Ford Motor & Navistar Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine

Owners & Lessees Of Ford Vehicles With Ford Power Stroke Diesel Engine File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Ford & Navistar Over Allegedly Defective Diesel Engines.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Ford Motor Company (“Ford Motor” or “Ford”) and Navistar, Inc. (“Navistar”) f/k/a International Truck and Engine Corporation (collectively “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California (styled Brandon Burns v. Navistar, Inc. and Ford Motor Company, Civil Action Case No. 3:10-cv-02295-LAB -BGS) alleging, among other things, that Defendants manufactured, marketed and/or sold Ford’s Super Duty trucks and Ford Excursion vehicles for model years 2003-2007 that contained Ford & Navistar manufactured 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engines that allegedly suffer from manufacturing and design defects that render the engines and vehicles unmerchantable and unsuitable, according to the Ford & Navistar 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine class action lawsuit complaint.

The Ford & Navistar 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of a putative class of all owners and lessees within California of Ford vehicles equipped with Navistar’s 6.0 L diesel engine, commonly referred to as the Power Stroke V8 Turbo diesel engine, unless otherwise excluded.

We bought a 2006 F350 based on “built Ford tuff”, we’ve put over $10K into this truck and it still cannot pull our 5th wheel. I’m putting up a website and in pursuit of justice, I want all the money back we paid for the Ford and all the money we have had to put into it to make it still undrivable. If you are interested in adding your comments, give me your email address and as soon as the site is up, you can share your experience. My email address is wzfulton@sbcglobal.net Best of luck to you

I own a 2004 F-250 6.0 diesel and i too am having injector problems, within a 4 month period i have spent 2000.00 and i have to spend an additional 2000.00 while my work truck has sat for the past month and a half. I called Ford service and was told there is nothing they can do. Azusa,Ca. F#&k Ford

I have a 2003 F350 with a 6.0. it has been nothing but a money pit! Not at all what a diesel is supposed to be. It is high maintenance, expensive parts and labor, and crappy fuel milage especially for a diesel. I would also like more info on any class action suites. gharvey@murfreesborotn.gov.

  • Greg Harvey March 9, 2011, 11:54 am

I bought a diesel for the reputation of “good fuel milage and low maintence”. my 2003 6.L is anything but that. bad milage and a constant money pit from about about 65k miles. less than 150k miles now and going to have to take out a loan on this piece of junk just to keep it on the road. everything from the injectors, to EGRs, to the radio changing stations on its own when the truck is warming up and no one it, and the heater fan motors working at random when it wants. I want in on any suites against FORD. this will be my last one.

  • Don March 9, 2011, 8:01 pm

2003 6.0L F350 with the same issues as the rest. 80K miles and $7-9K in repairs due. Add me to the suit and I’d be happy to provide technical details.

SIGN ME UP FOR TH CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN ARIZONA.
WE HAVE A 2006 350 KING RANCH THAT HAS NO POWER FROM DAY ONE, CAN NOT EVEN PULL A 19 FT TRAVEL TRAILER UP A HILL 45MPH FLOORED. HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, EGR REPLACED, I AM SURE THE HEADS ARE DAMAGED TOO BUT THEIR EXCUSE IS THE TESTS DON’T SHOW ANYTHING. I THINK ALL THEY PERFORM IS A PRESSURE CHECK AND IT WON’T SHOW A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THE BACKUP SENSOR DOES NOT WORK, HAD IT IN 3 TIMES FOR SAME PROBLEM, THEY KEEP BLAMING US FOR DOING SOMETHING WRONG. THE LAST TIME IT WORKED ENOUGH TO SHOW THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE WIRING SOMEWHERE. UNDER FORDS SERVICE WARRANTY PROGRAM THEY PUT IN THE NEW FUEL FILTER, LATER WHEN WE HAD WATER IN FUEL LIGHT ON AND TOOK IT BACK WE WERE ACCUSED OF PUTTING IN AN AFTER MARKER FILTER. FORD WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WORKED ON THIS TRUCK. WE TOOK THIS TRUCK IN 3 DIFFERENT TIMES OVER SEVERAL MONTH THAT WE SMELLED COOLANT WHEN GOING UP HILLS. FIRST WE WERE TOLD WE HAD TOO MUCH COOLANT IN RADIATOR AND SECOND TIME WE WERE TOLD WE NEEDED TO BUY A NEW AND IMPROVED RADIATOR CAP. THE THIRD TIME THE EGR WAS REPLACED, SO NOW I AM SURE IT IS IN THE HEADS BUT SINCE OUR WARRANTY IS ABOUT TO RUN OUT THEY CAN’T FIND IT AT THIS TIME OR THEY DON’T WANT TO. WE TOOK A DUMP TRAILER TO THE DEALER FOR A TEST DRIVE WITH THE TRUCK TO SHOW THE LACK OF POWER AND THEY WOULD NOT TEST DRIVE IT AND CLAIMED THE DUMP TRAILER WAS OVERLOADED. NOT SURE WHAT THAT WOULD HAVE HAD TO DO WITH THE PULLING POWER OF THE TRUCK, THAT WOULD HAVE ONLY BEEN A TRAILER PROBLEM. SO DOES THAT MEAN IT COULDN’T PULL A TRAVEL TRAILER WITH THE SAME WEIGHT AS THE DUMP TRAILER, PRETTY SAD. WHEN STARTING OUT FROM A STOP LIGHT AND MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO TRAFFIC THE ENGINE STALL IS SO BAD THAT IT IS DANGEROUS. FORD IS FULLY AWARE OF ALL THE PROBLEMS AND IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TAKEN AND AT A LARGE COST TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR ERROGANCE. I AM SURE THEY HAVE TOLD ALL THEIR DEALERSHIP OF ALL THE PROBLEMS AND TOLD THEM TO JUST HOLD OFF THE CUSTOMER. THE DEALERSHIP ALWAYS SAYS THEY PERFORMED THE REQUIRED TESTS BUT NOTHING SHOWED UP SO FORD WON’T COVER THE REPAIRS. MY QUESTION IS ARE THE TESTS PERFORMED THE RIGHT TESTS TO SHOW THE PROBLEMS OR JUST ANOTHER WAY OF NOT TAKING CARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBLITIES, THERE ARE JUST TOO MAY VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT THEY ARE NOT FULLY AWARE AND THIS JUST CONTINUALLY IS THE SAME SCAM OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

I have a 2006 powerstroke 250 bought new in 2006 from bradly ford in lake havasu az. truck has 100,000 miles and I’ve had all maint. done on truck. It still runs but is worthless if I try to trade it in, especially to ford. need direction to a az law firm dealing with the 6 liter problem

  • George Ramsden March 14, 2011, 11:15 am

I own a 2005 F250 that started having issues in last month of warranty. Vehicle now has 82000 miles. Vehicle was hard to crank, shut off at low speed. Replaced fuel filters as thougtht I had gotten bad fuel. In to shop for week replaced parts, downpipe cracked, back out of shop-ck engine light on so went to different dealership. Turbo had to be replaced. Hooked up to camper and didn’t get 100 miles when ck engine came on again. Back to shop. Light flagged due to temp difference in water vs. oil but couldn’t identify what was wrong. Advised me to drive on which I did. Got to camp and dropped trailer. 5 months later when returning with camper, ck engine light came on again. Shop told me some grit in oil would cause this and eventually would have to replace oil pump & egr. Mechanics already told me I could anticipate blowing head gasket as original poor design and that they’d used stretch bolts in head. To solve problem would cost between $4000 to $6000. I want out of this truck. Don’t believe it has value. Consumer Reports warns against this truck with 6.0. Don’t believe it’s safe to tow camper. I dread pulling it come summer and am considering selling camper vs. trying to tow again. That was why I purchased the “dependable” diesel. Ford should be forced to pay.

i want in. i got a used 2006 6.0 have driven it for about 20000 miles and i have put nearly 5000 dollar in repairs. i’m in illinois how can i get involved?

  • Gary Beck Global Composites, Inc. March 15, 2011, 9:46 am

I am owner of business which purchased four 2003 Ford 350 6.0 diesel. We had Chevy trucks before and based on the representation of the Ford 6.0 diesel being bullet proof we purchased four 350 HD 6.0 trucks and one 650 Ford. There were very few weeks we ever had all five trucks on the road at the same time due to being in repair. The 350’s had constant injector problem. My manager had to keep a chart showing which injectors had been replaced due to many being changed more that once. We basically lost the use of one truck, along with delivery problems with our customers. Once we sent a 350 in for repair and the dealer smoked the engine, stating they could not shut the engine off. They replaced that engine. We also had one of the 350 engines low power when taken to the dealer they stated the driver had abused the engine and would not cover the repair. The engine replacement cost would have been $ 16,000.00. We decided to use that truck for replacement parts. The 650 Ford spent many weeks in the Ford repair shop due to transmission problems which Ford stated was Allisons (who built the trany) problem and Allison stated that is was Fords problem. Several times the truck went into the shop for repair for more that one week causing delivery problems. We discussed these problems with the Ford dealer and notified Ford but got nowhere. At this point we are in the process of replacing the units and Ford is not on the list to contact. If there is a class action suit in Indiana we would be more that happy to join.

I brokedown on the way to Fla from NY. Running down highway at 65mph truck shut down coasted to side of road. Truck towed to Ford dealer in Fla. One week later started to find out what is wrong. Dealer wants to replace starter first at my dollar. Dealer states must find out if motor sezed. This truck is a 2003 F250 Super Duty 4×4 with 41,000 miles. Total cost to me 11,500.00 if motor is gone.

  • Rocky & Cindy Umphres March 18, 2011, 2:40 pm

    We have a 2006 F350 Super Duty 4 x 4 6.0 diesel.
Started having problems with this pickup in 2008. We took it to the Ford dealership and they run their tests on it and they could not find a problem. Took the pickup back to the same Ford dealership and they claimed they fixed the problem. This pickup still had rough running and no power. This Ford dealership had told us to had a deisel injector treatment, which we did. A couple weeks later the pickup would not start at all. We had the pickup towed to another another Ford dealership and they fixed the starting problem, but the pickup still had the rough running and no power problem. In October 2010 we had both the EGR and Oil Coolers replaced. Now 12,000 miles later we have EGR problems again……….Really disappointed in this pickup. Ford Company should have to pay for all of this aggrevation!!!!

  • CARL O. March 19, 2011, 10:46 am

Just over a year ago, I was driving when my 2004 F350 died on the turnpike… The pickup only has 46,000 miles on it… I cost me over $8000.00 to fix the problem… the dealer finally diagnosed the problem to the fact that a Navistar employee failed to properly torque the one and only bolt that holds down the internal oil pump housing… It came loose, and because of the loss of oil pressure, the engine shut down…. OVER $8000….. I AM FURIOUS… I HOPE I MAY JOIN THE CLASS ACTION… Thanks to the creators of this wonderful web site…l

2006 F-350 6.0L diesel. 64,000 and have put $4,100 in the truck in the last 8 weeks. FICM failure, and now the EGR cooler, EGR valve, and Oil Cooler. Add me to the lawsuit, I’ll provide all receipts and technical details.

  • James Banks March 23, 2011, 5:37 pm

I have a 2006 350 super duty with a 6.0 power stroke diesel. With just 45k miles on the truck the EGR and head gaskets decide to let go. The truck is 4 months over the factory warranty at the time of this posting. I called the ford customer NO help line and they were real nice and took down all the info about my truck and then decided not to return my calls.
I would like to join the suit against ford and show them what JOB ONE really means.

  • Brandon Bond March 24, 2011, 9:12 am

I have a 2005 Ford F350 that ran great to 40k miles and then the problems began. I have been trough serveral EGR systems, turbo, oil cooler, cold start issues, head gaskets, and then came a new short block around 82,000 miles. I purchase a car for a dialy driver because of the motor being highly unreliable and it has spent several months of its life in a shop. I ran it down to Ford at 85K miles for a O-Ring kit to solve a fuel leak problem and it actually broke down in the Ford parking lot costing me serval thousand dollar in injectors, stand pipe, and other misc. parts and still having issues and again this is not to long after the entire engine was apart and inspected. I had paid this truck off to keep for a daily driver and to tow my camptrailer and feel I am stuck with it and have had to purchas a car for the simple fact I can not trust the truck. This truck has left my wife and kids stranded several times which is unacceptable when you consider you pay $50k for a deisel truck for the reliablility and longevity This is all that I recall but I know there is more, and it has been an absolute nishtmare and Ford has not been the best to work with so I would absolutly love to be part of a class action lawsuit!

  • Chris And Jenna Tadlock March 26, 2011, 11:25 am

I own (unfortunatley) a 03 F350 6.0L Powerstroke. I bought this truck used in 2008 as a gift to myself. In the two and a half years I have owned this truck I have put $7000.00 just in parts. I do the labor myself to save money. I traded in a 96 dodge on this truck with a 5.9L and as soon as I get this D thing running I am trading it off for another dodge. If there is anyway I can get in on the class action lawsuit please let me know. I will be glad to provide any and all information I can.

I have a 2003 6.0l . Nothing but problems after warranty ran out, wire harness replaced,EGR valve, fuel injector control module, low pressure oil pump,1 injector, month later 4 more, year later 3 more, 2 weeks later 6 are bad again and dealer needs $2600 just to replace them so they can find out what is wrong with it. I have put almost $15000 in this truck in the last 3 years and it still won’t run currently at dealer.
Ford told me go too hell they were not responsible. Count me in on any class action lawsuite that comes along

I have a 2006 F350 King Ranch with 110k mileage. Repair cost, Ford warranty and me, todate is $35000,00 dollars +. That works out to be $1000.00 dollars for every 3.2 miles driven. It now has another dead FICM Ford wants $1200.00 dollars to fix it. How can they get a way with this ???????????

  • steve kirdy March 27, 2011, 10:01 pm

I am disgusted by Fords lack of integrity regarding the 6.0. It has been a huge expense. I bought my truck brand new with the intent of having it a very long time.
I lost track of the time and money that I continue to put into that truck. My truck has 81,000 miles. It has been in the shop several times. I do not know how I will pay for the current problem. I will likely have to cash in my retirement.

    Untill the next repair…….

  • Brian Schroeder March 28, 2011, 9:50 am

I have a couple Ford superdutys in my fleet. One of which is the 03 six litre. We have had continued problems with this engine going back to 2007 at which time it was misdiagnosed at a local dealer only to find out now that it has blown head gaskets among other things. I have spent $4000 since December 2010 and now I’m looking at another $7600 for this. Why in the hell is there not more being done about this??? It is everywhere, every mechanic says they are junk, even some of the dealers mechanics say they are horrible engines. I can’t even sell the truck. Nobody will touch it because it has the six litre. This truck only has 71,000 miles on it!!!

  • Cinty Plano March 29, 2011, 10:53 am

We have a 2008 f-250 6.4 diesel engine truck . My husband was driving down the road when the cruise control went out. He tried pressing the gas but with no power. The truck ran but wouldnt get up and go. He contacted a friend with a king ranch that had the same problem. told him to put it in neutral turn it off then turn it back on. After that was done it worked but with the check engine light still on. We contacted a friend of ours retired Ford Mechanic and he told us the problem was common and far too expensive for ford to do a recall. So the consumer is paying 4 to 8 thousand dollars to fix it. They are now telling people to refer to their insurance companies to try to get them to fix it. Our friend the ford mechanic told us that it is a very common defect caused by the pump not able to keep moisture out of the engine. It falls apart and is junk, thats why everyone is having these problems. Ford refuses to recall and fix it. They tell you its due to contaminated gasoline. Which is a bunch of b.s we use the same fuel semi diesels use and they dont have these problems these pumps are known to go bad just outside the warranty coverage range of 100k miles ours is at 115k. If someone can respond to this maybe together we can make them pay for their poor engineering designs and the inconvience to us the consumer.

  • Craig Bright March 29, 2011, 11:09 am

I have an 03 F350 6.0 that has been nothing but bad luck all the way. Been in the shop more than on the road and now has three injectors failing and they want another $2,500 to replace these and the EGR. This truck is defintely a lemon and Ford needs to own up to the fact that the 6.0 is a mess and they need to recall all of them or extend the warranties so they are not hitting us with two or three grand in repairs every few months. THIS IS RIDICULOUS… . I want in on any suit againnst Ford for these trucks. Also have trouble with air conditioner and heater motor working internittently

  • Mike and Donna Mathis March 29, 2011, 5:50 pm

We also own a 2006 King Ranch, F-350 diesel. One month after warranty we had to have the EGR replaced and two fuel injectors. We were told that more than likely the rest would need replacing as well. We had brought this truck in for similar problems during the course of the warranty and when this happened we were hit with $2500.00 in repairs. It is now dying on us as we drive. This is now becoming a severe safety hazard and we fear this will cause an accident. We need this vehicle for our work and yet, Ford, will not make good on any of these repairs. We were never offered an extended warranty and that’s what needs to be done at the very least. We would like to be part of this class action suit and pray we are not killed because of this severe engine problem.

  • Earl Stevens March 30, 2011, 10:23 am

I feel suckered punched by ford I have always purchased ford vehicles and this one has been the worst 2007 f250 6.0L junk engine only credit I will give is when the engine blew at 80,000 miles they replaced it ,only problem I was 200 miles from home had to leave it at the dealer for a month and find my own home and then go back at my expense to pick it up after the new engine at times when I accelarate the truck almost dies so now I perfer not to drive it should have defected from ford when the 2 motors in my excursion died at 75,000 they want improve until the foreign companies start competing in their market then we will see quailty built ford tough.

  • Keith Newman March 30, 2011, 11:54 am

I to would like become part of this. My 2006 F250 has 28,210 origanal miles on it and blew a head gasket last week. 4 months out of the 5 year warranty and Ford basically said “we know it’s an issue, but your out of luck”. ARP is back logged on head stud orders and is currently making 20,000 head studs a month for the 6.0. I would like to sue the pants off of Ford.

  • Tom Monaghan April 1, 2011, 10:39 pm

I have a 2004 F350 with the 6.0 liter diesel. This truck is a piece of garbage. I bought it with 49,000 miles on it and have only put on 3000 miles. The engine is completely fried and it is currently in the shop. I’m in the Army and help purchase equipment for government use. From this point on I will never allow Ford to sell anything to the government!

a I also have a 2007 sd ford with a 6.0 diesel. I bought my truck after owening all kinds of Fords througt the years. I always wanted a diesel to use in my hobby working with antique cars. I have been sick and havent been able to drive the truck much but hope to due better soon.My truck only has 11000 miles on it now.the trouble is I have read in differane publications of all the trouble the owner of Ford sd with a 6.o and any other truck that have a 6.0 diesel engine in then. I have talked to differnt Ford people and found that all will tell you the same lie, and that lie was the same one they told me the night I was buying this new Ford truck with a 6.0 diesel. I had a conversation with the sale manager at a local Ford dealer hear in Blairville,PA .I had reservations about buying the Ford diesel 6.0,but the sale staft all reashored me the 6.0 diesel have been profected and should not have trouble not worry . And all I can think about is what kind af expensive I will incur when I get feeling better an wanting to enjoy my expensive Ford 6.0 diesel. I waited a long time to own this king of truck. I have though about trading or selling the truck but I have been told buy dealer that no one wants the Ford with the 6.0 diesel engines and some cases the dealer would list of troubles that everyone is having. How can you over come all that bad public opinion.

I have an 06 F350 Diesel 4×4 dually, my truck has sat broken down more then driving for the last 2 years. I have 113,000 miles on it. I have had the EGR replaced 5 times, 1/2 the turbo, 2 o-rings, 1 fuel injector, oil pressure reduce valve and a few other things!! My truck sat at the dealer ship for nearly 6 weeks straight. Now I am a proud owner of a 2006 F350 Dually, King Ranch Yard Art. That is right!!! 113,000 miles and now sits broken down again with a head gasket that needs to be replaced with will cost several thousands of dollars! Ford you have screwed up, least you can do is make it right!

  • Sylvia Stoll April 3, 2011, 12:52 am

I bought a used 04 F250 6.0L ‘Superduty’ back in 06. Within one month, had to replace the alternator. Have replaced the alternator three more times every year in the fall except for 09. Now the truck needs a new EGR system, at least two injectors, various seals and probably a fuel pump and various electronics that go along with that. Truck loses power at high speeds and then takes off like it’s possessed. Shifts rough at all speeds, will not move at all until engine is thoroughly warmed up. The turd service mgr at Skaha Ford, Penticton was rude to the point of asking me to bring in my Dad to interpret what he was saying and oh yeah, gouged me $2100 for new rear brakes. I was so disgusted with the service there that I complained to Ford Motors Canada and the Better Business Bureau. I hate this truck and am scared to drive it for fear of being stranded somewhere again for the umpteenth time. I have only put about 50k on the truck and it needs about 10k in repairs. The truck has been parked in my yard broken down since Sept of 2010. I was recommended to REPLACE THE MOTOR WITH SOMETHING/ANYTHING ELSE besides the 6.0L diesel. I want in on this class action suit.

  • Kyle April 3, 2011, 10:29 am

I bought a 04 f-350 because i needed a diesel truck. I had to move from alaska to texas and the truck basically died in cali, I had to limp it to my mothers house where it sat at the ford dealership and i had to sh*t out another 4500 for repairs. And now its just sucking down coolant…..i want in on this suit

  • Edward Stump April 4, 2011, 6:41 am

I purchased a 2005 F-350 Nov. 2010 and so far have not expirienced any problems. But after reading all the horror stories I becoming a little concerned. It’s going to bankrupt me if I start having to pour money into repairs since there was no warranty. The dealer told us that they had very few 6.0 L in for repairs and this one had no issues. I would very much like to be kept informed of any lawsuits involving this vehicle. This is the first Ford I have owned in a long time and it could very well be the last.

If the dealer told you that there have been very few of these trucks in for service, he was lying through his teeth. Ford spent over a billion dollars on warranty issues in the first couple of years of production of this engine. You will not find a satisfied 6.0L engine owner anywhere in N. America, I would put money on it. I recommend you take it back and demand your money back before the astronomical repair bills start coming in.

I have a 2004 F 350 6.o Liter 89,000 miles. I took it in under warrenty and they stated that the Turbo seals were bad and replaced the seals. I continued to have problems with coolant leaking slightly as then the warrenty was up. Now it has large amounts of coolant on the ground . I am out of transportation . I would like to join a class action lawsuit to fix this problem.

I purchased a new 2006 F-250 Super Duty Lariat 4×4 Crew Cab 8ft. bed 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel and from about day 1 the engine would frequently hesitate and make the truck “buck” under acceleration. The dealer (Mahwah Ford in NJ) told me I probably had some moisture in the fuel line and that it was “typical”. The problem never went away. While towing our RV, on an interstate going up hill, the truck completely lost power and I had to coast to the shoulder nearly missing a tractor trailer as I tried to merge losing speed rapidly. The truck restarted and continued to run after that episode, but with seemingly even less power. The Ford dealer claimed they couldn’t find any problems, and continued to tell me the hesitation was typical for the truck. After being told by other owners this was indeed a known problem, I cut my losses and traded the truck in for truck from Dodge in order to avoid the problems and expense I was told that were on the horizon if I kept the truck for any longer period of time. I lost about between my $10k cash down payment and trade deprecation to part with that problem truck . Several dealers I went to for trade appraisal made it clear to me that they were aware of the 6.0L problems Ford was having and reflected it on the trade vaule. I paid $48k for the Truck new, and with 18k mikes on it, was only given $30k to get out from under it. So in my eyes I lost $16k to avoid being stuck with a money pit that would leave me stranded on the side of the road. Letters and calls I sent and made to Ford Headquarters about my experience went unanswered and un-returned. Ford and the Ford dealer financially hurt me on this truck.

I have a 2005 F350 6.0 diesel with 112,800 miles on it and like the rest of you I to have problems. I bought it used in 2009 and it was great for the first 15,ooo when the high oil pressure pump went bad. That wasnt too bad until late last year when the alternator, EGR cooler and valve went bad all with in 3 months. Had that replaced and cost me about 2,000 to fix. Now the EGR went bad again and also all my fuel injectors might have to be replaced. The shop wants 4,200 to fix it all and i dont have that kind of money. I’m forced to have it sit in my drive way and buy a beater car to get me to work and save up to fix it. I use it for work and i bought it so that it would be reliable to me and it hasn’t. I’m so unhappy with my truck. All I keep hearing is how bad this engine is and I want in on this class action lawsuit if I can.

  • Jeffrey Charles Selvoski April 5, 2011, 11:33 am

Most of you are lucky not to have purchased 5 trucks with 6.0 liter engines. I have been running a successful non union company for 20 years. These trucks have cost me in repairs and standby cost in excess of 6 figures easily. In addition, purchased a 500 GT along with the five trucks and It went down needing an Alternator at 900 miles. Chinese componentry? or bad union workers? I expect more for my money. We need a youtube explaination. My son is getting the SN of the trucks with repair cost and dates. Look forward to my youtube experince with Ford 6.0 liter engines. I want something done now.

  • Harry Henkel April 5, 2011, 12:21 pm

Ibought new 06 ford diesel . Has a total of 43,000 miles at this point. Been to ford for runability problem, fuel pump issues ,alternator replacement ,engine leaks, brake issues, engine sensor issues, clutches in the posi rearend had to be replaced, advised by ford mechanic to install coolant filter, thats done, use additive in every tank of fuel due to moisture issues, installed additional oil micron filter to keep oil cleaner, all of this to try and keep fords problem from biting me in the butt. I have been advised to replace the egr and head gaskets at the same time I have ARP studs installed. All this at a cost to exceed seven thousand dollars. What else???

  • Rich Bowman April 5, 2011, 1:24 pm

I bought a 2003 F-350 dually new in 03 and have had to have the turbo replaced with less than 20,000 on the truck. I had the injectors replaced two years ago with 37,000 on it and am in the middle of haveing the egr cooler and the heads done now with 54,000 on the truck. Count me in on any thing that can recoup some money for this boon doggle.

  • Robert C Reichenbach Sr April 5, 2011, 5:05 pm

I have a 2005 F-350 6.0 that I bought brand new. Nobody but me drives it. Regular maintance no short trips Never worked or towed anything heavy and NO!!!!!!! modifications at all. Replacement turbo at 22000.One month short of the 5 year warranty at 32727 the low pressure oil pump blew apart taking the front engine cover out. Malouf Ford patched up myengine by installing new pump and cover. Truck made whining noise when started they install ed another turbo . Whining noise still there untill hot than noise in bottom end of truck. Malouf said nothing wrong with truck. At 43085 last week the knock is really bad along with a heavy vibration and smoke. They did nothing for me.This is my 3rd new Ford diesel and 26th ford product I have owned. I will never buy a New Ford Again. As a matter of fact this whole thing left such a bad taste in my mouth I bought my first foreign car Toyota Camry Hybrid Best car I have ever owned to date. Maybe when Toyota starts bringing 1 ton trucks to our shores and becomes the number one selling truck in america I will have no sympathy for Ford

  • John Riccio April 6, 2011, 12:00 pm

    Hi folks,

As I write, my 2003, 6.0L, F-350 crew cab sits in the shop with another $1,400 being thrown at it for the the correction of bad design and engineering. I spent over $4,000 just six months ago for the FICM, high pressure oil pump, etc. to be replaced. I’ve owned this vehicle since 2006 and drive it on the weekends for my kids dirt bike hauling. I’ve just put a little over 20,000 miles since I’ve owned it…do the math approximately $1,000 per 4,000 miles of travel. The truck’s drivetrain and body are excellent, but this 6.0L engine setup has something to be desired. How can an Alabama boy join this lawsuit and help make things right. What I’d really like to do with Ford I can’t post!

    • pat mcneill March 26, 2012, 8:59 am

Where do you live in Alabama?I need help with my 6.0 diesel problems. How can I join this law suit?I want all my money back from this vehicle.

have 06 f250 188k. Just had horror story; need injectors ,egr and oil cooler. Always had serviced at Ford dealer but never told about any preventative servicing required. Now I can pay their high labor rate to fix junk

    • Paul Straat April 21, 2011, 9:56 am

Oh Bill, do we feel your pain. We have a 2007 with 155k, the engine is toast and they say no warranty because we made the mistake of doing an EGR delete which ironically probably prolonged our engines life. We should have left that piece of crap on and those bastards would be on the hook for the whole thing including the $6k we already had to swallow for a new turbo and injectors they also wouldn’t cover due to said EGR transgression!!! We’re desperate. This truck is our livelihood. Ford sucks!!!!

  • Bryson Rutz April 6, 2011, 8:08 pm

I am a college student who runs my own business and works for my family farm and need my truck to run when I start it up. I have a 2004 f-350 4×4 with 63k miles. I cannot afford to fix all of these issues. I am however in Oregon, let me know if I can take part in all of this.

  • Phillip McBride April 7, 2011, 11:08 am

I bought ’04 F350 Ford Super Duty used 56,000 mi. on it Oct. ’09,
did not notice any problem til couple months later when I hooked it to
my camper for test run and it started blowing black smoke and missing.
I took to friend on my in auto repair business, he said it showed EGR
system bad, he ran history on the truck and showed the EGR system
had been replaced twice before, plus the turbo. I had bought an extended warrantee, so I took it back to Toyoto dealer where I bought
it, they send it to our local Ford dealerfor repair. Total bill $4476.
Warranty only covered $1800. of the bill. They replaced water pump,
front engine cover, and EGR system. After I had bought the truck,
everyone said the 6.0 was a bad engine, even to Ford service manager
said they had problems with this engine. Yes I would like to join the
    class action law suit.

  • M Barnes April 9, 2011, 3:15 pm

When I bought my new 2004 F250 6.o, the pitch was that it would be a 300,000 mile truck with NO problems, because the motor was so well designed! What a JOKE! In warranty, I had Transmission rebult, Turbo replaced, various sensors replaced. As soon as it was out of warranty, EGR valve and Oil Cooler had to be replaced(3400.00), Fuel Pressure sensor, Transmission sensor, other various fixes(2400.00 total) and just recently, the High Pressure Oil Pump(that fires the injectors) failed(another 3800.00). Kelly blue book says it’s worth 15k, but no one will give me what it’s worth as a trade, because everyone knows what a piece of junk the motor is…….. I paid it off a couple of years ago, and have put almost another 10,000.00 into it! I want IN on any Class Action litigation that’s going on.

  • stephen byrd meeker April 9, 2011, 5:53 pm

Same story as all the rest, 3 re-calls ,2 shop repairs, bought toyhauler to be pulled with this 04 f-350 with 6.0 motor , & scared heads will blow ,Want to put ARP studs ,but why with cost ! truck is all factory junk [no mods] bought & had ford trucks 40 years , like truck , hate motor & trans , looks great on rollback ! I’m in on anything , but know it will take time , also got 2 year extended program. truck only has 58,000 miles, all high way, no towing , to scared , use old dodge , with cummins , might have to buy new dodge , but like ford & hope ford will make me [ whole ] & in new truck that is reliable ! title in byrd enterprises, lovingston, va. thanks for letting me vent & have hope , & like other poster am selling large camper this spring till I have way to pull it. It will be cheaper to stay in motel room ! Sad.Even worse new 6.7 is made mexico with carbon fiber block & aluminum heads , great ? Heard 04 f-250-350 where made in southern country too !

I have a 2007 F250 Harley Davidson edition and it is a pile. I called ford customer service and they dont care a bit about trying to help me out. All i wanted was them to cover my warranty after the 100K was out, and they dont see how egr cooler, oil cooler, turbo bed plate, and a ton of other items are an issue. In 25k miles, mine has been in the shop for major major items 5 times. Im ready to give my $60K to Toyota for a new tundra! sign me up!

i want in, ihave a 2003 f 350, ibought new, at less than 100 k miles, still under warranty, new short block, because of excessive end play in crankshaft. january 2011 leaving denver colo. truck quit, ford garage, four injectors, both fuel filters, 2500 dollars two days later, left denver again, about 25 miles, truck quit, back to samee garage, i more day, and 220o dollars more, was on the road. in march going to salt lake city, pulled out of rest area going uphill, engine coughed several times, i was afraid it was going to quit again. made it there and back without more problems. i have never received anything by mail or any other method about the problems with this engine. i have owned three other ford diesels, and was very happy with them, also several with gas engines, not happy with the problems i have had with this truck. thank you.

    • Steve April 12, 2011, 6:55 pm

I hate to say it, but I love my 2002 F450 with 7.3L engine.
The dealer wanted me to wait 2 months until the 6.0 came out but I figured a motor with 17 years of production would be better.

  • Rick Cook April 12, 2011, 10:05 pm

To many issues to talk about. We farm and all equipment is maintained properly but this truck 05 f-350 is hitting the shop every 6 months for some repair and sometimes more often.I would be interested in joining in the class action.I also purchased extended warranty which is very difficult to claim.

  • joe ackerman April 13, 2011, 6:10 am

Have 07 crew cab no problems yet , but do service before Ford recommends. Two friends with same truck both 05 one has been at the dealer for 3 months other is puking anti freeze . Ford u need to stand behind your work. Their is no market for these trucks as trade-ins Ford didn’t take half off when they sold me this time bomb. Well sign me up

  • John April 13, 2011, 11:34 am

We are very interested in more information on this class action and would like more information. We were just told today that we will need to have the engine replaced on our 2007 Ford F550 for the third time. Our truck only has 77,000 miles on it and has been meticuously maintained. This truck has been in for service and repairs associated with the engine a total of 26 times in the past 4 years. All Ford was willing to do was to give us a 200,000 mile extended warranty which doesn’t make up for the loss in value and reliability. At this time, we are sitting in Illinois waiting for the replacement engine when we should be back home in Minnesota.

  • Billy B April 14, 2011, 10:41 am

Baught my 2006 6.0 Power Stroke in March of 06. At approx 43,000 miles (March of 08) it shut down doing 70 miles per hour in the passing lane in rush hour traffic just below the S.C. and Ga. state line. Cause; No. 6 injector sucked air.. according to the mechanic it was not seated at the factory.. Ok.. it could happen. The almost two years later, July of 2010 at approx 47,000 miles about 50 miles west of Jacksonville Fla. it lost power. had to be towed in again.. EGR valve was clogged and had to be replaced plus around $100.00 in misc. cleaners to clean the engine. Got it out of the shop that day and continued my drive to Charlston S.C. at which point it shut down again a mile from the camp ground where I was headed and would not start. Milage 48,000, had it towed in again and this time it was worse. The Injector modual that fire the injectorts went bad and sent a surge to 7 of the injectors which killed them. Ford did pay for replacement of all 8 injectors and a cost of $6,000.00. Now it is out of warrante and I cringe every time I sart it and want to go some where. I am so disgusted with Ford and this piece of junk. Count me in. I am a contract Engineer and need my truck to be reliable to take me and my 5th wheel to my job sites. The best thing Ford can do is take this piece of trash back. Just give me my money back so I canm go get a reliable truck.
    Absolutely disgusted!

Please include me in this Class Action Law Suit.

My 04 F 350 w/6.0 diesel had egr and heads replaced in 2007, I am told with the same size bolts! Had I not installed a a pyrometer for towing, the engine would have been a loss. Since then the engine either stalls or surges not a good thing at school cross walks. Twice the (ICP) internal control pressure sensor was replaced, but the problem keeps reoccurring.
The cooling system has been flushed in 2007 and in 2010 and becomes recontaminated within 1 oil change cycle. My vet has had even more problems with their 6.0. Please add me to the class action suite as well. The problem is not just in California according to Diesel power Magazine.

  • S Lutz April 15, 2011, 1:27 pm

Washington owners need in on this too. I have an ’05 with 58K miles and just had to replace the HFCM, ICP sensor and wire harness, and my mechanic is recommending replacement of oil cooler and EGR cooler. Once I’ve done these, I’m trading it for a GMC with the Duramax motor. I’ll never own another Ford pickup.

Just a week after my warranty was up, my 2004 F-250 6.0L blew up. It cost me roughly $5,000 just in parts to repair the damage. I found out the egr cooler leaked coolant into the intake manifold, which then ended up in the cylinder and caused extreme pressure which blew the headgaskets, and cracked the heads. Since the rebuild, I have also lost a total of 10 injectors ( $3000) 2 fuel pressure solenoids ( $750) 2 oil pressure gauges ($250) The FICM computer ($1100) a cracked exhaust uppipe ($400)… All in all I have well over $10,000 dollars in parts directly out of my wallet… I definitely think ford and international(navistar) should reimburse me for this P.O.S. engine… If anyone knows how i can join the lawsuit, I’m in… Carter Hoffland, 605-484-2238, carter_hoffland@hotmail.com

I too have a 2005 f350 that has had the turbo replaced and the head gaskets replaced because of a faulty egr cooler. Fortunatly they were covered by warranty at the time. Now I have over 100000 miles on the engine. What do I do the next time it happens? I live in Arizona. Is there anything going on in this state? I would like to be a part of it.

Bought an 07 6.0 F350 last year. Got a carfax adn it showed it was ok other then a few electrical problems. Since I have had the truck the trubo vanes have clogged. Fuel pressure Regulator leaked. Speed sensor went. had it all fixed. Then speed sondor goes again. Dash guages continuesly fails as Speedometer will bounce around. odometer stops or starts flipping 4 miles per everyone I drive. I bought the truck with 53k miles and it now just flipped 72500. So I decided to get a free Oasis Report. it showed the truck had the engine and wire loom replaced within the first 3 months after it was bought NEW. Then the heads were replaced. Oil cooler replaced. Injectors replace all before 15k miles.. So yeah I want in on this Class action lawsuit!

Bought a 2004 F250 w/6.0 Diesel in July of 2010, only had 97K mls. on it.
Ran it till weather cooled down and started to smoke white and rough starts till warmed up all the way so I took it to a Ford Truck Dealer in Springfield, Illinois. They seemed to know what was wrong even before testing. They gave me the proposal to fix it: Head gaskets w/new studs, 8 injectors, oil cooler, EGR cooler, and pull the cab off the chassy to accomplish this. Price was $7,400.00 min.. Well I had them just fix the EGR cooler with a Bulet Proof one and Factor oil cooler, they also reset a couple of codes. It ran better for a wile then noticed boiling in degass bottle and more white smoke out tail pipe. Dipped a piece of paper in degass bottle and noticed oil mixing with radiator fluid. Called dealer and they said their mechanics were buisy and I would have to give them a credit card to talk to them on the clock at $87.00 per hour. SIGN ME UP NOW!

I could sum up my statement with – “Ditto” to all the issues raised above with this 6.0L – We own a 2005 Excursion 88K miles – “The Money Pit” , we have a large family that depends or has depended on this vehicle and have been extremely dissappointed with its reliability , not to mention the cost of repairs.

I want in on this suit

  • Paul Straat April 21, 2011, 10:06 am

Just read the rest of this forum, absolutely horrified that so many have experienced even worse with this Ford POS than us. We’re up in Canada. How do we get in on this and what can we do?

  • Mark Spiering April 21, 2011, 7:53 pm

Just put$5k in mine. Dealership would give me half of what KBB lists for trade. Couldn’t afford to take that kind of loss and decided to throw money at a problem that may not go away.

Shame on you Ford! Stand by your products!

I like my truck until it just went up in smoke and now they tell me that I bought a lemon to begin with. I live in N. C. I just got it paid for now I start with repairs. I just had it in the shop for repairs and that was a $1000.00 and had to have it towed home because it was not drivable.

  • Matt Dobler April 21, 2011, 10:43 pm

I have an 06 6.0 with 105k miles, just replaced the FICM unit, and have just found out I need my oil cooler and EGR replaced to the tune of 2200 dollars, also they can’t guarantee I won’t need head gaskets for an addtl 3 grand. Let me know what I need to do to get involved with the suit. Come on everyone don’t give up, let’s stand together and let our voices be heard! Thanks, Matt.

  • Matt Lee April 22, 2011, 8:14 am

Bought 04 F-350 brand new off the lot. Even drove 150 miles to go look at it because it was touted as best towing and hauling. Owned my own business as a camper hauler and then as an enclosed car hauler for high dollar vehicles. Truck only had 200 miles on it when i picked it up. At 179,000 miles, I had the special expense of engine replacement in Kentucky when the engine dropped an injector and wiped out the cylinder and piston and the head. Stuck in Kentucky for a week and a half in a hotel room. Trying to get a second mortgage on my house to pay the $15,000 for engine replacement. Gave a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty on new engine. In the mean time, I am sitting in a motel room waiting on truck to get fixed and losing money because I am sitting and not hauling cars. I live by Cleveland, Ohio and getting home is not an option because the Ford dealer said it would only be a few days for the replacement. Since the engine was replaced, I spent more time broke down on the side of the road and at dealers than I did driving this “wonderful” vehicle. I then bought a single axle big truck tractor and parked this piece of junk in the driveway at home with a for sale sign in the window. It’s still collecting dust out there and I refuse to drive it. I have ALL receipts for repairs since I purchased this “Ford Tough” vehicle. I have gone to the extent of sitting at the Ford dealer and dettering buyers from purchasing any vehicle with the 6.0 engine in it. Telling them that it was the biggest piece of junk on the road and not to buy it. Ford was not to happy about this, but I don’t know why…………… I was just trying to save them money in the long run by expensive warranty repairs. I have put a new engine in it, new turbo, all 8 injectors, 2 oil pumps, oil pump drive 3 times, injector module once, 3 EGR valves, and I cant remember what else since I have all bills and have forced myself to forget about this piece of junk. I will never own another 6.0 and neither will anyone I know. I have since bought an 04 Excursion with the V-10 gas engine because I liked the ride and comfort of the Ford, and they even tried to sell me one with the 6.o in it and I told them what I thought and started to get irate with them, so they even gave me $2000 off the Excursion when I purchased it. I want in on the lawsuit to recoup some of the money (almost $20,ooo) invested in this dust collector. I will never drive it again for fear of breaking down and the repair bills or the towing bill.

    • Matt April 22, 2011, 8:28 am

Email me with info on this lawsuit and I will be in it before you can finish asking me if I want in. Biggest piece of shit on the road. I depend on my bicycle before I drive this thing to the end of the driveway. What a way to do business Ford!

I have only 71,477 miles on my 2005 F250. It has already been in for a sensor issue, where it just wouldn’t start. Now, the turbo is going, the glow plug is going, etc., and I’m looking at more money out-of-pocket, around $2500. This will be my last Ford, and I would like to be part of the class-action suit, if it is possible.
    Thank you.

  • Don April 22, 2011, 6:11 pm

2004, 58K, same as all above, no options other than to pay Ford to repair it now!
Would love to be added to this class action lawsuit!

  • Keivn April 23, 2011, 4:27 pm

I have been having the same problems with my 2005 F250 6.0. I am currently in the army and I have enough to worry about other than my truck breaking down every year and costing me thousands. I bought the truck used with around 50,000 miles and now I have 125,000. Between that time I have had the motor completley torn down and repaired by ford. The heads have been replaced once. The EGR Cooler and Oil cooler have been replaiced twice. I have taken every precaution that i can think of by adding a sinister coolant filter system. I recently just blew the oil cooler again and I have had it. Ford needs to get off their ass and contact everyone that ownes one of these trucks and have these items fixed, on their dollar. Like I said I am in the army and for what I do I dont make that much money and I cant keep dumping thousands in this thing on stuff that should not be breaking. Let me know how I can get in on this Lawsuit.

I have a 2003 f250 with the 6.0 diesel. 90k miles the whole fuel system and computer failed . Over $3200 in repairs. I want to join this lawsuit. I will never EVER buy another ford product. I live and bought this truck in California.

  • Sean L April 24, 2011, 10:54 pm

I am from Nebraska and I want to be apart of this if i can! I bought an 05 f250 with the 6.0. I bought it with 121,000 miles June of 2010. I’ve had it in the shop twice for EGR work, injectors, and FICM work. couldn’t afford repairs due to how freaking much they were so i had to pay a couple hundred for them to diagnose it and tell me it needs thousands in repairs. I put under 6000 miles on it and luckily its still runs but i have to let it warm up before it runs correctly. I love the truck but I’m looking at swapping the 6.0 for a 5.9 cummins, from ford-cummins the kit is around $2200 plus what ever a lower milage Cummins 12valve, 24 valve, or common rail engine may cost. but still cheaper than keeping the 6.0 on the road with all the repairs. annoyed and looking for answers

  • Fred Larson April 25, 2011, 10:33 am

I own a 2003 F-350 dually which I have had to replace six injectors,
two EGR valves, oil cooler, FICM, two sets of ball joints, two alternators, the computer had to be reflashed when it was new and the gear shifter had to be replaced .The dealer here called one day to see if I still owned the truck. If it would have had a 7.3 in it they would had traded but since it has the 6.0 they won’t touch unless I more or less give it to them. I won’t take it back to the Ford shop because it would cost twice as much. My brother has owned Dodges and has been very pleased with Dodge when a problem would come up. Nothing like the way Ford treats their customers. I most definately would like to be involved with this class action suit because I can’t sell it or trade it in on something dependable. Ford and Navistar quality is nothing but a lie.
