DirectBuy Discount Shopping Club Class Action Lawsuit Settlement Rejected By Court

DirectBuy Discount Shopping Club Class Action Lawsuit Settlement Rejected By Federal District Court Judge.

A proposed class action settlement of a class action lawsuit against franchise members-only discount shopping club DirectBuy Inc. (“DirectBuy” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut (styled Christopher Wilson et al v. DirectBuy, Inc. et al, Civil Action No. 3:09-cv-590) brought on behalf of a putative class of current and former DirectBuy members, alleging, among other things, that DirectBuy engaged in fraud by purporting to offer its members products at the manufacturer’s or supplier’s price and allegedly failed to to disclose rebates, discounts and other payments from manufacturers and suppliers, has been rejected by U.S. District Court Judge Janet C. Hall, according to the Court’s ruling on Plaintiffs’ Motion For Final Approval of Class Settlement and Related Motion in the DirectBuy Discount Shopping Club class action lawsuit.

I hope that some settlement can be reached. As a direct buy member, I was disappointed to hear that Direct Buy was in fact making money on sales. They claimed very clearly that their only source of revenue was membership fees and all savings were passed on to their members. That was not true and their members need to be reimbursed in some way for the profit they took.

I HATE DIRECT BUY AND BETA FINANCE COMPANY, THEY STOLE 6.400 DOLLARS – MEMBERSHIP.
My wife and I purchased a membership with Direct Buy several months ago and have been making payments to a Beta finance company, that was suggested by this company. We have not missed any payments, but the interest rate is 17.75%. We have never used the company to purchase anything since we signed the contract.

We have searched the internet about the company and have found thousands of complaints concerning this buying club. Our contract says that we cannot cancel our membership and none of the costs are refundable. When we signed the contract, we were told that we must make our decision at that very moment and could not have any time to think it over before we made our decision. At the time, we were planning to build a new home, so we decided it might be worth the possible savings on products that we were informed of.

Direct Buy has high pressure membership sales techniques. Direct Buy is a terrible company to do business with. They lie, they scheme and will say or do anything to get your money. Please tell everyone you know and those online to keep away from these scammers. They are masters of deception and lie.

I like a lot of other folks were scammed into believing we could save a load of money by joining. We lost our 4,200 sq. ft. home in February 3, 2010 to a massive fire. We were going to rebuild and went to a Direct Buy presentation. We left thinking we were going to save literally thousands of dollars in rebuilding. I tried and tried shopping at our Memphis, Tn branch only to find out that I could find all the items just as cheap or cheaper at my local hardware store. After DB got our money we immediately became second class citizens not wanting to give us any time to guide us through our needs. One of the perks upon joining was getting a Direct buy Sherwin Williams discount card. It was supposed to save us 40% in costs. You can imagine we were going to need a lot of paint for a new home. We went to our local SW store and the sales clerk told us he could use our card but it would end up costing us more than the paint they currently had on sale. RIPOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once you pay up front you are relegated to a second class citizen. I recently bought some windows from DB in August and they were not built to spec. DB never once offered to help and I am still trying to get them to work with me to replace the window. What a joke.
