Lend Lease World Trade Center (WTC) Class Action Settlement Announced

A Class Action Lawsuit Against Bovis Lend Lease Over The New York World Trade Center WTC Clean Up Effort Has Settled

A class action settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit filed by workers on the World Trade Center clean up site in New York, according to a class action settlement news report.

The Lend Lease World Trade Center WTC class action lawsuit reportedly alleged that Lend Lease and other defendants (including the City of New York) did not do enough to protect WTC workers from dust, asbestos and toxins in the air during the rescue and clean up following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The Lend Lease World Trade Center WTC class action settlement reportedly could pay up to $575 million dollars (if certain requirements are met) out of the WTC Captive Insurance Company policy established by Congress to protect New York City and its contractors from liability costs.

What about us in the military that was activated with the NY Army National Guard and was at ground zero the night of Sept 11 and provided security for the site and we were provided with paper mask for the first 5 days. till proper breathing devices were given to us. I now have severe breathing problems and initially went to the DR that they determined for us that were at Ground Zero. We were never afforded the opportunity to be part of this class action suit and I still have my original filters from the site with what ever we were breathing is in them. Thanks for included us serving in the Military!

I was mobilized by the Marine Corps Reserves Command (MCRSC at the time) and spent a month working directly in the pit with NO breathing protection except a wet t-shirt. We didn’t fear the dust because Christy Todd-Whitman (Dir of EPA) said “the air quality is safe”. I now have bisipital scarring on both lungs from imbedded glass fibers. The military has refused to treat..just monitoring my declining lung capicity via spiromtry tests. I filled out the info online to be included while I was in Afghanistan and then again in Iraq and tried to contact attorneys but was shut down. The military is screwed again!!! Thanks for thinking of us and our familes!
