Microsoft Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate Licensees File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Microsoft Over Alleged Downgrade Rights To Windows XP Professional.
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Microsoft Corporation (“Microsoft” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Central District of California (styled Emma Alvarado v. Microsoft Corporation, Class Action Case No. CV 10-09951 SJO) alleging, among other things, that Microsoft engaged in unfair and lawful business practices by allegedly mandating that consumers first obtain a licence for the Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows 7 Business or Windows 7 Ultimate operating system on their personal computers in order to then purchase the Windows XP Professional operating system (i.e., downgrade rights), according to the Microsoft Windows downgrade rights class action lawsuit complaint.
The Microsoft Windows downgrade rights class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following putative class of persons, unless otherwise excluded:
All persons who are residents of the State of California, who at any time within the four year period of time preceding the filing of this Complaint purchased a personal computer that included a license for the use of the Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate operating system, who purchased the personal computer for their own use and not for resale, and who “downgraded” their operating system to the Windows XP Professional operating system (including the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and the Windows XP x64 Edition).
The Microsoft Windows downgrade rights class action lawsuit complaint reportedly asserts claims for declaratory relief, violation of the California Business & Professions Code 17200 and violation of the California Business & Professions Code 16750.

Hi,
How does one (from Spokane , WA.) become a part of the class action lawsuit against microsoft for Windows Vista complete failure?
I’d like to know the answer to Mr. Bembenek’s squestion of this year, March 28, 2011 and add mine. How is it that Microsoft has kept this a secret that a purchase of a new computer with Windows 7 on it is useless without paying for a Windows XP mode and multiple other fixes so that Windows 7 is usable?; and, can we please have a list of fixes if we had and loved Windows XP and they are phasing it out; and, the costs of the fixes and add that to the class action law suit?
I would like an answer to the above question as well. I have two computers that have Microsoft Windows 7 that have completely crashed. Microsoft will gladly help me if I pay them over $100. Both computers state that there is a recovery system on them. None of their suggested repair options work.
