Consumers File Privacy Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Ringleader Digital And Others Over Alleged Use Of Media Stamp, HTML5 Databases and Mobile Tracking Cookies.
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Ringleader Digital (“Ringleader Digital”) and others who allegedly worked with Ringleader Digital such as CNN, Medialets and Whitepages.com (collectively “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Central District of California (styled Charlie Aughenbaugh and Tony Weber v. Ringleader Digital, Inc., Cable News Network, Inc., Surfline/Wavetrak, Inc., Whitepages.com, Inc., Travel Channel, L.L.C., Accuweather, Inc., Go2 Media, Inc., Merriam-Webster, Inc. and Medialets, Inc.), alleging, among other things, that Ringleader Digital and its advertisers exploited the operating software on class members’ mobile devices with Ringleader’s Media Stamp product by ceating a database called Ringleader Global Unique ID (“RLGUID”) in iPhones and other mobile devices’ HTML5 software for the purpose of tracking cell phone users’ internet activities without their permission, purportedly in violation of various federal and state computer fraud laws, privacy laws and consumer protection statutes, according to a class action lawsuit news report.
Th Ringleader Digital Media Stamp mobile tracking cookie class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of, inter alia, the following class of persons, unless otherwise excluded:
Each and every individual who owns or owned a mobile hand held computer, including, but not limited to mobile phones and laptops, that had a “RLDGUID” database or any other identifying tag or mark placed on that device by any of the Defendants through the use of the HTML5 database feature.
