Current And Former Owners And/Or Lessees Of 2004-2007 Ford E-150; 2004-2007 Ford E-250; 2004-2007 Ford E-350; 2004-2007 Ford E-450; 1999-2008 Ford F-250 SD; 1999-2008 Ford F-350 SD; 2003, 2005-2008 Ford F-440 SD; 2005-2008 F-550 SD; 2004-2008 F-650 SD; or 2004-2008 F-750 SD File Class Action Lawsuit Against Ford Over Alleged Fuel Tank Defect.

A class action lawsuit has reportedly been filed against Ford Motor Company (“Ford Motor” or “Ford” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (captioned Galo Coba and Coba Landscaping and Construction, Inc. v. Ford Motor Company) alleging, among other things, that certain Ford vehicles (2004-2007 Ford E-150; 2004-2007 Ford E-250; 2004-2007 Ford E-350; 2004-2007 Ford E-450; 1999-2008 Ford F-250 SD; 1999-2008 Ford F-350 SD; 2003, 2005-2008 Ford F-440 SD; 2005-2008 F-550 SD; 2004-2008 F-650 SD; or 2004-2008 F-750 SD) contain a defect that that cause the inner fuel tank lining to separate and flake off, clogging the fuel systems with tank lining debris and rust, allegedly resulting in sudden loss of power to the engine and other critical systems, bucking and kicking, sudden loss of power steering, and sudden stalling, according to the Ford fuel tank liner class action lawsuit complaint.

Plaintiffs bring the Ford fuel tank liner action individually and on behalf of a proposed nationwide class pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. Pr. P. 23(a), 23(b)(2), and/or 23(b)(3); specifically, the following Class:

The Class: All persons or entities in the United States who are current or former owners and/or lessees of any 2004-2007 Ford E-150; 2004-2007 Ford E-250; 2004-2007 Ford E-350; 2004-2007 Ford E-450; 1999-2008 Ford F-250 SD; 1999-2008 Ford F-350 SD; 2003, 2005-2008 Ford F-440 SD; 2005-2008 F-550 SD; 2004-2008 F-650 SD; or 2004-2008 F-750 SD vehicles.

The Ford fuel tank liner class action lawsuit complaint reportedly asserts claims for, among other things, alleged breach of express warranty, violation of the New Jersey consumer fraud act, breach of implied warranty of merchantability, common law fraud, breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing and unjust enrichment.

The Ford fuel tank liner separation class action lawsuit complaint reportedly seeks, among other things, actual, general, special, incidental, statutory, treble, punitive, and consequential damages, pre-judgment interest, post-judgment interest and attorneys’ fees and costs.

I just traded my 2007 Ford F-150 in for another vehicle because the gas mileage was horrible. Plus, I had several problems fixed and repaired because when I stopped the vehicle it always felt like it was going to stall or cut off. It was always missing when it was idol.

  • David Drew March 15, 2012, 3:47 pm

Please include me in this suit, I can vouch the truck had the problems that are explained in the article. And, I only had 67.000 miles on the truck.

Currently my 2008 F-350 is in the shop due to contaminated fuel. The shop showed me rust in the secondary fuel filter housing. He explained to me that ford sent out a service bullitin saying this is not covered under warranty. The service tech told me the repair will cost me $11000.00 dollars. I could not comprehend an 11g repair. I contacted my insurance and they advised they would take care of it . If this be the case and ford has turned their back on loyal consumers my next diesel truck will be a chevrolet. I agree with the lawsuit!!!

  • chad ginger March 15, 2012, 8:11 pm

i can also agree with this lawsuit…….please include me.

My 2005 F-150 is havingthe same problems & showing the engine light

  • Pyman Stratgeem March 15, 2012, 9:00 pm

Yeah, this keeps happening to me, but my dealer can’t fix it for me. Im glad someone is doing something about it.

  • Tom March 16, 2012, 9:34 am

My “new model” 2004 F-150 has the same problem. It sounds like it wants to cut off and I would be driving along and it will suddenly buck two or three times and then be fine for a while and then do it again. I would love to be included in this class action suit. I try to take good care of this truck but because of this I am ready to trade it in, wasn’t sure what was causing the issue and dealer said they could find nothing. My engine light has not come on at all though. The symptoms they describe seem to fit perfectly with whats going on with mine.

  • Jim Furr March 16, 2012, 3:16 pm

Count me in. I have an 06 450 dump bed that I have spent upwards of 14,000 to repair and now I am stuck with this junk as no one will buy it. Thank you Ford, now I remember why I like Chevy’s.

  • glenn perrillo March 16, 2012, 9:10 pm

I have both the 04 F150 and 05 Mustang, due to the fact we are both retired we do not put very much miliage on our vechicles.
They are both very low milage but, due expect to have some problems as they age. Can you please send more information..

Since than i have replaced this inline filter 4 times after it quit 4 times along the road. I have saved all 4 of these filters in case someone needs them. These filters are clear and you can see all the liner material in them.

  • ric stuber March 19, 2012, 11:53 am

So this is why I get 8mpg and I have delayed in starting the engine I thought I had either a flat spot in the starter or weak battery include me in this action

  • Mary Anne March 28, 2012, 4:52 pm

1st fuel replacement, because of clogging! Second transmission. Huh!

  • Bill March 29, 2012, 3:57 pm

I have a 2002 F150 and my gas tank actually fell off. Now I am getting the run around. Stoenham Ford replaced the straps but it still leaks. I will be lucky if my truck doesn’t catch on fire. Could I also be included in this class action suit?

  • Marcy April 2, 2012, 5:14 pm

Three for three so far, have a few more trucks and tanks to go. I have had the exact problems with the aforementioned article. I spent at least 15000.00 so far, with another bill today for 2500.00. I have all records and need to be included in the suit.

  • Dawn April 24, 2012, 1:24 pm

My husband and I have a 2008 F350 Super Duty with 120,000 we bought used in August 2011. The engine light came on in October (after the 1250 mile/45 day warranty was up) and the code that showed stated there was debrie in the fuel tank and the truck would buck and lose power momentarily The Ford dealer we took it to wanted to replace the entire fuel system and charge us $8000. I don’t have $8000 so we haven’t done anything yet, after we got the truck back it seemed fine but now engine light back on and all happening again. Ford will not cover, four different attorneys in MD said they could not do anything because of the mileage. I would like to be included in this lawsuit if I can.

  • Maggie May 4, 2012, 11:32 am

My husband’s 2008 F-350 has had very similar issues. They want to charge him $16,000 to repair his engine because fuel got into a cylinder. Ford, after forcing my husband to pay $2500 just have the diagnostic test to prove this, has been absolutely unapoligetic, stating it is not part of his warrenty… basically, sorry about your luck. Please, how do we get to be apart of this lawsuit? Ford needs to pay up for their mistake.

I have an E-350 that I am having the same bucking from as well, if I am traveling along and go around a right hand bend or are going up grade,
my E-350 starts to miss and buck as describe by everyone else. I removed the fuel filter and replaced it ( I still have it) and it is full of rusted gas. I took the van to Ford in 2011 to have all of my spark plugs
replaced, paid ford and got my van back, the van ran Ok for about seven months, and the missing started again. I was going to take the van back to ford for repair, but I first wanted to know they had replaced all of my spark plugs. I brought a set of spark plugs from Advance auto and replaced them myself. Ford only replaced two plugs and left all of the other old plugs in, and I paid for all of the plugs to be replaced. I am so sad about this, because I have only brought ford cars and trucks over the last 31yrs.
I want want my van repaired as well, can I be part of this lawsuit.

  • Roy Burger May 9, 2012, 1:56 pm

I own a 2003 F-350 Ford diesel pick up truck and I’ve been having trash in the fuel system for months. I’ve been stranded on the side of the road 25-30 times. I’ve changed both filters 5 different times. I’ve even taken the fuel tank off and cleaned it twice. I blew out all the lines and put new filters on each time. Two days later, having the same problems. It quits while driving down the road. It bucks and spudders something awful and loses power. I’m tired of getting the run around about this problem. Please count me in on this lawsuit.

    Respectfully,
    Roy Burger

  • Barry Thomson May 11, 2012, 6:36 am

Started having power problems. Had to replace several parts and found the tank lining particles in the fuel filter. With these vehicles it seems that this material travels through the system and destroys many other parts, most of wich are not covered under the warranty. There many other faults with the design of the 6.0 motor, do your research on how to prevent some of the damage. I really liked Ford until I saw how they are handling the problems with these vehicles.

  • James Blevins May 21, 2012, 5:23 pm

I don’t know if I am even elegible for the suit but I bought my son a 2007 F250 Diesel (off a car lot) and paid top dollar according to NADA(which was a TOTAL lie) I have put $3100 in it since I bought it 4 months ago and now need another $1100. I can’t even get an offer on it let alone “half” of what I have in it and it SITS now, not running.

  • Dixie Safe & Lock Serv. Inc. June 18, 2012, 9:49 am

We have 4 2006 and 2007 Ford E-350’s and 2 2008 Ford E-350’s with this same fuel problem. We would like to be included in this lawsuit.

I have a 2008 F-350, stranded me on side of road, shop replaced high pressure fuel pump, and #7 injector ($3600). 3 months later, truck in shop again, currently. I will find out this week what problem is once they finish the complete engine tear down. I am having alot of pinging, and engine misfire, shop says they feel engine may be shot, requiring new engine ($13000.00). I would definitely like more information, on this or any other suits for reimbursement.

  • micheal,repoyo July 19, 2012, 10:06 am

But the gas tank has more rust on it then car in the junk cars sitting for twenty years old.Dunphy Ford Service writer told me that’s normal for rust on all gas tanks really.I have 1989 E-350 with a 30 gallon tank no rust on tank.Make you wonder where these gas tanks are made. Please add me to the- ( Case Action Lawsuit Please )-John Morell

I owned a 2004 f150 with constant fuel problems that Ford service kept working on to no avail, finally I traded for a 2007 f150 because they said they fixed all the fuel issues. Same problems as the 2004 with no explanations just excuses. My brother works at Ford so we get the employee discount thats why I bought the same piece of crap.

  • F.J. Chuck Palumbo December 21, 2012, 2:08 pm

  • Pam February 27, 2013, 8:28 am

I also have 3 e350 diesel 6litters. I have had nothing but problems and bill in the up wards of 3500.00 for each truck . Everything from o rings eag values filters inside of the engine that they had to tear the whole truck engine apart and the newest is a blown engine with no warning and to find out after only owning it for 3 months that the previous owner had a fire inside the dog box and everything in it is melted and destroyed. Ford sued Navistar and won 435 million dollars where the hell is it!!??? I gues when your the president of the company making over 2 million just in salary not including any of the bonus or share profit you don’t care. Ford received money because of the faulty engine design and npknew it was a major problem even before they ever put it on the line. Ford needs to standing behind the people that in good faith purchased these pieces of shit and do something for the people. I can tell you I will never put another ford vehicle on my property for personnel or for my business.

I have just had the same issues – I own a 2003 Ford GT Mustang. I just bought it 3 months ago with only 21,000 miles on it. It was acting funny and sluggish and I took it in & they replaced the fuel filter & within two weeks it did the same thing only worse this time, it completely stopped running.
The fuel pump system had to be completely replaced again along with the gas tank. It had completely de-laminated. It’s been $1,100.00. in repairs.

Did not know about any of this until I purchased this 07 f-650. Have only had good things to say about FMCO until this.

A trip to the shop, an 8900 dollar estimate. WOW. What a piece of crap. I certainly would not own up to it either Ford

  • Ed Bandenburg September 2, 2013, 9:35 am

My mechanic started seeing tank coating flakes in the fuel filters on my Ford F-350 Super Duty dump truck and informed me about Fords fuel tank delamination problem. I called my Ford dealer and they informed me that it wasn’t their problem because of low sulfur diesel fuel. They said their recommended fix was a third fuel filter. I didn’t think that fix would be sufficient since flow could still be interrupted in the sending unit causing the injectors eventually to not get sufficient fuel and be destroyed. I bought a Titan tank for $800 and had it installed for $300. Everything is fine again and I surely took this corrective measure before things started clogging up. I would like to be reimbursed for all my expenses with this class action lawsuit. Please inform me on how to join.

I have a 2008 f350 I don’t have the oil in fuel problem but I have changed my radiator two times since I have had it and its leaking again. I called the dealer I purchased it from and talked to service about it they said there was nothing they could do. I have read on forums about other people having the same problem. I didn’t know if it is something that could be looked into.

  • stacy shurtliff December 22, 2013, 12:22 pm

We just purchased an 06 f350 4wd crewcab long bed. Constantly have waterin fuel light flashing, drain it and have flat chunck size all the way down to small flakes. Changed the frame rail filter and had bigger flakes. We are a family with horses as our 15 yr old barrelraces. If we were to end up stranded we COULDNT BE TOWED!!! ITS a huge ins risk for tow truck to hook up with livestock. On top of liv8ng in snow country. So this ‘Flaking’ issue truly has the ability to physically harm this family at least. At this pointand time the truck runs semi decent but to change filters every 2 months is pricey!!! We would liketo be a partof the is class action lawsuit!

I have a 2004 E-350 SD Diesel that is doing the same thing. I’ve experienced loss of power on the highway (huge safety issue) and at times would not start. I have changed the fuel filters and saw the silver flakes in the line. INCLUDE ME IN THE LAWSUIT if not too late.

  • Ross Davis February 4, 2014, 7:15 pm

I have a 04 F550 and having the same issues the tank is coming apart on the inside and clogged up my entire fuel system! add me ASAP!!

  • Ron Hester February 7, 2014, 12:49 pm

We have a 2004 F-450. We were warned several months ago that the tank lamination was beginning to fail. I had never heard of such a thing. Neither had the service rep at the Ford dealer. We were encouraged to change the tank then. We were low on funds so we elected to put off the repair. Now we are really having issues. Replaced both filters twice each day for the last two days. Pricey filters! And costing us even more in labor that we can’t charge to our customers. Really frustrating. Include us in this lawsuit if not to late.
    Thank you

  • James T. Briscoe Sr. February 25, 2014, 7:14 am

I bought 2006 Ford F450XLT 4door I spent $60,000. To date I have spend over $7,650 for repairs because of defect in the fuel tank. Ford paid part of the first bill for the defected fuel tank. Now the problem is back again for the third time. I think FORD should pay!!!!! The vehicle has less then 40,000 miles.

  • Jerry Townsend March 1, 2014, 2:36 pm

  • Chuck Kunesh May 7, 2014, 3:08 am

Bought a 2002 F550 7.3 TD new for landscape business after dealing with older rigs for years. My excitement was short lived. Troubles started at about 30,000 miles. local dealer was good at the time and took care of the blown heater core that instantly filled cab with steam while driving on freeway at night in the rain in traffic. Near 60,000 mi. it happened again. I questioned this heavily and was told that a ground strap would solve the electrolysis issue. Still under warranty, dealer took care of it. Rough running issues were solved with new filters. Hard starts with ether, and making sure it was plugged in. About 96,000 mi. filters didn’t do the trick. Took it in and the dealer replaced the turbo and the filter… under the warranty. Ran ok with filter changes, till the warranty was up. Injectors, filters, lost another turbo(is that related to this problem with the fuel…I don’t know but guessing that the added strain could be a contributing factor) Lost an injector sleeve that caused fuel coolant mix. (is this from clogged injector?) Had been dealing with a local diesel shop that has a good reputation…but didn’t get a good fix for my $2500.00 upper budget repair limit. …and no info on fuel tank other than my fuel was contaminated. Took it to the dealer for a diagnostic at about 125,000. Was told there was no compression in #4 and #8 and the laundry list went on… bottom line was that for $11,800 they could install a new engine with a new 100,000 mi warranty and did I want to make an appointment. The guy thought it was funny as I was pretty sure I had just crapped my heart. I refuse to go back to ford for anything. This is my 7th ford. I am a family man. I’m a small business, I cant afford all this down time. Pretty sure I was better off in my 1970 C-30 Chevy with glass packs that my customers could hear 3 blocks away. The whole thing is sad. We have been hosed by one of America’s “GREAT” companies. It’s no surprise that they are hiding from this till someone pops the hood in traffic and gets killed. It has likely already happened to someone. It was just last week I heard about a diesel shop that was said to be the best in the west. They told me about the widespread tank problem and the my engine does not need to be replaced, but that I need a tank, injectors, sleeves, sensors, exhaust and turbo piping from rattling itself apart. when I get it back I’ll be near 7K in the hole (parts, labor and downtime) and maybe I’ll be able to set my coffee down at idle.
You guessed it …I’m in. please keep me posted.

  • vern borkholder June 27, 2014, 8:48 pm

  • Chris July 11, 2014, 11:47 am

2007 E450 Utility Truck Diesel. Truck cost me 45000. Now they are saying the tank is rusting/contaminated, and they need to put a new tank, fuel pump in. BEFORE they find out if the injectors and turbo is messed up. $3700.00 before I even know what else I will have to do. ADD ME TO THE SUIT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • David July 25, 2014, 1:19 pm

I own a 2000 F350 SD Crew long bed. Just spent $3800.00 for a new fuel tank and 3 new injectors due to fuel tank delamination. I also have a 2004 Excusion that I missed there class action suit on. I am not going to miss this one. Please add me. I have spent >10k on these to truck this year. I am not spending another dime for their mistakes.

  • WL Caldwell July 26, 2014, 7:40 am

’08 F250 SD, mileage 109000. Cost over 12k for HPFP, injectors, fuel system cleanout, etc. Dealer polite, unsupportive. Ford denied any responsibility twice. After buying 5 Ford trucks and Lincoln vehicle, I am going back to GM.

  • Peter R. Paul July 28, 2014, 10:07 pm

Bought a new 2005 f-350 in 2006. I have 55thousand miles on the truck. Local ford dealer replaced two injectors in may at cost of 800.00. Less than thousand miles later truck quit on side of road. Hauled back to same ford dealer (Sloan Ford in Columbia Tn.) and informed fuel tank is delaminating. What!! Needs new fuel tank, lines, fuel pump, and 8 injectors because fuel is contaminated. Ford is at fault and I want to join lawsuit.

  • Matt Norris August 21, 2014, 8:58 am

I Have a 20o2 f350 utility truck just changed out the pump on the rail under drive seat to find flakes from the tank packed inside of pump. I am also changing the tank. I am hoping that, I am catching this before it hits my injectors. Ford is very aware of the situation salesman form Reno says they are selling at least 2 tanks a month and of course it’s not there problem. I would also like to be added to the class action lawsuit.

  • Robert m Lorenzo August 28, 2014, 5:25 am

How do I join the class action suite against ford for fuel tank promblem I’m out over. $ 6000.00 dollars in Repairs caused by the defected tanks.

  • Larry Brewer September 5, 2014, 4:27 pm

    FORD is clearly at fault.

  • Bill Fox September 11, 2014, 5:50 pm

I own a 2006 f450 super duty truck just started running rough so i changed fuel filters and found filter with coating of white looking flakes. put new filters in truck ran for a day then back to same problem so i pulled the fuel tank and found it full of that same white flakes and sand. local ford deal wanted 1400.00 for new tank but at this time there is no way I will buy anything from ford. Found a replacement tank on line for 1200.00 if that fixes the problem truck will be sold and I will never buy another ford of any kind. COUNT ME IN ON THE LAW SUIT!!!

  • Sheri McLa,ughlin September 23, 2014, 1:13 pm

Went over a speed bump in parking lot; since then no power, hundreds of dollars probably going to lead to thousands from everything I’ve seen on this forum. Mine is 2006 E250
with 60,000. No check engine lights, no power, rough idle. Please include me in this for possible recall purposes. Thank you.

  • Daniel mcleod December 14, 2014, 12:26 pm

I agree as a owner who has to get 9k to get my 2008 f350 out of the dealership for the same problem. Been a loyal ford owner for 30 years…no more ford…shame and doom on you

  • Vinny Pontry January 26, 2015, 8:45 pm

IM having the same problems I have a 2004 ford e450 I had to replace the fuel pump 6 times, the gas tank has been leaking for years I keep fixing it but then more leaks start. My dealer told me they have never seen a tank leak. My ass they know that these tanks are bad. It has cost me well over 10,000 dollars since I bought the truck what a piece of crap. If anyone can help me please let me know.

  • Cynthia Keen January 28, 2015, 2:00 am

Just purchased an 08 F350 in Nov. 2014. Wow, I wish I would have googled the make and model. Mine is in the shop now, paid $1100.00 to clean out fuel tank, flush lines, and replace fuel filter; picked it up after repairs and didn’t even make it home. They had to pick it up and take it back. Ford says they are not responsible, unbelievable!!! If it’s the fuel, how come Chevy and Dodge aren’t having issues? Maybe Ford decided to cut some cost and bought cheap tanks.
I have been die hard Ford all my life, my husband, my son, my daughter, and myself all drive Fords. I don’t have bunches of money laying around, so if they do not stand up and take responsibility for their mistakes, I will never buy or support Ford again. I want to be part of this lawsuit.

  • Jereld Bunzey March 7, 2015, 9:21 am

Have ongoing problems with my 2002 E350 super duty 7.3 diesel. Had a dealer clean out the tank $400. Then at another dealer had to replace the pump $600 now I had to cut a hole in the floor in my van so while on the road I can clean out the fuel sock myself also installed a filter between the tank and the electronic pump . Have invested over $1500 so far. I also have 2 other diesel vans and had to change the tanks and pumps on them too. 95 and a 98 7.3. Need some relief for an obvious screw up on ford’s part.

  • brenda stone March 17, 2015, 2:13 pm

I have a 1999 f350 dump bed and it is doing the same thing. How do you get added t teh lawsuit? is it too late?

  • James Baltimore March 22, 2015, 8:26 am

I have an 06, F 350 diesel. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filters and injectors twice. Now I’m replacing fuel filter every two weeks and now being told that my fuel tank is flaking and needs to be replaced. Add me to this Class Action lawsuit! I bought an extended warranty from ford extending me to 200k and none of these repairs are covered.

  • Christopher Riccardi March 26, 2015, 7:58 pm

I have an 06 F550 with 61,000 miles on it and now this fuel tank problem.
How can Ford put out such a poorly built truck & not fix the known problems is beyond me. Include me in this class action.
