I too was ripped off from Office Max. I returned 11 ink jet cartridges to them and they told me I can redeem my money online. Then the web site said I did not qualify for the monies. I then went back to the store and complained about it and the store manager said that I would have to file with the web site. I then asked for my cartridges back and he refused. I want these types of business practices to STOP! Sign me up for the law suit –
Unfortunately, many stores do not bother to tell customers about the qualifications for ink recycling, which is NOT THE SAME THING as ink refilling, which is what this lawsuit pertains to. The recycling program works as such: For a MaxPerks member, we offer $2.00 per cartridge, with a maximum of 10 cartridges per month. The fine print is, that this must be offset by purchases. If you have spent no money at OMX this year, then you won’t get the recycling credits applied to your account. When you have spent the same amount (in this case, 20.00) in qualified purchases, the credits will automatically be processed, and you will be sent a gift certificate for the recycling credit of $20.00. It isn’t free money. You have to have spent money in store or online, using your MaxPerks rewards number, to get the credits and you don’t get cash or a check, you get a printable gift card that can only be used at Office Max.
Once you have actually spent money, the credits will automatically be disbursed to your account, which is why the manager couldn’t give the cartridges back.
