After receiving your claim form, I checked my Verizon cell phone bills & noticed the only “Chula Vista” charge is “Chula Vista City UUT”. Is this charge the same as “TUT” mentioned on in your claim form? Thanks in advance for your reply. Dave
Mr. Wentworth,
My name is Jason Evans, I am a lawyer with Casey Gerry law firm, one of two firms designated as Class Counsel in this case. Please feel free to call me, I am happy to answer any questions on this matter: (619) 238-1811.
You are right, Verizon calls the subject tax “Chula Vista City UUT”. This is the tax involved in the lawsuit. All the telephone carriers list the tax in a different way, for example, AT&T lists the tax which is the subject of this lawsuit as, “City Utility Users Tax”. The Chula Vista Municipal Code refers more specifically to the tax which is the subject of the lawsuit as “Telephone Users Tax”.
Sincerely,
Jason
