Conseco LifeTrend Life Insurance Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Improper Premium Charges and Deductions Receives Nationwide Class Certification.

A class action lawsuit against Conseco Life Insurance Co. (“Conseco Life Insurance ” or “Conseco” or “Defendant”) pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (styled In re Conseco Life Ins. Co. LifeTrend Ins. Sales and Marketing Litigation, Civil Action Case Nos. No. M 10-02124 SI, No. C 08-05746 SI; No. C 10-00652 SI) alleging, among other things, that Conseco breached thousands of Conseco “LifeTrend” insurance policies by including allegedly improper premium charges and improper deductions from Conseco policyholders’ accounts, has been certified as a nationwide class action lawsuit by District Judge Susan Illston, according to a class action lawsuit news report.

The Court in the Conseco LifeTrend Life Insurance class action lawsuit reportedly certified a nationwide class consisting of the following class members:

all persons in the United States who (1) own or owned a Conseco LifeTrend 3 or LifeTrend 4 Policy, and (2) have received since October 2008, or in the future may receive, pursuant to a settlement with state insurance regulators or otherwise, any of the following: (a) notice that an annual premium is due, notwithstanding such person’s prior invocation of the Policy’s Optional Premium Payment Provision (“OPP Provision”); (b) notice of increased expense charges under the Policy; or (c) notice of increased cost-ofinsurance deductions under the Policy.

    I purchased a 100,000 policy 18 years ago that is now held by Conseco. I was paying $2600 a year for 18 years and then they notified me that it would now be $11,000 per year.
