2003 Buzzard Bay Oil Spill Class Action Settlement Of Class Action Lawsuit Against  Bouchard Transportation Co. Preliminarily Approved By Court.

A class action settlement of class action lawsuit brought against Bouchard Transportation Co. (“Bouchard”) in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts allegeding that Bouchard owned a barge that struck an underwater reef in the bay and leaked up to 98,000 gallons of No. 6 oil on April 27, 2003 known as the 2003 Buzzards Bay oil spill, has been preliminarily approved by United States District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, according to a class action settlement news report.

The Bouchard Transportation Buzzards Bay oil spill class action settlement reportedly involves approximately 2,500 property owners in nine towns on the bay, from Westport to Gosnold.   Bouchard Buzzards Bay oil spill settlement class members are reportedly defined as anyone who owned waterfront property on Buzzards Bay at the time of the spill, including a deeded easement, that was impacted by the oil, unless otherwise excluded.
