Ford Motor & Navistar Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine

Owners & Lessees Of Ford Vehicles With Ford Power Stroke Diesel Engine File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Ford & Navistar Over Allegedly Defective Diesel Engines.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Ford Motor Company (“Ford Motor” or “Ford”) and Navistar, Inc. (“Navistar”) f/k/a International Truck and Engine Corporation (collectively “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California (styled Brandon Burns v. Navistar, Inc. and Ford Motor Company, Civil Action Case No. 3:10-cv-02295-LAB -BGS) alleging, among other things, that Defendants manufactured, marketed and/or sold Ford’s Super Duty trucks and Ford Excursion vehicles for model years 2003-2007 that contained Ford & Navistar manufactured 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engines that allegedly suffer from manufacturing and design defects that render the engines and vehicles unmerchantable and unsuitable, according to the Ford & Navistar 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine class action lawsuit complaint.

The Ford & Navistar 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of a putative class of all owners and lessees within California of Ford vehicles equipped with Navistar’s 6.0 L diesel engine, commonly referred to as the Power Stroke V8 Turbo diesel engine, unless otherwise excluded.

I have a 2005 F350 Diesel, with 58K miles never hauled and my problems have just started. I have an appointment with Bulletproof tomorrow in which it has to be towed. I went through 3 alternators in less in a year. I am leaking water from the head gasket. It smokes and I can’t even drive the vehicle. The vehicle will not get over 1500 rpms without spitting. There was no lights or indication there was any problems. It cranks and a cloud of black smoke escapes from tail pike. I am fortunate I have not spent the money other people have. The reality of it is I really haven’t drove it. I would like to be part of your class action lawsuit. I work for UPS and they bought the 6.0L for their package trucks and have the same problems and they were given an additional year warranty on them due to the issues especially fuel injectors. UPS is a large company and they wanted to keep them happy. However, we are not and need to stand to together and be heard as one too. Gregory @ fatcatgray@hotmail.com

2006 F-250 6.0 PoS (Power Stroke) 70k miles, in shop every 10k or less. High pressure oil seals in heads fail, are poorly designed and will be an ongoing repair issue at $350.00 a pop. Twice so far with third on the way, very hard starts or fail to start issues, great for someone in emergency services. Fuel modulator and vacuum pump failed. At home, 3000ft elevation 10.3 mpg, in the valley 16-17. Barometric pressure sensor? Mileage sucks. Matches engine longevity, undependable when needed most or out in the wild far from help, sweet :o( Count me in class.

same problems here with E450. Want to join the suit, please. I am in Maryland.

I have an 04 F250 Lariat, with blown head gaskets, etc. Looking at $6K in repairs. The first time i tried to tow something bigger than a popup camper, this happens. I still owe $10k on it, and it won’t run. Still making payments and insurance, as it sits. Count me in on the class action.

I have a 2006 Ford 350 pickup, with only 75,00 miles, that starting losing some power & then the check engine light starts coming on constantly. I took it to the Ford dealership & they advised me that diagnostic tests show P0299 code is the problem…that is the EGR system test, it failed….Cost is to be about $2500.00.I called 2 other dealerships & they also advised me the same info..They all 3 say Ford is aware of the problem & should have been done as a recall…What is wrong with these people…This truck had $1300.00 worth of work last year for code P0611 (FICM), Ford also knows this should be recalled…Is it too late to be in the Class action Lawsuit…We are very upset about this as well…

    • Ford Tech November 30, 2011, 8:42 am

A P0299 is a turbo underboost code. Clean the vanes of the vgt on turbo and that should take care of your power loss issue. $2500.00 lol, I’ll do it for 500 all day long. Hollar at ya boy. As far as the FICM goes, bad batteries are the biggest killer of those.

  • Jerry & Debbie Moreau October 17, 2011, 10:40 pm

We also have a 2003 Ford F250 with the same problems…we bought this truck because they told us it would pull a camper very easily…but the last couple of times we’ve went anywhere it has smoked like a sailor…they said its the EGR VALVE and possibly Injectors….the truck doesn’t have hardly any miles…the milage on the oil changes are never met because we never drive the truck…only for a couple short trips a yr. and when I say short I mean maybe an hour away from home. Please if there is a class action lawsuit against Ford Please, Please, Please include us in on it…all we want is this truck fixed…

    • Kurt Weagant January 31, 2012, 8:47 pm

Have exactly the same problem on my 04′. The shop I took it to here said they are getting in one to two a week all with the same problems.

  • Jerry & Debbie Moreau October 17, 2011, 10:53 pm

Please include us if there is a classaction lawsuit against Ford…we have a 2003 Ford F250 that we bought just to pull a camper. When we bought it we were told that it would pull the camper easily…the truck has hardly any miles on it..the milage on the oil changes are never met because it never gets used..our last trip which was only an hour away from home, the truck smoked like a sailor..now they are saying its probably the EGR VALVE and possibly the injectors. Something needs to be done…I see so many people with the same complaint as us…we spent too much money on this truck and of course now the warranty has expired. PLEASE INCLUDE US IF THERE IS A SUIT AGAINST FORD….

  • Keith Cameron October 21, 2011, 11:37 am

2004 F350 6.0 I am on my fourth egr cooler truck has 77000 miles and is in the dealership AGAIN with more problems this time bail money is $1800.00 . I feel that I am being held capative to this truck. I use it to tow a boat in the summer and a trailer with a ranger offroad truck in the winter. I worry every time I tow. I was told by the dealer i bought it from will do all I need it to do and more, neither did I go cheap, four wheel drive and crew cab blah blah blah. Please include me in law suit.

    • Janet M McLaughlin December 5, 2011, 7:31 am

take the egr cooler off and the egr value, i had it done for about $ 700.00 dollars

    • Charles June 19, 2013, 8:56 pm

      Keith –

I have a 2005. Same issue. Did you receive any remedy from Ford, or from any third party? Very unhappy with my repairs and just want things set right.

      Thanks,
      Charlie.

  • Jacob Henderson October 23, 2011, 6:46 pm

I would like to be included in this law suit. I live in maryland. I have all the major problems a 6.0 has and would like to see ford fix there problems they know they have.

  • jim estess October 24, 2011, 11:18 pm

I have a 2008 F-350 with 6.4 L Diesel and I have had nothing but problems. The first engine blew at 75,000 miles then at 103,000 the Fuel Pump went out ($2,568.21 to fix) and then an Injector at 104,000 miles ($1,345.00 to fix that problem) I now have 104,575 miles on it and I am parking it until I can dump it at Wholesale since I cannot get any offer over $19,000 …. and only that much if I agree to trade for another piece of crap Ford… and that ain’t gonna happen in this life.

My BEST EVER fuel milage was 14.0 and that was driving Empty with
Cruise Control and on the Interstate with a tail wind.

Does anyone know if there is a Class Action regarding my Truck? If so where do I sign up!!

    • Ray Wilgenbusch December 18, 2011, 9:01 pm

We have had nothing but troubles with these 6.0 and 6.4 liter engines in a large fleet . Between Ford dealers blaming water in fuel and tow truck bills. The cost per kilo would break the average guy. Finally the ford guy blames us for not draining the water seperator monthly and not changing the oil regular enought??

  • RICHARD October 25, 2011, 9:13 am

I ALSO WANT IN ON THIS LAWSUIT. I HAVE A 2004 F350 4X4 AND HAVE NO MORE MONEY TO KEEP IT RUNNING. BAD INJECTORS.BAD TURBO,BAD TURBO COOLER,NO POWER PULLING MY 25FT TRAILER…..TOP SPEED PULLING MY TRAILER UPHILL WAS 25 MPH.THIS THING IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF CRAP EVER BUILT. ALL REPAIR WORK HAS BEEN DONE AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP,BUT THAT DOESNT HELP MY CAUSE…….IT TAKES MONEY TO EVEN DRIVE THIS TRUCK!!!!

  • Susan Tank October 27, 2011, 8:17 am

I bought a used ’05 F350 with the 6.0 about a year and a half ago. If I would’ve known at the time that this engine was going to cost me so much money and so much aggravation, I never would’ve bought it. I love the looks of “The Beast”, but have quickly learned to hate the engine after having been with my diesel mechanic more than with me. The first problem was the EGR valve, then it went on to many other issues (FICM, sensors, etc.) and although I had all the parts replaced, the initial problem is still here- it dies while I’m driving it, so far, at speeds less than 40mph. It died on me once a few seconds after I had put it in Park. It dying while driving it nearly caused a couple accidents. The truck also lacks power, especially going up an incline, even a slight incline, and races downhill. Very scary. Just today I picked my truck up from the mechanic’s AGAIN after he had cleared out the history on the computer, hoping it would help fix the problems that won’t show up on his testers.
I bought this truck for business purposes but I fear driving it. I’ve always owned Ford trucks (and currently have two others that are gas engines) and love them, but I absolutely refuse to buy another truck with the 6.0 in it! I can’t afford the repairs and I value my life….
Ford, step up to the plate and stand by your products BEFORE someone gets seriously injured or killed!

  • martin thurein October 27, 2011, 1:53 pm

Martin Thurein oct 27 11:30 I have a 2005 F-350 and would like to also get in on a class action lawsuit if possible. My truck at 78,000 had complete turbo failure. After taking to the technicon who worked on my truck I was shocked to find out that he was doing four other turbos at that time. He then went on to tell me that the 6.0 v-8 power stroke is nothing but trouble and money, and my turbo will fail again. I have writen three letters to Ford and they say they can do nothing for me. Please let me know if there is a class action suit I may join.

  • Duane Duncan October 28, 2011, 10:08 am

What a shame that this corporation is aloud to continue conducting business as usual without any compensation to its prior customers. I also own a 2004 f 350 – 6.0 power stroke diesel, and have had nothing but trouble with it. I have spend endless money and exhausted almost all my resources on this pickup. Thank you for posting this and YES I would like to join this class action suit.

in washington state, do i need to contact a lawyer in my own state? have learned alot recently about these motors. do not repair without an egr upgraded cooler ford does not make one.also aftermarket head stud kit is a must according to two diesel mechanics i spoke with and why they have it apart make sure they replace the oil drain tube .supposedly ford has upgraded the turbocharger and oil coolers that would be replaced. i also was told regarding the fuel system to add a fuel regulator kit will help prevent injector issues hope this helps others who are getting the shaft from ford

Timothy Lemay, From pesonal experience as about everything listed has happened to my truck and some twice. Your problem sounds like the branch tube is leaking and will run between 4-5K will likely new enjectors as well because I’m amost sure they are being flooded with oil, mine were.

  • TIMOTHY LEMAY October 30, 2011, 12:53 pm

  • Aldridge November 1, 2011, 8:22 pm

Just informed today it will cost over 8k to fix our 2005 F350 6.0L King Ranch because of the EGR and head gasket problem. We have around 75k miles on it. When we bought it in 2004 we planned on keeping it for 10 years or more. That’s why we shelled out so much money, but now it appears it was a waste of money. How do we become a part of the lawsuit? We are in Washington state

  • Allison November 2, 2011, 11:35 am

How do I get involved? I want to trade my 2007 SD F350 DRW and the ford dealer told me no one wanted that truck! They were sure proud of the 6.0 when they sold it to me 5 years ago. This is my 3rd Ford truck, but I don’t know how loyal I am going to stay to Ford.

  • Randy Roberts November 2, 2011, 6:46 pm

  • Tania doseck November 2, 2011, 9:59 pm

2007, f-250 Lariat Outlaw 6.0 L engine with 74K miles. Died in June 2011 towed to dealer returned in the morning I was informed IPR valve replaced, dealer makes no other recommendations. October, same scenario while traveling 70 mph dies no check engine or unusual sounds. Re-starts spouse drives home. Towed next day injectors are bad and looks like new engine since metal found in engine. It’s within the warranty but they won’t honor because we don’t have fuel filter receipts beyond 33K miles. Estimate 17,965!! Best part when I told them I want to pick iy up tomorrow they are going to charge 2.5 hrs if I want it back together. HELP PLEASE

  • Kim November 3, 2011, 12:53 am

Any information about this lawsuit would be greatly appreciated…as of right now our truck is sitting at the Ford dealer and they have just told us that they can’t do anything to help us…The engine has been replaced once while under warranty and last year we paid $7,000 to repair it and now then engine has blown again! It is a Ford F350 2005. Please help.

  • Gary C. Binder November 3, 2011, 9:58 am

In May of 2005, I purchased a used 2003 Ford F350 6.0 L diesel. I was assured by the salesperson that with 50K miles, it was just getting broke in. The same day I drove it off the lot, the turbo went out and was fixed soon. I also found later the credit manager sold me an extended warranty that matched the manufacturer’s warranty, so I was ripped off. They obviously didn’t want to eat their problems coming up. In 2007, I was driving along and all of a sudden the truck started smoking profusely. I took it to the dealer and one head was warped with bad injectors. After a week in the shop, I got it back and the mechanic said, “Keep an eye on it and if it starts smoking again soon, bring it back”! What a vote of confidence, huh? Another year passed and problems again at 90,000 miles, only this time it smoked so bad coming home, a police officer pulled me over and made me park the truck. The motor now was seized up and I left it at the dealer since they claimed ther was no warranty! Now Ford Credit is trying to collect $16,000 from me for the balance of the loan versus what they sold the truck. I also have a 1996 Ford F150 that I use with 170,000 miles on it and very few problems. If Ford Credit persists, I will do everything in my power to destroy Ford truck and auto sales in Denver, CO.

  • BeckyDeSchepper November 6, 2011, 7:10 pm

    Auggie & Becky nov.6 th 2011
F250 2005 super duty (yeh right) replaced EGR twice -Head gasket- all injectors -branch tube- rings on oilpump and tubes-2 alternators – 20.000.00 in repairs and now some kind of exhaust leak-the truck set in the drive way for over a year- one start a day leave it running tell you get where your going and staying tell next day it won’t start again. If there is a class action suit we would love to have some of our money back from excessive repairs. Now the economy is so bad that I can’t even trade it off because we can’t afford another new truck of this size for our farm.

  • Chris November 7, 2011, 3:23 pm

I brought a 2005 ford f250 with the 6.0 In 2007. I’ve had problems with it a week after I brought I took it to the dealership where I brought it and they told me that it was nothing wrong with the vehicle. I have taken it back to the dealership and they keep tell me nothing is wrong with but they said they changed the erg cooler 4 different times. Around may of this year my motor locked up and will not run. I’m now getting worked and it’s.probably going to cost somewhere around 5,000 at the least. Is it to late to join the lawsuit

  • Donny November 7, 2011, 9:10 pm

I have owned a 2004 250 6.0 it was a lemon and Ford bought it back from me. Now I have a 2005 f250 6.0 with 60,000 miles on it and a lot of trouble.

  • Greg Allen November 8, 2011, 9:15 am

I had 2 injectors go bad on my 2003 Ford F250 with the now famous 6.0 Liter Powerstroke. I immediately took to shop to have injectors repaired and found out the #8 cylinder had already gone bad. Should have 400lbs of pressure and now only showing 50 on the diagnostic. On top of that everyone wants a minimum of $4000 to do the repair work. I just went back to work 6 months ago after being laid off for over a yr and all my saving, retirement etc gone. Paying for veh I can drive. HELP!

  • ginger stevenson November 11, 2011, 7:09 pm

have a 2004 f250 at about 82000 miles had to put a new tansmission in and always replacing egr valve ,cooler fuel injectors 4 so far turbo twice ,turbo spline and a lot of other stuff was cutting off on the highway they didnt know why so we bought the extended warranty what a joke the wires burnt in the steering column wasnt the realled ones they said and two months ago my fuel injection control mod went nope warranty didnt cover that 900 dollar job either then they told me my extended warranty was no good because we change the oil ourselves so i bought the truck and with all the repaires i could have bought two

I have a 250 Ford 4×4 6.0 L with only 110,200 miles, with mult. problems my turbo was blowing white smoke and lost all power because my turbo , injectors 2,3,5, and fuel pump all went OUT!
I just spent 4,000 to fix everything and also got a Bullet proof kit to
put on it to stop all my problems im hoping it will. I have only heard bad things about the 6.0 L diesels from mechanics.

  • vanda harrelson November 14, 2011, 11:02 am

I have a 2003 f/250 6.0 & for these past 6 months i have had it a dealership for repairs now totalling about $10,000.00. I just took it in this past Friday for repairs & this morning (monday) it just “SHUT-DOWN” when taken my daughter to school. Another flatbed tow , another day at the dealership for repairs.THIS is obveious that FORD knows what the problem is because 9 years of complaints from everyone?,..certainly those “certified mechanics” would know something?!!…OR..is FORD taking another form of a continuous “BAIL-OUT-?REPAIR…with the continous “cha-ching” for the dealerships?

  • jeff November 15, 2011, 6:57 am

i knew a ford mecanic at navistar he told me that there just made like that and knew that it would fail they didnt wanna change the design. it was so people would have work. the egr cooler is located under the turbo which is alot of work to remove. the egr cooler goes bad because of the oil cooler. and the dealer only does the erg not the oil cooler causing the same problem again. egr failure also can blow your heads and if you haven ford dealers will still tell you they are.

  • Rich November 17, 2011, 6:02 pm

2003 F250 Superduty is now in the shop. When I let off the throttle, it would start hesitating big time, then you had to put the throttle to the floor and cause big time black smoke coming out of the exhaust. It would run fine for a while then act up again. But if you came to a stop sign and didn’t let off the throttle completely it wouldn’t do it. Less then a year ago, it was a $1300 repair for fuel injection module. Now they ”think” it’s the egr valve. Have to call them in the morning.

    • Devon Brown November 19, 2011, 6:33 pm

2003 f250 6.0 79,000 miles. just replaced turbo for the second time. now have injector fault codes. replaced egr cooler and egr valve 1500 miles ago. i am a mechanic and have been doing my own repairs and in the last six months have spent over $4800. looking at another $1400 for the injectors. i understand maintenance and repairs but this is way beyond that.

  • Julius November 18, 2011, 1:58 am

Truck is in the shop again, for major repairs. Whats next???????? I have a 2004 F-350 4*4 that I have put a lot of money into, but the repairs are killing my business. I used to depend on this truck, but now the repair shop depends on me to keep them in business ( if you know what I mean). I mean really, people buy diesels usually for power and for years on the road, but the 6.0l wont get you there. My truck has been in the shop three times this year, first for the egr’s, then the heads and now for the lifters. What’s next??? By the way, once my truck is repaired this time around, I will have spent about $14, 000 in repair. U do the math.

I also have a problem with my 2007, 6.0L Super Duty. Is there a class action that covers Colorado?

  • David November 18, 2011, 7:32 pm

2005 F350, EGR, oil cooler, FICM, and now high pressure oil pump!
Over $3,000 in shop bills alone, not counting towing, lost time and sincere frustration. Send me the suit info for Oklahoma.

    8000 dollars

  • Rick L. November 21, 2011, 2:45 pm

Same issues as everyone else- 2003 F350 losing coolant because of a leaky head gasket. Low end power. Numerous electrical problems and injector issues. 83K but it still runs, at times.

    • Rick L. November 21, 2011, 2:49 pm

Also located in Washington state and yes, I’ve owned this vehicle since new.

After this experience and the attitude of Ford, I’ll never buy another product from them. This after owning a Ford Explorer purchased new in 1991 with 415,000 miles on it (drove it to work this morning!).

  • Clint Moon November 22, 2011, 9:35 am

F-250 6.0L Power stroke that has 140,000 miles and we just spent $2500.00 replacing the high pressure oil pump and EGR. We were told that if the oil pump didn’t put out at least 500 PSI of oil pressure that the engine wouldn’t fire the injectors. We just want to get rid of it and can’t please include us in the fight.

  • Robert Swartwood November 24, 2011, 10:49 am

  • Danny Maravilla November 24, 2011, 9:28 pm

I have an 06 powerstroke with a blown headgasket with only 140,000 miles they (ford dealer) told me it would go 300,000 miles no problem, yea right. I also have a 95 f-250 with a 5.8 with 290,000 never touched the engine other than to change the oil. This o6 is a HEADACHE and a waste of time and lots of money. YES I WANT TO SUE. SHOULD’VE I HAVE KNOWN I WOULD OF BOUGHT A DURAMMAX ORA CUMMINS.

  • Rick McLachlin November 27, 2011, 12:57 pm

I bought my 2004 Ford F350SD in January of 2004. It is almost 8 years old and has under 53k miles on it. It spent more of it’s first 15k miles at the dealership than in my driveway…..a laundry list of trouble. I just got it back last night after having the EGR cooler replaced. I wouldn’t have this truck if I could afford another one. We pull a 39′ fifth wheel with it. I am reading more and more about the EGR system and now I am concerned that my oil cooler might be clogged or insufficiently passing coolant to the EGR cooler resulting in me needing to replace it all over again. I am very upset! Spend 50k or more on “Built Ford Tough”, barely drive it and take great care of it and this is what we get? **PLEASE INCLUDE ME IN ANY ACTION**

  • Joseph Arnaud November 27, 2011, 9:16 pm

Same problems as everyone else. Gave dealership 7500 dollars and still not fixed

  • 6.0 DIESEL LOVER November 28, 2011, 3:27 pm

MY 04 HAS NEARLY 200K ON IT, NEVER HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM. TECH AT LOCAL DEALER EXPLAINED PROPER MAINTENENCE PROCEEDURES TO ME, AND I’VE MAINTAINED IT PERFECTLY. NO ROTELLA OIL, NO WIX FILTERS, ALL MOTORCRAFT PARTS, ALL GOOD BP AND PHILLIPS GAS. TREAT YOUR TRUCK RIGHT AND IT’LL TREAT YOU RIGHT. EVERYBODY I HEAR COMPLAIN ABOUT IT DOESN’T DO THE MAINTENENCE AS THEY SHOULD, AND THEN WONDER WHY THEIR TRUCK HAS ISSUES AND MINE NEVER HAS.
IT’LL TREAT YOU LIKE YOU TREAT IT. FUNNY THAT PEOPLE WANT TO BLAME FORD FOR A NAVISTAR ENGINE THAT THEY FAILED TO TAKE PROPER CARE OF.

    • fred vogel December 3, 2011, 7:59 pm

and where are you going to find that in Maine BP Deseil?

      • Chris S December 6, 2011, 4:01 pm

You must be employed by Ford or something???I maintain my trucks very well – had the 7.3 before the 6.0 and it still ran like new with 350k miles on it. My 6.0 however is literally junk – it is a nightmare to keep up with. Just about any honest Ford mechanic will tell you the same thing. Ford should be utterly ashamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Biggest peice of shit I’ve ever seen

  • Jesse Perez November 29, 2011, 2:44 pm

I have an 04 F250 SD 4WD crew cab, with blown head gaskets, bad turbo and more at 129,000 miles. Just paid $5,200K in repairs. I’m learning this is a very common problem with this model. Please count me in on the class action.

  • D. Tarbet November 29, 2011, 8:27 pm

I bought my 2004 Ford 6.0 Liter Diesel F350 Crew Cab 4×4, brand new off the lot. At about 30k miles, the EGR valve went out – covered under warranty. At about 70k miles, the EGR intercooler went out along with the valve and cost me about $1950 to repair, stranding my wife in Utah while the problem was repaired by a Ford dealership. After contact that dealership to inquire about what intercooler was reinstalled in the motor for repair, the response was “we only use the OEM parts specified by Ford so it was the same intercooler”. How stupid is that when Ford knows damned well the problem exists? How about beefing up the intercooler like so many aftermarket companies have and sell it for $300-400 dollars? The OEM part was about that much or more.
Now I fear the head studs are going to give out, the FICM, the oil cooler, and anything else. Would love to be included in a class action lawsuit because I cannot unload this thing to private parties or to dealers unless the price is $5000 less than book value! The word is out “the 6.0 Liter Powerstroke Diesel is a piece of junk”!

I have a 2004 F350 King Ranch 6.0 and with in a year of owning the truck the EGR Value, oil cooler, turbo, and exhaust back sensor went bad. I’ve already put thousands of dollars in it and it is still not fixed. Looks good in my driveway since I can never drive it. Please add me to the lawsuit and give any suggestions of help, if possible, for these mechanical problems.

  • Lori December 6, 2011, 10:35 am

How do I join this lawsuit? We have a 2006 Ford F250 which has cost us a lot of money in repairs?

  • Chris S December 6, 2011, 3:53 pm

WOW- I’m am just about bankrupt trying to keep up with the on-going nightmare of maintenance on my 06′ F-350 6.0 (King Ranch) This engine has been an absolute failure – I have had constant issues that are re-occuring with this truck and it seems like each time it’s anywhere from $1000 – $3500 to repair. How can Ford not hold some liablility here???? The worst part, everyone knows the 6.o’s are now crap and even dealers don’t want them on their lots (at least the reputible ones) In the last 2 years of owning this truck I have spent more money maintaining it than in the last 20 years of owning vehicles. Matters are compounded when I have a trailer full of cattle and it fails!!!! Terrible Truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jason Head December 7, 2011, 1:08 pm

  • J Lindblom December 8, 2011, 4:47 pm

I have 5 Fords, three of them have huge problems. I have more than 50 days in the shop and have had to do more than 30,000 in repairs. That does not even mention the loss in profits for my vehicles breaking down and losing time of work. Its a shame Ford won’t step up. I started a site to group people together. http://www.truckengineproblems.com

  • Mike Shepley December 9, 2011, 6:52 am

I own this 2006 Ford LCF and it has been nothing but problems. We have replaced the egr valve twice in two years. The fuel tank was painted on the inside except for the top of the tank and all the paint and rust in the inside clogged all the injectors which cost thousands of dollars and months in the ford garage. Everytime parts are needed for this truck it’s always a delay. The dealerships tell you when you buy the truck that they know it’s a work truck and they will have it back in a day……..that’s a bunch of crap because you never get the truck back for days because no one stocks the parts or the parts are on back order with no promise date. How fustrating is that?!!!!! Every winter this truck is a nightmare no matter what prevention is made to get it to start, it takes forever some mornings!!! Ford definitely has a problem on their hands with this one……One more thing now the Dealerships will not work on these trucks…….so, what’s this saying for this Ford Product.

  • Aaron P December 11, 2011, 4:11 pm

My 04 f350 is now yard art until I can come up with the money to replace the dealer diagnosed faulty injectors and egr cooler.

  • Do your homework December 12, 2011, 10:33 am

228,000 on my 2004 F250 still going strong.. unplugged egr valve, deleted egr cooler, changed ford coolant… google the searches on how to fix this engine!!!!!

  • Jim Kimball December 13, 2011, 7:45 am

05 f350 6.0L nothing but problems. Count me in the class action suit.

  • Bill W. December 13, 2011, 10:08 am

2004 F350 6.0L – lots of issues. Wish suit was national not just CA. Several Intermittent problems, sometimes dealer could not diagnose, left me stranded several times, once with 34′ camper in tow. Bought new in 2004. So far from what I can remember off top of head, 3 EGR’s, 1 new turbo, 1 back pressure sensor, new accelerator pedal assembly, several firmware updates, new (redesigned) Charged coupler hose, replace FCIM,replace Crankshaft position sensor, replace EGR cooler, replace Oil cooler, replace head gaskets, Injector O rings, turbo rebuild, 4WD vacuum leak. Just wondering what’s next.

  • Colette Willis December 13, 2011, 12:38 pm

I’ve got one for you. I own two of these trucks. 2005 F350 Superduty and 2007 F350 Superduty duallies. Can’t even get rid of them. No one will take them on trade. They say “6.0’s – sell them for scrap we don’t want them”. Over $80,000. new and can’t even give them away. Neither will start now – both have every symptom ever mentioned that is associated with this engine. Another funny – the 2007 was a Ford issued replacement on a 2005 lemon 🙂 So…two sit in my yard as yard ornaments. I would like to be included in the class action suit too!!

  • Carolyn Oler December 13, 2011, 1:42 pm

We have a 2003 F350 power stroke…have replaced all fuel injector, EGR, turbo charger…and some other parts..It is my husbands truck..has cost us approx. $3000 since my husband did the work himself. How can we get involved in the class action suit. Please email me how to get aboard

  • Norm Wiebe December 13, 2011, 1:54 pm

I have had two turbos replaced, original at appx. 30 and another at67k-miles. Loss of power and reprogramming at under 4k miles and the over the last couple of years, AC, keyless entry, cruise control and the FICM is bad causing a lot of smoke no power and coking of the turbo when temps drop below 60 degrees. I have called Ford to complain about having to replace the second turbo and was told they could not help me because it was over one year since the last replacement and I was over the warrenty period on my truck. I also have checed into what I can do to repair the seemingly endless problems with this truck. I was told that I could make this engine more likely to live for around $6,000.00. New head gaskets, head bolts, EGR and EGR cooler replacement, Cooling system modifications, Air intake and exhaust upgrades and like items. I know I have not had as much trouble as some folks but I also know that even though I have taken care of my truck and it has lo miles, 72k for a 2004. I can’t keep it, major breakdowns are just a matter of time and I cannot afford to trade it or sell it because there are so many of these for sale out there and they have developed such a bad reputation that its value is greatly diminished. Is there a nationwide class action lawsuit or is only State by State?

  • Skee Stanley December 14, 2011, 12:13 pm

    2003 F-250 6.oL 84,0000 miles
“Customer states check engine light is on and surges at times. (Does not surge with cruise) Checked and found failed injectors (possible cause failed EGR Cooler). Found
EGR cooler leaking removed replaced EGR cooler and oil cooler. Replaced all eight injectors. Removed and cleaned up intake manifold and replaced carboned up EGR Valve. Flushed Cooling system.

    Total cost $ 5,358.22

Please include me in the Lawsuit.

    2007F-250 99,878m miles

Took to dealer for whistle noise and no cabin heat. Dealer changed CAC boot on Turbo Charger and said Heater Core is possibly clogged. Dealer did not drive Vehicle. Picked up a day later, drove home and same conditions exsisted but this time spewing coolant from overflow tank. Took back to dealer two days later to find out I have blown headgaskets and warranty is out of date by two days. Service dept said, Ford will cover 800$ of the repairs and Im responsible for the rest. I argued that I took vehicle in for possible Headgasket issue and all you (dealer) did was replace a boot. Called Ford and Ford will not cover anymore than 800$ and the rest is my problem.

Now, in my opinion if you say Im liable for 800$ shouldnt you be liable for the rest? THANKS FORD. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER!

    2005 F350.

EGR, Oil cooler, etc. i cant even pull a 200lb drift boat without feeiling like i will blow up the truck. I have sunk over $4k in fixing the problems in the past 3 years and not once was the EGR or Oil cooler addressed. i was quoted $2600 to fix that problem now and i am now pissed. how do i get this fixed.

own a 2004 ford f350 6.0….junk! bought this truck used and so far have done an EGR delete after 2 egr falures, all 8 injectors replaced, turbo cleaned and now going out, short in fuse box which shorted out the whole truck. I would like to enter class action aswell. please inform me how. As a disabled veteran on a limited income I can’t afford to throw money away on this truck.

  • Robert Luttfring December 20, 2011, 5:26 pm

I purchased a 2005 Ford F350 diesel with 16,000 miles on it in Dec. of 2006 and only had it for a month and the turbo went out. This was taken care of under warranty. In June of 2009 had 4 injectors replaced in Oklahoma. In March of 2011 I had 2 more injectors replaced. In August of 2011 had IPR valve replaced. Last week had two more injectors go out and now my mechanic said that #1 cylinder has no oil pressure and he is suggesting a used motor at a cost of $5000 plus installation. Going to fix this piece of crap and get a chevy. Thanks!

    Bob Luttfring

  • Jason Beaulieu December 21, 2011, 9:33 am

This is the second time within 3k miles the a valve in the high pressure oil pump has gone out on me. It seems that every time I try to go somewhere, or need to, I cant get it started. The dealership said that they would take care of it but I can’t just keep shelling out money to fix Ford’s m

  • Neil Louwrens December 22, 2011, 1:30 am

Took the Excursion 6.0 into Ford and told I needed the Turbo replaced and the EGR valve ($2500) . They wanted to replace the EGR oil reservoir too but said that could probably wait. I just replaced ALL 8 injectors 9 months ago too at $3800.
No one ever told me of problems with this line of vehicle, and I did not find any information on my research beforehand, just a whole bunch of probably industry paid praises!!! So how do I join the suit? Take em down! If for nothing else for not recalling the vehicles and installing a PERMANENT fix!!

  • Bryan Poradzisz December 22, 2011, 8:51 am

I own a 2007 Ford F450 6.0L super duty turbo diesel. Its is currently in the shop for major problems. At 52,000 miles the EGR cooler was defective and the coolant mixed with my engine oil. At this point it is unknown if the head gaskets are leaking, but was told the # 8 cylinder was not firing, faulty fuel injector. This is the second trip to the repair shop. The first was at 32,000 miles for the #5 and #7 faulty fuel injectors. Those were covered by the warrantly. My warranty has expired as of Aug. 14, 2011, go figure!!! Ford told me the current cost to repair what they diagnosed ( not including the fuel injector) totalled at this point $3800. After the engine is put back together they will determine if the head gaskets are leaking, which could mean more money!! Also, since the engine oil was sucked in through the coolant system how do they know how much damage had been done to the crack shaft, pistons, or other components requiring lubrication. I contacted Ford Consumer Relations and filed a complaint. The next day a representative told me the best Ford can and will do would knock 15% off my repair bill of $3800, which they told me would be only $450.00, whooopeeeeee!!!! I wished I would have researched this type of vehicle, but relied on my past experience with owning Ford’s and had been a loyal Ford owner for years! If Ford does not own up to this issue my attitude with change about Ford’s reliability and my next purchases. This issue is costing my small business thousands!!! I found out Ford sued Navistar for their 6.0L power stroke diesel engine and claimed it was defective. However, Ford continued to sell this engine to the consumer.

I contacted Ford Relations and spoke with Linda (manager). She took the time out to listen to my complaint; however, it went in one ear and out of her other. She was the person who originally told me Ford with discount my repair costs, but it wasn’t Ford Corporate doing that. She told me Joe Rizza Ford offered the discount. She would not budge! She gave me the hoopla about their are no programs out their to help me with since my warranty had expired. I requested to speak with somone above her and she told me their was no one I could speak with other than her. The problem with big business, like Ford, is that they feel they can walk over people and redirect the blame!! I definitely want in on one of the class action lawsuits if possible!! Please, HELP!

  • Kenneth Denny December 22, 2011, 9:52 am

I own a 2003 F350 4X4 King Ranch. This truck has NEVER had anywhere near the power my 1996 7.3 diesel did. Continually had it in the shop for tests only to be told there is nothing wrong with it. In cold weather it wouldn’t even pull itself out of the driveway!! Unbelievable. It finally conked out and I’m being told that the internal oil pump is not producing the pressure needed at the injectors to all it to crank. Also something about a plastic piece or gear that probably failed in the oil pump. Estimated cost to repair, $3800.00. I’ll never buy a ford again……and would like to join the class action suit in Texas if there is one….
