A securities fraud class action lawsuit has been filed against Northern Trust Corporation (“Northern Trust”) and others (collectively “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on behalf of a class consisting of all persons who purchased or otherwise acquired Northern Trust common stock (symbol: NTRS) between October 17, 2007 and October 20, 2009, inclusive (the “class period”), alleging that Northern Trust and the other defendants, violated federal securities fraud laws, including the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934, by issuing false and misleading statements regarding Northern Trust’s business and financial results and by failing to disclose the extent of Northern Trust’s delinquent commercial real estate loans and by failing to disclose the true nature and risks associated with Northern Trust’s securities lending program and that Northern Trust was purportedly investing collateral pools in high risk investments, according to class action lawsuit news reports.
