Hello! I got genworth long term disability, it used to be G.E. then, for ten years I had been paying, when I decided to stop, for the economy had hit my family, and requesting for a refund. They stated that, I stopped payment a month in advance, that let us say I stopped payment in November, so last payment was October, than it was ready September that I paid for October because, they always collect a month late?
Because of this, they refused and denied my refunds of more than $20,000.00 that should really be helping my family now. Help Ed. . . please. What do you think I should do?
My wife and I bought long term disability from GE about 15 years ago and got a bomb dropped on us yesterday. Effective immediately, Genworth has doubled our premium. We are now in our early 70’s and on a fixed income. I would imagine this has happened to many older people but the question is what is our recourse, if any??

I am 75 and my husband is 79. We also have long term care insurance from Genworth (formerly GE). We purchased it 13 years ago for around $2000 annually. This year the premium has risen to $5800, more than doubling our premium. I would like to join a class action suit as I think our age bracket was unfairly targeted for such a large increase. If increases are necessary, there should be more increases in early years, not for those who have been paying premiums for several years.
WE ARE RESEARCHING FOR CLASS ACTION SUIT, WE HAVE PAID FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS AND COLLECTED NOTHING, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE THEY HAVE INCREASED OUR PREMIUM BY 78 %.
