranty. Since then I have stuck over $15,000 into injectors, EGR valve, Turbo and head gaskets. This is ridiculous and we need to be compensated for not only our costs but also the loss of the vehicles value. Who wants to purchase a 6.0 liter? Let me know how I can be added to a lawsuit.

  • Mark July 2, 2012, 3:09 pm

We bought (2) Ford 2006 LCF’s with many of the same problems except they are 4.5 Liter engines. The 4.5 Liter is the smaller version of the 6.0 Liter engine. Does this lawsuit also apply to the 4.5 Liter engines?

  • Robert Weeks July 4, 2012, 8:22 am

We bought 20 Ford trucks between 2005 thru 2007 with 15 of them being 6L deisels.
I only have 3 left on the road & have put at least $8,000 into each in the last couple months. overall have spent over 6 figures trying to maintain a fleet of work trucks to no avail we have a warehouse full of trucks that will not run!
Ford needs to compensate for this abomination of a motor!

    • Charles July 5, 2012, 12:55 pm

…. and there are Smart Azzs on any forum you look at about Ford Diesel pickups who choose to believe and comment that is all about maintenance, that we who have had the usual expensive repairs are just dummies. Your example, Robert, is one of the perfect pieces of evidence that the smart Azzs are actually rather dim and close minded. Thanks for sharing your story. I have saved it to post in reply to the smug smart az’s on the forums.

Everyone who has been financially hurt by this motor and by FoMoCo needs to contact one of the law firms involved in the various class action suits.

For those who don’t know, a lawyer involved explained to me the all of these separate class actions being filed will likely end up being consolidated into one suit they call an MDL (multi-district lawsuit) which saves on expenses and time. It is then handled by one judge, with a decision being handed down to the various district courts for them to administer.

  • WILLIAM C JONES July 4, 2012, 3:29 pm

I HAVE HAD ALL KINDS OF TROUBLE WITH THIS 6.0L ENGINE, from oil leaks, fuel in water, intake manefold water leak, turbo going bad and what next 2004 f450

  • David Echer July 7, 2012, 4:32 pm

I am in the same club as all of you. 3 days before the warranty ran out on my 2005 F250 6.0 diesel I took it to the dealer telling them I smelled coolant and had lost about a gallon of coolant in about 2 weeks time (no dropping any coolant ever on the ground), the truck was blowing white and black/blue smoke, and had no power, well low and behold I had a blown egr, blown ficm module (another faulty product due to bad solder and engine heat/vibration) blown turbo (coked?) and a diesel fuel leak to my price of around 2300.00 They should have replaced the ficm module under warranty but they said it’s not a bad product just bad solder and the heat causes the issues. well low and behold my warranty is over and it has been 40 miles YES 40 miles and guess what my truck is now BILLOWING white smoke out the exhaust!!! I had to have the truck towed in on my dime and now they said it is out of warranty but when they checked it last week the egr cooler was ok. Now they said it looks like i have a blown egr cooler, blown oil cooler and possibly head gasket / stretched head bolt issues. They are going to diagnose and get back to me next week but even though I stated all these issues on the warranty claim I no longer have a warranty so they are not covered? They say 3-6000 my cost???? WTH? I am so feed up with this!!!! Please send me info on how to join a lawsuit…
    Dlecher75@sbcglobal.net

    Thanks, Dave

  • Fred Branch July 10, 2012, 12:05 am

I did the bullet proof I have lots of problems. I have thier entire kit plus oil cooler with cold weather kit. The motor won’t run until motor hits 180 degrees or more thermostat dose not work correctly . I have around 10 grand in this engine so far and very skeptical about this class action law suite . I don’t know what to do!! I have owned so many fords and now I feel like I have been betrayed by the one American built truck that everyone loved and now not so much .

  • Darrell Warren July 10, 2012, 8:09 am

It blow up with only 166,000 miles.

  • KEVIN GRENKA July 12, 2012, 3:08 pm

I HAVE A 6.0 2003 AND ITS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS FIX ONE THING AND THEN ITS ANOTHER, FORD KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM IN 2003 AS THEY BOUGHT BACK SOME OF THESE 6.0 DO TO THE LEMON LAW, THE PROBLEM IS THEY KEPT SELLING THEM KNOWING THE REPAIR PROBLEMS THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE, ITS NOT ABOUT YOU OR I OR HOW WE FEEL WHEN WE ARE BROKE DOWN I THE MIDDLE OF NO MANS LAND ITS ALL ABOUT THE $$$$, ME, I AM LIKE YOU HANGING IN THERE.

  • Jim Fallin July 12, 2012, 5:30 pm

2005 F350 has been plagued with similar issues, repair costs… have had to replace oil cooler, head gaskets, injectors, high pressure oil seal, etc., etc., etc. Truck also developed extreme shimmy in front end and steering wheel, so had to repleace steering shocks and front tires (four times)… worse yet, truck now does “California hop”… jumps all over the place a highway speeds… local dealer says I have to live with it because its design flaw Ford can’t fix! PLEASE ADD MY NAME TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT… TRUCK IS MORE THAN A LEMON… FORD CLAIMS TO BUILDING TOUGH TRUCKS IS LAUGHABLE AT BEST, CRIMINAL AT WORSE!!!!!

  • Troy Morris July 12, 2012, 7:45 pm

I own 6.0. F250. And this thing has been a money pit. Ford has ripped people off Sign me up please

  • Nicholas Walker July 12, 2012, 10:01 pm

Please get me in on this too. I have a 2004 F250 I have had to replace the oil cooler, EGR Cooler and valve, etc. It has cost several thousand dollars on my part. I own my own buisiness and without a dependable truck I can’t operate. I bought a diesel for the longevity that comes with owning one not to buy it then put several thousand dollars into it just to keep it running. And my fuel economy jumps up and down so bad I do not even know what kind of milage I am getting.

    Thanks,
    Nick from Ruston Louisiana

My 2004 Ford F-350 6.0 Supre Duty has had three major repair insidents sense I baught it in 2009. Oil leaks, a cracked oil pump gear, and a failed injector preasure regulator. Now the service tech tells me, an EGR valve failure has caused the intake manifold to become clogged with carbon. She say’s the repair will cost $900 with another $350 for the EGR Valve. For some reason all of these repairs seem to run about $900. Help! I’m not made of money and I’m on the edge of my chair to see what will happen next. I thought this was a 300,ooo mile engine.

we have a fleet of fords 6.0 we must have spent 50000 in repais over the last 5 years. FORD MUST DO SOMETHING.

  • Ken Suhre July 16, 2012, 10:47 am

I own a 06 (bought new) F250 6.0. I can honestly say I have not had any engine related problems with this truck and I have been full-time RVing, pulling a 5th wheel, since purchasing the truck. Did’nt know of all the problems till later. People always comment when you tell them it’s a 6.0 and want to know if you have had any problems. Well, I just hit 80,000 miles ….waiting for something to happen???

    • Malcom E. Kelley August 4, 2012, 6:51 pm

Hope you do not have trouble but and a big but there are too many problems with this engine. Wishing you the best.

  • Robert McDonald July 17, 2012, 9:35 pm

Not going to tell all because the story’s are all the same. These trucks are junk due to engine problems I have two towing buisneses and own ten trucks that have NAVSTAR engines all between 2005 to 2010 and all stay in the shop more than on the road these things usually don’t go far bit it’s worth a try and even had one that burned to the ground was told I should probably look int an extended warranty why do they can finish puttinge out of buisnes. • Ted Greenfield July 18, 2012, 6:53 pm

This is more of the same. I had the EGR cooler relpaced under warreny & they did not replace the Oil cooler which is Fords Policy. I just spent $5100.00 replaceing the oil cooler, EGR valve & both head gaskets which were apparently overheated when the EGR cooler went. I need some help on this let alone the fact that the truck is almost worthless even with the work done. Count me in if possible.

  • Mark Montesano July 18, 2012, 9:48 pm

I bought a 2003 F350 and took delivery on a Friday and had to have it towed back to dealer on Monday due to black smoke out of tailpipe and loss of power. “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. I could use more colorful language but trying to be a gentlman. Needless to say things have not gotten any better.
The question is now what to do with a truck that has 73K miles with a known problem that will only continue to get worse. Ford should step up and provide some relief.

  • Robert Peralta July 23, 2012, 11:46 pm

I bought a 2004 ford f350 4×4 Lariat yes fully loaded. My dream truck, so much for my dream truck, nothing but problems!! It’s not right for Ford to get away with this and still make money off a lawsuit as well. I don’t want money, I just want it fix RIGHT, or give us a NEW one for our troubles! Count me in for a lawsuit!!!

  • Bo Franks July 24, 2012, 3:20 pm

I have a 2006 ford diesel truck my truck recently blew a head gasket and know they tell me that i have to replace the whole motor at $12,000 i have heard that so many of the trucks have problems with the motor what can i do to be apart of the law suit. thank you BO Franks

  • Hershel Prysock July 25, 2012, 2:22 pm

Well, I almost made it out of Fort Worth this time, before the “wrench” light came on. I was going to see my grandsons in San Antonio but now I will spend my time looking for a DODGE. I have had all the same problems with the same results, more problems. The truck looks good, sitting in my driveway. Come on Ford, step up to the plate and take responsibility for selling a known bad product. I have a small construction company and depend on my truck. No confidence in any Ford product. Thanks for sticking it to the American working man…

  • Charles Vaughan July 25, 2012, 2:39 pm

Can someone please tell me who to contact to join this law suit. I live in Virginia and have a 2003 F450 6.0 used to tow our 39 foot 5th wheel. Almost every time we prepare to go out or while on the road we end up facing huge repair, towing, or parts replacement bills. I am the original owner of the vehicle and it just turned 42,000 miles. It has been in the shop for the last 3-4 weeks and the Ford dealer cannot figure out why it just stops running with no warning. They have even had to be towed back to the dealership twice.

  • Hershel Prysock July 25, 2012, 10:25 pm

This is my final entry as I found a dealer that would take my 06 King Ranch in trade. Yes, I found a 2001 Dodge 5.9 in awesome condition. It cost me a lot of money to trade but, I feel it was worth it. The Ford had the best ride of any truck and had all the extras but it was totally unreliable. I feel we were all taken by Ford and Ford does not care about the little people. Good luck on getting any help from Deep Pockets…

  • Gary Hayes July 26, 2012, 12:17 pm

I have a 2006 F250 Lariat FX4 with 80,000 miles on it and i have had numerous problem with it also. It was in ford dealer for blowing white smoke and after 3 months of being in and out of the dealer the actually got it fixed. that was in 2010. about 4 months ago i had the FICM go out on it and had it totally rebuilt and was running good for a few months and the other day i changed all the fluid throughout the entire truck and 2 days later the thing started to get a miss in it while i was driving it. took it to ford and had it diagnosed and they said that #8 injector failed on startup and the longer it ran it lost #4,then #2, then #6. the whole left side. I dont drive the truck all the time. It usually is parked in the garage unless i need it to tow with or pick something up in it. It is a very nice truck and well taken care of but the engine sucks. I was gonna trade it in and the dealer i went to didnt even want it. It is pretty bad you have a beautiful truck that should be at least 20,000 still and nobody wants it because of fords bad design of a motor. I will never buy another ford because of this. I would like to join in on the class action lawsuit but everywhere i have call around me said that they are not taking anymore clients because they lawsuit has been filed. Does anyone know where i can get on the lawsuit at around cleveland, ohio?

  • Steve Dundas July 26, 2012, 6:33 pm

I have a 2006 F350,same engine problems beginning to show up as everyone else seems to have,my truck is just turning 7 years old(oct 2012) and only has 23,000 miles on it!! This truck is still brand new,and I absolutely love it other than this engine situation.Bottom line $47,000 dollar truck-23,500 miles on it,and I can’t trust it to leave town.Somebody should have to take responsibility for this!! Please let me know how to join this lawsuit.I live in Reno,Nevada. Thanks

  • Jack Werner July 27, 2012, 12:01 am

I have a 2004 F-250 6.0 Diesel with low mileage, I’ve had the same problems as everyone else with this engine and getting really tired of Ford knowing all along from day 1 that the 6.0 was a BAD engine but did nothing about it. For the money that I have spent on this truck and it is still having the same problems again Ford sucks. Please if anyone knows how to get on board with this lawsuit I would love to sign up. I live in Sacramento Calif.

  • Andy Wilcox July 27, 2012, 9:57 pm

Yes please count me in on the lawsuit i have a 2005 6.0 and when it had 75000 miles on it both head gaskest blowed, the turbo went out and i had to change the high pressure oil pump. i had to replace the fornt cover of the motor and the crank case oil pump. were ive had work done to the truck and all of it was done through a dealership in lebanon VA. they was suspose to be the best around on the 6.0 i had the work done in feb. 2012 and two months later the turbo went out again and they changed it and it ran fine til week ago and thats when all the injectors and fuel pump went down so please include me in this law suit. i have all my recipts to back this up

i had a 2004 f250 6.0 ive put approx. 4 to 5 grand into my truck in the past year and a half would have been more if my ford dealer wasnt so good to us and recently they advised me to get rid of it when it broke down again and repair costs were going to exceed 7,00$. They told me to stop putting money into and get out from under it . ive called ford myself and was given the polite ford dont care response something needs to be done contct me if i can help or even get involved got a big truck pmnt now just to get out of this nightmare i had im not happy with ford always been a ford guy and now own a new dodge

  • Josh July 31, 2012, 9:02 pm

2007 f350 $62,000.00 wanted a good strong truck… haha 42,000 miles turbo replaced 62,000 miles 2 injectors replaced. 96,000 miles 2 more injectors replaced. 99,000 miles head gasket replaced 2 more injectors. 100600 miles; stranded on the side of the road for most of the day because 12 hours from home because ford did not torque down retainer bolts properly(per other ford dealer). 125000 replaced egr cooler 165000 replaced #7 injector 172000 replaced ficm. 180000 replaced radiator 200000 replaced High pressure oil pump, 235000 repair man says engine has no compression. It will only cost a couple of more thousands of dollars to rebuild… let it be known that this truck has had oil changed every 3500-4500 miles..

the funny part is only 5 years earlier……

2002 f250 $34,000 180000 mi replaced fuel return line, 195000 replaced rear end. um um still thinking o yea sold it with 280000 for a new 2007 6.0 (what a dumb *$$) I just dont understand. Please please add me to the list or forward me any info (ford for LIFE ?????)

  • Malcom E. Kelley August 4, 2012, 7:00 pm

I purchased a preowned 2004 F250 6.0 with 55,000 mi. pulled camper to Myrtle Beach,S.C. for bike week. Went to fuel up and dark fluid running out the exhaust. Ford Motor Co. Conway, S.C. for repairs; EGR cooler, injectors, etc. Truck ran ok , 110,000 and more dark fluid, smoking exhaust,???? We must make Ford Motor Co. and anyone involved with manufacture of the engines do the right thing for American consumers. I will never buy another Ford product again. My wife wants a new vehicle, guess what it won’t be.

  • Joe Evans August 5, 2012, 8:35 pm

I too am experiencing the same troubles as everyone with a 6.0.
Wish I could get rid of it ASAP. I will never buy a ford again, car or truck. I’m from northern Minnesota and am wondering how to jump on board. I would be happy to get repair bills back but, if I can’t get rid of it, a Cummins is going under the hood. Not going to rebuild this P.O.S.

We leased a new 06 F350 with a 6L engine, at 60K miles after more trips to the Ford dealer than I can remember we returned it. However during that same period of time we made a mistake of purchasing a used 2004 F450 6L engine , we are currently on our third EGR valve. and second set of inter oil cooler and after cooler. The EGR valve failed at 108,000 miles then again at 138K and then again at 142,500 miles. The inter oil cooler and after cooler failed at 138K at 142,500 the inter oil cooler and after cooler failed again, a new radiator reservoir and cooling lines were also replaced. At 164K 8 new injectors and a high pressure oil pump were replaced. At 165,500 one of the new reservoir cooling lines failed, when we picked up the truck Ford informed us that the inter oil pump and after cooler were on their way out again This truck is now parked, I no longer trust it and have spent more on the repairs than I paid for the truck. This is a 04 F450 crew cab XLT Super Duty 4X4, manual transmission.
    I have a 93 F350 4X4 with a 7.3 L engine. It has more than 1 million
miles on it. What happened to the 7.3’s.
In addition we own 3 Peterbilts with CAT 3406 engines, one 3406A, one 3406C, and one 3406 E Model motors, if any one of these motors experienced these types of failures in such a short period of time, Caterpillar would have had a factory rep on this so fast it would spin your head. Caterpillar would have replaced the entire engine at no charge if that is what it took to fix the problem. If Ford wishes to continue to compete in the commercial fleet industry they need to be prepared to step up to the plate like the Big Boys, If you can’t run with with the big dogs, stay on the porch. Put up or Shut up. Don’t tell me the 6L is as good as the 7.3, Our local Ford Dealer had the audacity to tell me it was California diesel not them. The 6.0s have embarrassed me, stranded me and cost me customers. Please add us to the lawsuit. We are looking at Dodge for our next truck.

    Sincerely,

Bought a used 2006 F-350 with the notorious 6.0 engine in 2009. It had 50K when we bought it and we had no problems with it until June 2011. It broke down after blowing white smoke on my way out to work on my first day. I had been unemployed for 2 years. Had it towed to the nearest Ford dealership in Silverthorne, Colorado. Had to rent a car. A few days later it was ready to pick up. EGR and $6500 repair bill. Like I said, I had been unemployed 2 years and didn’t have the money. Borrowed it from the bank (used titles to secure the loan). 10 days later, it broke down again. Towed back to the same dealership. Said it was a problem on the other side of the engine from the first repair. Of course! Another $960 for a total of $7400! Paid that with my first paycheck! By October, was finally able to trade it off with help from CJ Adams of Groove Toyota in Littleton. What a nightmare!!!!

Is there a class action in Colorado that can help us recover the repair bill? Of course I emailed Ford corporate and the reply was that the 6.0 engine had no recall.

I have a 04 f350 6.0L!!! Where do I start.. I bought it with 86k miles on it.. what have I put in it? Nothing but money. 2 Turbos, high pressure valve, ect.. let me just get to the point.. at 166k mikes it stalled out on the highway with two cracked heads and block.. but never got hot enough to crack anything.. now sitting in a shop spending our second 10,000 dollars putting a new engine in.. thank you Ford!!

I would like to know how to get involved with this law suite. I have a 2004 f250. It has been in the shop for many different issues. I have more invested in repairs than the truck is worth.

I bought my 6.0 brand new, in 06. I have 73,000 miles on it and the ERG went out last October. It’s yard art and hopefully parked it before it took out anything else. When put on computer, it showed #3 glo plug out. I even called corporate and was told that no problems have been documented from the plant it was manufactured in. I agree FORD should bite the bullet. TOYOTA did. What’s wrong with admitting fault, we tried and true Ford owners just want our due! I live in Washington and need to know if any suits have been filed in this state?

I have spent over $2750 in the last 2 years on FICM, oil cooler, and EGR cooler. These are unscheduled above average engine maintenance items that left me having to tow my truck for repairs within 100,000 miles. Beautiful truck when it’s not in the shop. I feel betrayed by Ford and bought my ’06 diesel because it was “Ford Tough”. I feel that they should have to advertise “Ford Betrayed Trust”. How do I get in the suit before something else goes out. My 2000 GMC had 275,000 miles without any engine dis-assembly.
