Living Social Customers File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against LivingSocial Over Alleged Expiration Dates.
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Living Social in the United States District Court in Seattle, Washington alleging, among other things, that LivingSocial violated the Washington Consumer Protection Act, which purportedly makes it unlawful to include expiration dates on pre-paid gift certificates, according to a LivingSocial class action lawsuit news report.

I purchased a LivingSocial getaway to the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver BC. I tried to redeem the gift certificate and their was space at the hotel but no “LivingSocial” space available. Living Social told me that their customer service department would contact the hotel and get back to me. They never did. I am unable to redeem my certificate because there is and possibly never was LivingSocial space at the hotel and the coupon will expire in April. LivingSocial then told me that they recommend that people call the hotels first and find out if they have LivingSocial space before booking through them. There site did not mention this.
there are a lot of consumer class actions that could be filed. This is a smidgeon of the amounbt of money out there.
It’s not only a problem of expiration dates! Also refunds are scams! I have been waiting a refund for 4 months! They said that the check got lost, then they said “we sent a second check. wait 15 days”. Days are gone, they said “there was a problem, we use your credit card”. Of course, there is no way to talk to a manager or even send a FAX!
Stay away from these people!
I purchased a living social deal on March 26, 2011 for $114.00 for a medical spa treatment called Midwest Anti-aging located at 8827 Roe Ave Prairie Village, KS 66207 Phone 913-649-4433 They were to contact me for an appt. I made several attempts to contact this company and then finally got a message that the company was out of business. I paid this money through living social and never received a refund or alternate treatment. Don’t know that I could be part of the current lawsuit but am hoping there is some hope for some type of consideration. Please contact me at 816-985-1667 if there are any other options or opportunities to get this resolved
As a Christmas present for my S.O. I purchased two 1 night stays at Salishan Resort near Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. The “Deal” was for a “Premier” room, which was supposedly their best, other than the suites. We checked in to find the room was smelly, the carpets appeared filthy and worn out, the furniture was broken down and worn out and stained, the windows actually had moss growing on them! Worst of all, the bed looked to be older than I am, and I literally was afraid to get near it, much less sleep in it. We asked for another room, only to find much the same. They then said they had nothing better. So we left. Christmas ruined.
I contacted livingsocial immediatly. First they said we were past the 30 day refund limit (by 6 hours!), then they said we failed to cancel our reservation 72+ hours in advance, per the hotel’s policy! We checked in, but could not stay because of the disgusting condition of the room. That is a matter of fraudulent representation, not a failure to cancel.
LivingSocial doens’t care. They got their money and they’re willing to lose me as a future customer.
Class action law suite?? I’m in!
I purchased 2 living social deals for Khoury’s in Long Beach which expired on the 23rd of May 2013. I called Living Social because Khoury’s could no longer accomodate my deal because they are fully booked on all Living Social coupons. Living Social told me they can’t penalize the merchant because I was only giving them a few days to honor my coupon (It wasn’t even expired yet). Living Social told me they can’t do anything for me and that I should just use the face value of the coupon. What a scam! If there’s a class action law suit out there against them, count me in!
