I have submitted my story several times now. My son has been sick from April 15 till now. He improved after discontinuing the Childrens Motrin. However, his low red blood cell count continues. At one point, he was considered for blood transfusion. His blood work is still abnormal but better. I have medical records and school correspondence for the days he missed. The pediatrician continues to test him, and he is concerned that he may have internal bleeding. My doctor appt. is on June 18 making this a 2 month ordeal that may continue even longer. Please contact me for records. I am disgusted by the possibility that I may have been poisoning my child with Motrin.

My daughter has been sick since Dec. with colds, ear infections, etc. and we were at the doctor every 2-3 weeks for a different antibiotic. None of them were helping.

Now, I gave it to her on May 24th and the next day she had a seizure in daycare and another one 3 days after that. The 24th was the last time I had given her the Tylenol.

She had an EKG, diabetes test and is now going for an EEG this week. She hasn’t had any seizures since that week – the last time she had the Tylenold.

Coincidence? I’m starting to think NO, IT ISN’T.

I am furious beyond words. All of her Tylenol and Motrin are on the list…most of them are almost empty bottles.

I had problems from Motrin products during the last 2 years to include seizures, and other mental functioning disorders, nerve pain through limbs, fingers and toes, and other symptoms. It affected my speech, memory etc.

I have since switched to an alternate brand of Ibuprofen and am not having any of these same affects

Granddaughter has had medcial problems for awhile, but 4/29/10 worst, after taking Childns.Chry.Blast Tyln..had rash w/in 30-40 mins, back hurt & said “she couldn’t explain but felt really bad all over’.(I had prev.gotten recall mess.from Sams club 11/20/09..called McNeill & J&J>>told by a “Jamie..bottle I had ok to use..not on recall list.” I have bottle & box & documentation..another recall mess.Sams club 5/1 or 5/2/10..finally got McN. 5/5…a “Derrick..said not up to J&J standards, higher conc.of Motrin & small particles.”He could not (would not)tell me small particles were metal shavings. FDA did inspect. around 5/15 or so & found shavings getting into prods.from machinery used to make prods. 5/17..anonomous guy & McN J&J said “small partc.were metal shavings & get grandd.to dr.& have stom.xrayed (On 5/1 or 5/2 had extrm.stomach cramps, & back pain over right kidney. We took her to her Ped. 5/18..xrayed stom.& urine test..thank Lord both showed nothing abnorm…however she continues to have fatigue & appetite still not what it should be…J&J has yet to contact me w/full disclosure..they did however try to get me to send them my bottle..oh yes I have it & box & documentation..& they sent me a check for $7.00 for prod.which I have NOT CASH
ED & WON’T!Bottle I have, u can see tiny particles..I had noticed them before, but thought they were cyrstalized sugar…never dreamed metal shavings. I am outraged at these companies for lying, hiding, dodging…& all to ensure their bottom line! Well I’m gonna do my best to “Dog” them until they tell truth & let public no truth & risks for now & future health. I called McN&J&J from 5/5/- 5/17 at least, trying to find truth..they have known since late ’08 or early ’09 about this problem..Is anyone as mad as I am at them for lying & covering up. Only after FDA inspected plant in Ft. Wash.Pa did they even mention small particles & the list of prods. suspect & on recall is endless. It’s about the $ folks & ONLY until these companies have to spend enough in restitution, will they clean up their act & even then we’ll have to be on our toes to monitor them….BY THE WAY….IF EVERYBODY WOULD BOYCOTT BP FOR JUST A DAY OR TWO…THEY’D GET A LOT MORE SERIOUS..I DO NOT WANT ANY OF THESE COMPANIES TO GO UNDER…I WANT THEM TO RISE UP, BE HONEST, DO WHATS RIGHT & GET BACK THE INTEGRITY (IF THEY HAD ANY AT ALL) THAT MADE THIS COUNTRY WHAT IT WAS AT ONE TIME…MAY THE GOD OF HEAVEN HELP US ALL & MAY HIS MERCY EXTEND TO ALL OF US…FOR WE NEED HIS GRACE & MERCY NOW MORE THAN EVER..BECAUSE THE WORLD SHOULD ISN’T SHOWING MERCY AT ANY GREAT LEVEL..PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY…MY PRAYER IS ‘GOD SAVE AMERICA..IF IT ISN’T TOO LATE.

I also filed compalint w/ FDA early on ( after 5/5/10)…received a form letter advising me “they had received my complaint”..tried to file complaints w/ agents in Atlanta & Tn. but got no answer…have heard nothing else from FDA nor J&J..except J&J trying to get bottle I have & sending me $7.00 for prod (a check which I have not & will not cash. Familes should not be subjected to this type of stress & worry, when McNeil, J&J & FDA know the truth & have know truth for long time.Lot of this worry could have been avoided by upfront information & quick response to situation. They continue to pay Hide & Seek attempt to sweep facts under rug….but I intend to Seek & pull rug up & turn dirty thing over , upside down & out…& shake the evidence & truth completely out in open…anybody else want to help me, please contact me at above e mail address….we can make a difference..& maybe save hearthache & pain for others…..thank you Mamie Gilbert

were there any criminal or financial charges held against McNeil Consumers?

  • Jazelle October 1, 2010, 7:22 am

My child got some sort of viral infection, along with some other kids. She was the only child given tylenol and benadryl. Since this has happen, her eyes began to go inward. Contacted J&J, they are checking into the matter. She is seeing a doctor for this condition. My child is 2.5. She has never had issues with her eyes until this happen. The doctor stated he’s not sure if the infection or the medicine did this to her eyes. However the other kids are fine, who didn’t take the medicine with the same viral infection which makes me believe the medicine did this to my child’s eyes. Does anyone have any similar adverse effects?
