A class action settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corporation d/b/a Metra (“Metra” or “Defendant”) pending in the United States District Court for the District of Illinois (styled James Rowe v. Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corporation d/b/a Metra, Class Action Case No. Case No. 1:10-cv-03314) alleging, among other things, that Metra violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 (“FACTA”), by providing plaintiff with an electronically printed receipt from a ticket vending machine (“TVM”) located along the Metra Electric line that contained the expiration date of his credit card, according to the Metra Rail Ticket Vending Machine Class Action Settlement agreement.
The Metra Rail Ticket Vending Machine class action settlement reportedly includes all persons who, from February 8, 2010 through June 4, 2010, were issued an electronically printed receipt from a ticket vending machine on the Metra Electric line which contained the expiration date of the credit card or debit card used in the transaction.
The Metra Rail Ticket Vending Machine class action settlement reportedly provides that Defendant will pay a total of $50,000 into a settlement fund to be divided pro rata among participating claimants (not to exceed $100 per claimant).
A Final Approval Hearing on the fairness and reasonableness of the Metra Rail Ticket Vending Machine Settlement Agreement will reportedly be held before the Court on January 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
