A class action settlement in a lawsuit brought by Julius Briggs on behalf of similarly situated military veterans against the United States Government has received approval by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (San Fransisco), according the news reports.
The class action settlement provides the United States will pay some $7.4 million to settle the lawsuit over the government’s allegd debt collection practices in recovering money owed for on-base purchases. According to news reports, more than 6,700 former members of the military could receive $10,000 each in the settlement.
