Female Goldman Sachs Employees File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint AgainstGoldman, Sachs & Co. and The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Alleging Sex Discrimination.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Goldman, Sachs & Co. and The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (collectively “Goldman Sachs” or “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (styled H. Christina Chen-Oster, Lisa Parisi and Shanna Orlich v. Goldman, Sachs & Co. and The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., Civil Action Case No. 10 CIV 6950) alleging, among other things, that Goldman Sachs discriminates against female employees by paying female professionals less than male professionals, disproportionately promoting men over  equally or more qualified women, undervaluing female employees’ performance, providing less administrative support to women than men, blocking business opportunities for women and providing less training and mentorship to female employees, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

The Goldman Sachs sex discrimination class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following classes of persons:

All female financial-services employees who are at the Associate, Vice President and Managing Director corporate level employed by Goldman, Sachs & Co. Inc. and its predecessors; and The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and its predecessors; in the United States at any time from September 10, 2004 through the resolution of the lawsuit for claims under Title VII.

All female financial-services employees who are at the Associate, Vice President and Managing Director corporate level employed by Goldman, Sachs & Co. Inc. and its predecessors; and The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and its predecessors; in the City of New York at any time from July 7, 2002 through the resolution of the lawsuit for claims under NYCHRL.

The Goldman Sachs gender discrimination class action lawsuit complaint reportedly seeks injunctive relief to remedy alleged systemic sex discrimination, an award of back pay and front pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages and attorneys’ fees.
