I have applied for bariatric surery the first week in June, and now it is July 26,2011 I have sumited all the requirements to cigna. I have
checked with the insurance company first to see if its covered . I sumitted the Psychological assessment , a Nutritional Assessment, a letter from my Physician stating on their letterhead my past history and recommending me for Bariatric Surgery , copies of my medical records from 3 to 5 years , a six month medically supervised diet and exercise program with monthly weigh-ins within the past two years all the requirements they ask for and my claim is pending . Why is it pending ?

I am going through the same experience. They have lost my documents twice and now it appears that I have to resubmit the psychological evaluation and the nutritionist’s report. My friend who is under the care of a different surgeon also going through the same ordeal. Do patients have any recourse?

    Cigna

Cigna PPO, approved my benefits for the lap band and two weeks before claimed it was not covered in my plan!!! After submitting all the documents, getting the psychologist evaluation and nutritionist all out of pocket expenses they claim its not covered in my plan. I have several medical conditions and 37 years old mother of two 5’1 and 210 pounds. Still deny my coverage what’s the point of having health insurance if you cant use it to save your life…..
