2007 & 2008 Chevrolet Impala Purchasers & Lessors File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against General Motors GM Over Allegedly Defective Rear Spindle Rods.
A class action lawsuit has been filed against General Motors Company (“General Motors” or “GM” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (styled Donna M. Trusky v. General Motors Company, Class Action Case No. 2:11-cv-12815-SFC-LJM) alleging, among other things, that General Motors or GM sold model year 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impalas with defective rear spindle rods that allegedly caused and continue to cause wheel misalignment and premature tire wear, according to the General Motors GM 2007 & 2008 Chevrolet Impala Rear Spindle Rods, Wheel Alignment & Tire Wear class action lawsuit complaint.
The General Motors GM 2007 & 2008 Chevrolet Impala Rear Spindle Rods, Wheel Alignment & Tire Wear class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following putative class of persons, unless otherwise excluded:
All persons in the United States who purchased or leased a model year 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impala (the “Class”).”

I want to join this law suit I was wondering why my wifes tires wore out so fast.
I do also, our tires wore out at 24,000 miles. We had to buy new tires and have the car realigned. This is total bs.
You can contact Philadelphia attorney John Macoretta, who is handling the class action lawsuit. Phone: 215-496-0300. Fax: 215-496-6611. Also, file a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The rear wheel spindle rod is defective and needs to be port of a recall.
The full text of the lawsuit is an eye opener. It can be found at

Thank You for the info on this lawsuite my car was an accident waiting to happen!
I have a 2007 chevy impala. I have spent 100s on tires that wore out prematurely. I have argued with the tire dealers about selling defective tires not knowing it was my car all along.
I purchased another set of tires because of the wearing of the tires I bought about a year ago, so about six months ago I purchased another set of tires, about four months ago I had to purchase another tire to replace one on the back because of the wearing and at that time I learned I needed an alignment. So I have bought 2 sets of tires and one extra tire in about two years!
I bought this car brand new and I take care of it! I need to get a refund of the money I have spent on tires for this car! This is frustrating, and I do not think I will by another GM car!
I have a 2009 Chevrolet Impala with 26,000 miles. I bought the car as a GM Program car with 14,000 miles. I have had the car aligned 3 times since I bought it in Feb 10, and the tires rotated every 6000 miles or less. The Goodyear tires wore out on the inside 1/2 tread to the sedn layer of rubber, and all had to be replaced. I believe this problems continues with the 2009 model year.
My 2009 Impala has a little over 41,000 miles. I am going on my 4th set of tires due to the premature tire wear. We have run into nothing but problems with the dealership where we bought the car. We have contacted GM many times and it just gets swept under the road. We were told by Gattos that we needed a cambolt for the alignment. Contacted GM and the dealer about it and they blew us off. I would hope to get the lawsuit extended out for the 2009 Impalas as well because the 2009’s were made with the same parts as the 2008’s and is no different. Funny how the police cars get fixed but not the general public’s.
I would like to join this class action law suit. The front tires wear out fast enough with front wheel drive. Tires are the most expensive maintenance items on a car.
I am joining this lawsuit because I had purchased an 2007 impala and my tires failed me they were defective and I got into a accident because of it.
I reallt want to join this lawsuit as well. I bought my 2007 Impala brand new in 2006. Not only do my tires wear down quickly but, I also have a thumping and/or clicking noise coming from them. That noise is still there even when it’s a brand new tire.
I have a 2007 Impala. At <35,000 miles, I had to replace the tires (with Goodyears). Now at <65,000 I have to replace them again. The thumping noise and loud road noise are ever-present too. One mechanic thought it might be the struts and/or alignment.
In contrast, when I drove my 2004 Impala, a set of tires lasted me over 80,000 miles.
I owned a 2007 Impala SS. The original Goodyear tires wore out in 38K miles. When I went to Discount Tire, they told me those type of tires were just that way. I had rotated and balanced the tires every 5K miles. I then bought a complete new set of tires, which I paid over $800 for. After driving about 11K more miles, I started hearing a roaring noise from the rear of the car. Guess what the rear tires were worn down to the botton of the tread on the inside of them. I took the car to my Chevrolet dealer, after doing research on the internet and finding that they were fixing police cars, that were having this problem. They told me it was caused on police cars because they carried so much heavy equipment in their trunks. Then they told me I need a four wheel alignment, which I had to pay for and also replaced the two rear tires. After all this hassle and the dealer refusing to fix my car under warranty, I went to my local Ford dealer and bought a new Ford. I will never buy another GM car, thanks to the way they handled my problem. I don’t know how to get into this class action suit, but if someone would let me know, I will definitely put my 2 cents into it.
How do I get my name on the suit against GM? I have the affected Impala and it has cost me over $600.00 in tires and alignments in only 27000 miles.
Where do I sign, having same problem with back tires of 08 Impala.
I am thrilled about this lawsuit. I just put new tires on my mother’s 07 Impala last Friday for the 3rd time in 40,000 miles, and had it aligned 3 times, and it still chews up the inside of the rear tires and the tires become scalloped and cupped. I’m glad I’ve kept notice of this because the tires would be threw the cords and blowout in 20,000 miles of they weren’t rotated and maintained.
I need to no who to contact and whats there email address , i just had all the tires replaced and i rotated my tires every 3000 miles, they where all worn out on the inside, the car and tires where bought new, how can i join this lawsuit? haroldijr@bellsouth.net
I have a 2007 Chevy Impala and am on my 3rd set of tires and several all wheel & front wheel allingments/rotations. It is nice to know that it is just not our vehicle & that the word is getting out that this is a huge problem.. The next time the Impala needs tires replaced etc… I am going back to the dealer and having it fixed at no charge. It would be nice to get my money back from all the past expenses.
I also would like to join this class action lawsuit, where and how do i join?
I have noticed that my rear tires are wearing out much faster than the front tires that hardly show any wear on my 2008 Chevrolet Impala which has only 16533 miles. I love my car but hope that GM will take care of this problem in the same way that they took care of Police Departments cars as reported in the Long Island Newsday July 6 2011.
EXACTLY….. they did fix all Policing vehicles but have chosen to “spin off” the rest of us. That alone is bound to be some type of bias decision, why? Is society not as important to the income of Chevy Dealerships?
How do I join this class action lawsuit ??????
Good Luck Impala owners…. I hope Chevrolet decides on a recall, and fixes the spindle problem before it results in some fatalities… But, knowing GM, I wouldn’t bet on it!! 🙁 🙁
We have also had to replace our tires. We had the car aligned, too. I think we bought a lemon.
I have a 2008 Impala that I bought brand new. I have been through numerous tires and now we finally have an answer. GM needs to correct this problem. FIX IT GM!!!!
I leased a 2008 Impala in 2007 and have invested in 3 sets of tires one set, top of the line Michelin tires that lasted ONE year w/two alignments during that time. I have had my vehicle aligned so much I have purchased an alignment package. I’ve inquired with a number of dealerships and business who perform alignments they all say the same thing, “it’s a defect with the car” these alignments can’t even be rolled back to “zero”. My Lease is up in August and I love my vehicle but sick of the money wasted on tires!! Wake up Chevrolet this is why we buy FOREIGN vehicles. Back your products up!! On a side bar….. I work for the gov’t and we “had” 43 Impala at my office alone – we’ve gotten rid of them ALL as well. . .
We are definitely in support of this lawsuit, and would be included, as owners of a 2007 Impala, which we purchased new in June of 2007. We now over 70,000 miles on the car. We had to replace the two rear tires the first time with only 16, 500 and have had to do the same thing two more times, at 35,000 and 53,000. We have rotated the tires regularly and paid for alignments twice yearly. We have been told we needed to align it more often, that we needed another brand of tire, etc., but never been told about the rear spindle rod problem. As a result of this problem and the unwillingness to recall these automobiles to repair them, this will probably be the last GM car we purchase.
I have a 2007 Impala. I’ve owned it since 2007 and I have had to put new tires on the rear every few months. I love the car but this is something I think GM should stand behind
Yes, please add me to the law suit – It is not fair to fix the police cars but not even notify other owners of 2007 Chevy Impalas – last GM car for me too! : (
I have never owned any other car except a chevy.I have a 2008 impala with 17,500 miles on it.The tires are showing extreme signs of wear at this low mileage. If they do not make good on this I will never buy another one. Will try ford taurus next. J.Houston
sept 12,2011 Went to the dealership I bought the 2008 chevy impala from today. I asked them about changing the spindle rods on the car which is still under warrenty. They said they didnt know what I was taking about and was not sure what a spindle rod was. also told me police cars have a different package thats why theirs were changed. Please add my name to the class action law suit. I am outraged and disappointed.
I have a 2008 impala LTZ and we are on our third set of tires. The two sets I purchased cost me over two thousand dollars. Yes, Iwant to be included in this law suit. Where do we sign?
I got a 2008 LTZ, brand new back in late 2007, same thing only 23000
miles and tires are junk!….i wonder how long this will take to settle?…this sucks!…to get the same tires I was quoted $250.00 ea. and them I’ll have to get align on top of that!
Have a 2007 Impala, and just had to purchase my 3rd set of tires at around 100K for the car. I have had several alignment issues, always with the rear, that I have spend a lot of money fixing, and this time was no different. This last set of tires lasted me around 40,000 miles, and there was severe wear on the rear pair only, down to the cord. Each time the dealership blames it on me hitting potholes, which I do not. My bill this past time was $1100 for tires, alignment and other issues with the rear bearings.
Other than the alignment and tires, the car has actually been great. However, as a car guy, I have always known there was an issue with the alignment with this car but could never convince my guys at the dealership.
If someone can post how owners can join this class action suit, can you please post it here? Thank you!!
I would like to added to this lawsuit. I have a 2008 Chevy Impala and I’m experiencing this same issue.
I feel that the repairs need to be done on General Motors expense. The customer should not be held liable for these repairs.
Boy I’m glad I found out that it is the car itself and not the tires and the lame excuses from my dealer. In answer to the question “how do I join this suit” here is what I found on the subject of class actions on general:
“……How do I join a class action?
A. Generally, before a court certifies a class action, it must conclude that there are too many class members for them all to be named as parties in the lawsuit. Technically, class members do not “join” into the litigation, but decide to participate by not “opting-out.” It is only in rare instances when a suit is filed as an “opt-in” class action. In those rare instances, a claim form or request to join form may be necessary. Ordinarily, the notice issued to class members in the usual suit for compensatory damages will tell the class if they need to take any action to participate. In a suit for compensatory damages, any class member who does not “opt-out” may be bound by the results of the litigation if it proceeds as a class action. If a class member should determine, however, that he wants to participate in the suit as a named party, he may hire his own lawyer and seek to intervene (participate) in the lawsuit……”
I have a 2008 impala and I feel like I am buying tires every 6 months. I will like to join the class action lawsuit. How can I join. please email me back.
i have a chevy 2007 impala ,i only have it for 10 months, i never checked the tires for wear ,but i did have it rotated once ,the problem i am having is the car wont stay straight on the road it keeps pulling to the left ,and when i get the car straight on the road the steering wheel is tilted to the left.
We own a 2008 Impala and have had to replace tires prematurely – first the rear tires and then the front. We, too, tried to blame it on a bad set of tires. Would like to join the class action lawsuit and have GM Motors repair and refund money for tires.
My 2007 Buick Lacrosse has the same problem. Have had it back to the dealer a half dozen times, could never correct the problem. Sounds like the same parts were used on my car
I do too want to join this lawsuit. Pls e mail me at wb.pistons109@yahoo.com
I have gone thru 3 set of tires. My girlfriends also had an fight with a tire dealer due to what she thought was defective tires.
I have s 2007 impala. I had to replace all tires with.less than 23000 miles
I am from Canada but have the same issues, just purchased 4 new tires and had full alignment done at 45000KM. If you hear of a law suit going in Canada let me know.
Also from canada with tire problems,we are just over 87000 km and looking at our second set of tires.Been looking for a Canadian website for auto complaints, they all seemed to lumped into the USA complaints
i,m sick of buying tires i want gm to fix their problem
how do i get envolved
a very un happy 07 implala owner
My Impala rear tires wore through to the metal cords in 22,00 miles. At a Cadilac dealership in Sebring, Fla. I spent $$$ to have the rear brackets remachined to allow alignment. I the subsequent two years I have realigned the four wheels three more timesand worn the tires to where the wife had to sign a release at Walmart to have them rotated. The dealership had computor images from GM showing how to machine the slots to accomplish the alignment. No wonder americans are buying China and Japans vehicles, OUR OWN ARE JUNK. DES
I had to replace all four tires on my 2007 chevy and front end aloned.
It started with a noise in the right rear that keep getting worse
I have a 2008 Chevy Impala with around 54,000 miles on it. It has been maintained regularly, and had the tires rotated often. Since we got it around 48,000 miles from my sister-in-law it has been fine until we recently went on a car trip. Then suddenly the car started to wobble and we realized something was wrong. Now we are 3 states away from home and have to have our car serviced for this problem. This is definitely an unexpected, and unhappy, expense that we didn’t bargain for on our trip. I certainly hope that the lawsuit forces GM to recall the vehicles and fix them. I am disabled and live on a fixed income. These types of expensive and unexpected repairs are something that I just cannot afford.
Well I took care of my problem! I was a owner of a 2008 Impala LTZ, but last Friday I traded it in for a new Dogde Challenger!…No more GM’s for me!….even if this lawsuit starts a recall, it would be a year or more before we get taken care? I wasn’t about to spend $1,500.00 on tires after 23,000 miles on the OEM tires just to take a chance of them going bad again!…I was always a GM man all my life, but this is where I
stop!
I wondered why the tires were worn so fast. I have a 2007, had to spend $500 to replace tires at 23, 000 miles only 2 years ago and just had to replace two tires a month ago! The other two are ready to be replaced too. What can anyone tell me about the spindle rods being replace and any reimbursement for tires I should NOT of had to replace??
I have had the same problem with my 2008 lease Impala. Had no idea that the problem was in the vehicle. I though it was just cheep tires. Count me in.
My girlfriend has a 2007 Impala and she has to replace the tires often. The last time she took it to get new tires, the mechanic told her she had a “bent rear axle”.The car only has 50,000 miles and it seems like everything is breaking.I will NEVER buy a GM vehicle again!! She is trying to find out how to get included in the lawsuit..

I would like to join this class action lawsuit
I would also like to join this class action lawsuit. My 2008 Impala’s tires wore out at 31,000 miles and I had to get an all-wheel alignment. The tires were bald on the inside and outside of the tires.
How do I join this lawsuit? I’m on my 4th set of tires in 3 years on my 2007 Impala. This is absolutely shameful of GM not to recall a known defect!!!!
I have a 2007 with the same issue. First set of tires lasted 40, 000 miles with no abnormal tread wear. Second set of Goodyears has only 15,000 miles on them, have been rotated, and are showing major wear on inside of tread, just like all the other complaints. It appears that the major wear on the rears has come in the last 6,000 miles. It’s due for a rotation now, but no way can that happen. It’s in the shop right now. The dealer has the Forbes article on this issue, and he’s going to see what GM will do. I should know before the day is over 8/8/2011.
I have had my 2007 Impala LTZ since april last year. I bought brand new tires for $600 Goodyear MaxFuel. 1 year 4 months 15,000 miles later, tread is showing trough the inside rear tires. These tires lifespan were warranted up to 60,000 miles.
I purchased a 2008 Impala from a Sikeston Missouri dealership. I asked the dealership to purchase the new tires due to the warranty. I was laughed right off the parking lot. Now we find out about the class action suit. I again return to the dealership and they tell me that if I would have put their tires on the car that they would be more than happy to refund my money, but since I went somewhere else, tough.
They stood there and watched me put my three children, one of them in a carseat at the time. I just grimace everytime I think about what could have happened. They still won’t fix my car.
Can anyone tell me how to join the class action suit?

I bought my 2007 Impala new and have had nothing but trouble with the rear tires wearing out. How can I join this class action suit?
I just had my 2008 impala in the service garage where i bought my car for rear alignment of my tires whiich had worn down on both the inside and outside and had to pay 219.23 only because the dealer was good enough to pay for one of the tires.
Im also having the same problems and im very disappointef in chevy for this if anyone knows the attorney named that filed this complaint please post it becausr i am going to join this lawsuit chevy knowd theres something wrong but they dont wanna own up so please post the lawyers info
I would like to join the lawsuit as well. I am getting ready to pay for my 4th set of tires in 3 yrs amd the car only has 42,000 miles on it . We first noticed it when I took the car in for an oil change around the 15,000 range and the inside of the tires were bald and the steel was showing through on the factory tires. I told the service guy that that wasnt right and he says to me “we dont warrany tires” I just learned of the lawsuit when its now time for my 4the set of tires!!!!! I went to a local chevy dealer to have the problem diagnosised and they told me the problem and said to call GM assistance to see if they will help me in the repairs after loosing a whole day off work they said it was a maintence issue and they would not help me. Did I forget to mention that a GM cerified mechinanic told me the diagnosis was from the rear spindle rod – the rear spindle rod needs to be replaced because if not you can have the car aligned 100 times and the tires rotated and it wont help unless the rods are replaced !!!!!!! GM has terrible customer service!!!! Just fix the the problem that you already knows exsists GM !!!!!!!
I would like to be included in this lawsuit since I had to have my car aligned and rear struts modified by the Chevy dealer when the car only had 55,000 miles on it. They had to modify the strut alignment holes just to get it to align properly that tells me another part is the culprit and this was a band aid repair. I put new tires on at that time and they will probably only last 40,000 miles when they are an 80,oo0 mile tire. I also have a vibration to this day when driving 50mph that goes away after 70mph. Something is still wrong with the car but every dealer tells me its normal. How can they build a car that is this new that I had to replace a steering shaft, had flickering headlights and ridiculous poor alignment and vibration issues before it even hit 50,000 miles. I love my Impala I just wish they would acknowledge the problems and fix them.
i have 2008 ltz and have had 3 sets of tires on my 4th in 68,000 miles. How do i join law suit?
In July 2010 I spent $1,000 to have my 2008 Impala’s rear spindle rod repaired, 4 brand new tires, and the fuel sensor repaired. The car unfortunately was out of warranty by a couple thousand miles. Then I read where GM knew about the problem, was willing to fix law enforcement Impala’s, but not the general public? Does GM believe that the rest of us who have this problem will ever purchase another GM vehicle again if this problem is not fixed and/or our money reimbursed for fixing a faulty car? GM needs to think again. How do I join the class action law suit?
IN TODAY’S NEWS…GM CLAIMS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR “OLD GM”…THIS IS GARBAGE. TELL ME “NEW GM”…IS THE BOWTIE EMBLEM YOURS OR NOT? MY LAST GM!! FORD OR CHRYSLER FROM NOW ON!!
Last Updated: August 17. 2011 4:07PM .GM: Bankruptcy should bar Impala suit
David Shepardson/ Detroit News Washington Bureau
Washington – General Motors Co. says a class-action suit complaining that GM fixed rear-end problems on police versions of 2007-08 Impalas, but not those owned by some 400,000 other drivers, should be thrown out.
New GM was formed in July 2009 in a government-sponsored sale of the good assets of “old GM” out of bankruptcy as part of a $49.5 billion bailout.
The Detroit automaker said in court papers that it cannot be held liable for damages relating to vehicles produced before new GM was created.
New GM said it only agreed to warranty obligations of cars assembled before 2009. “New GM did not assume liability for old GM’s design choices, conduct or alleged breaches of liability under the warranty, and its terms expressly preclude money damages,” the response says. The suit “is trying to saddle new GM with the alleged liability and conduct of old GM.”
And OLD GM went bankrupt just before checks were to be sent to consumers because of lower intake manifold problems. We had to pay out over $50o. EACH for replacement of the lower intake manifold on a Olds. Cutlass and Buick Century. Thanks a lot OLD GM. Then in 2007 I purchased a Chev. Impala LT and yes I have had a front and rear alignment and with just under 20,000 miles I need new tires even though I have kept them rotated. OLD GM did not care about their customers and now NEW GM is following suit. Why did we bail them out. It cost us taxpayers big time and they are now bragging about their amazing earnings. Someone please tell me how to be part of this lawsuit.
Count me in…..same problems.
Same problem after 23,00 miles, rear tires completly worn on inside. Since i am making payments to the new GM, and the old GM is not liable for any repair, why should I still make payment’s to a company no longer in business?
Frank
Our 2007 Impala has had a new set of tires at 40,000 miles and shows unusul wear already.
It seems GM should support this product.
That’s a good excuse GM came up with!…..the old GM….lol….I feel bad for everyone who own’s 1 of them….I’m glad I got a new dodge challenger and traded my LTZ in!….but I feel bad for they person who buys it next! 🙁 …. one less headache in my life!…i wish you all the best and hope something good comes out of this for all of you!
this site is not posting my last reply?…could be da web?….got 2 love the web!
Frank has a good point!….since old GM is longer there, why pay?…lol
Bought a new set of tires, six month later had to buy two more! Took my car to the Chevy dealership where I bought it and they did some work on the cambers and said this was a problem with Chevy Impala – didn’t do the work for free or even offer a discount and told me Chevy would not do a recall because this was not a safety issue. Now I need two more tires that were already worn when they fixed the cambers. Went to get my tires rotated at my local mechanic today and he informed me of this class action suit regarding spindle rods…so it’s not even the cambers? Wow…I would love to have the money I’ve spend on the camber work and the new tires. Chevy should have at least informed the public.
I just replaced my 2008 Impala tires at 31,000 miles and had an all-wheel alignment done because the tires were worn bald on the inside and outside edges. After that I heard a loud thumping noise and it took the dealership 12 days with my car to figure out that it was the rear passenger spindle that “was not torqued tight enough.” They did not charge me anything. I was fortunate.
Is anyone aware of a comparable Canadian Lawsuit against GM for 07 08 Impala Tire wear. We purchased a used 08 Impala in August 09 with 15000 miles on it. In October of 10 at 23500 miles it was necessary to replace the tires and acquire a four wheel alingment.
I would like to join the lawsuit. Would anyone that knows how to do so, please contact me? timaverick@twcny.rr.com
Thank you
I’ve owned/driven GM products for 40 years. Bought my 2008 Impala new. Currently has 55,500 miles on it. Just told that I need my FORTH SET OF TIRES. I’ve kept up with tire rotation, alignments, etc. but the dealer rep is convinced it’s related to Goodyear Integrity tires and *my* driving habits (like he’d know about my driving habits–I met the guy for the first time today!!)… I am NOT a happy camper. I can’t shake the feeling that I’m being lied to. What I know with 100% certainty is that this WILL BE my last GM product. Ever.
Hey “new” GM–how’s that for word of mouth advertising?
purchased a used 08 impala w/28,000 miles…three weeks later a blowout on left rear tire…tire store said tires are wore out??? bought new tires for 400 and some bucks…then heard about problems…would like to join the class action suit…jim
sir
need legal firm tele no.
look at the car adds in 2 months have only seen 1 2007 1 2008 impalas
and at cheap prices
we lost value/spent lots of money on tires/check accidents across the country i,m sure yopur gonna find injuries/deaths
g.m. is a joke
al goodwin maine
I can see the misalignment of my rear tires on my 2008 Impala LTZ parked in a parking lot or on the road. I hope GM will rectify the problem. Thank You…
I have a 2007 Chevy Impala with the same tire issues. I have put 42,000 miles on this car and have had all 4 tires replaced 4 time and have the 5th set of rear tires on it now. I rotate and balance every 3000 – 5000 miles but it doesn’t matter. We have spent thousands on tires and maintenance on this vehicle. Another class action suit should be filed concerning brake issues with this same car. I have had brakes done 4 times in the same 42,ooo miles, rotors warp and pulsate within 1000 – 2000 miles of replacing.
OLD GM did not care about their customers and now NEW GM is following suit. Why did we bail them out. It cost us taxpayers big time and they are now bragging about their amazing earnings. Someone please tell me how to be part of this lawsuit.
P.S. If again GM will not be accountable to their consumers I also am done with them!
I have had this same problem with my 2007 Impala, plus many others. This includes rotor and break wear causing unsafe braking on expressway. How can I join this lawsuit?
I am on my 2nd set of rear tires for my 2007 Chevy Impala.
GM has fixed the problem on the police cars that were bought, I think they should help us with this problem also.
i have had problems with my tires and rear end aligments..i have had my 2008 chevy implapa for about 16 months and have replaced 6 tires, and 3 rear end alignment all in 16 months..something is not right about this picture..please help
i have had problems with my tires and rear end aligments..i have had my 2008 chevy implapa for about 16 months and have replaced 6 tires, and 3 rear end alignment all in 16 months..something is not right about this picture..please help! if thers that kind of problem which gm cars, would love for someone to help pay for this,, i have spent $500.00, each time i have had to replace tires not saying anything for the aligments..
2008 impala same problem, last set of tires 11000 miles back to dealer 4 times while under warranty not fixed
I also had to replace 2 tires, pay for an alignment and new rear wheel spindle rods. My car only had 18,000 miles on it., and the dealership would not stand behind any of it. I also spent endless hours on the phone with GM, and was also told since it was not a police car, I would not be reimbursed. Ridiculous !!!!!
We own a 2007 Impala SS, so add us to the list, replaced 1st set of tires at about 20,000 miles, 2nd set about 7 months later, and 3rd set about 7 months later at about 36,000 miles, have paid for 3 alignments and 4 Camber Kits. Tires were rotated regularly and traction was terrible rain and snow, I think my husband thought I was nuts, I have complained about this car being all over the road ever since we bought it, finally he believe me. Have been GM owners since 1977, but this really makes me question what our next car will be. Recently had the spindle rods replaced hope this will take care of the problem, but really think GM owes us, they knew there was a problem and just ignored it.
I want to join this classaction I have a 2007 that has had 5 sets of tires, two alignments, 4 rotors, and now a wheel bearing.
I bought a 2007 Impala LT with 36,000 miles. The tires on it then wore out so bad at 65,000 miles that I had a flat on the freeway. I paid $450 for 80,000 mile-rated tires that are already shot. And these were rotated regularly. I also experienced several of the conditions people described above. It’s ridiculous. There is no reason a car should go through tires as if they were made of butter.
Along with many others who replied I would like to know how to join this class action. If anyone finds out, please let me know.
I have 2 07 impalas (dumb huh )..I complained to GM after my first set of tires went @ 15,000 miles. They did nothing I assumed it was because of the bankrupty. The left front drivers window leaks and and has been repaired 3 times, gave up on that. The moulding on the truck vibrates and wears the paint causing the trunk lid to rust through so I’ve been told..fixed 2 times. The remote had to be fixed, the radio didn’t work under 30 degrees and had to be re programmed. Had to take pictures of the dash to prove the RF tire sensor wasn’t working correctly, didn’t show bad on the computer. The intermediate steering shaft had to be replaced ( this has been happening to GM cars for years but they never engineered a solution to it.) At 52,000 miles now and four set of tires later bring on the lawsuit. Where do I sign up ? This is just one car and doesn’t include my wifes 07 impala. Oh yes !!! lets not forget the $2400 I shelled out for the DEXCOOL problem of the melting intake manifold gaskets on my last two chevrolets. If GM wants to get back into the car business they better put out a better product. I’ve always driven Chevrolets but at this point in time customer loyalty is going the wayside
UPDATE. Having a great dealer behind you makes a lot of difference ! Called the GM complaint line 1-800-222-1020, got a very nice person on the line and reopened another case on my car. My dealer tested the car and found that it didn’t need the bolt kit. Then why the poor mileage on tires I asked ? They are going to contact GM and let me know what they say . I think it’s a design screw up myself and the engineers messed up somewhere. They are going to install another weatherstrip on the door and also found a bad waterpump on the engine (like anything else could go wrong on this roachcoach). I have to say my dealership has been excellent through this whole ordeal and I have a lot of confidence in them. They have gone out of their way to help me out. GM is lucky to have people like this to back up their mistakes
I would like to added to this lawsuit. I have a 2008 Chevy Impala and I’m experiencing this same allignment issue. The Chevy dealership made modifications to the struts on my car to enable allignment of the rear wheels. ( Also additional charge and cost of new tires!)
Sounds like a design flaw or at least a manufacturing problem of uncontrolled stack up of tolerances. After reading the comments here I’m not sure strut modifications will fix the problem?
I too have spent a small fortune keeping tires on my car. I have had my alignment adjusted several times, replaced hubs, bushings, sway bar links, everything to no avail. Where do I sign on for this lawsuit? Chevy won’t help me at all. That’s unfortunate because I have always had Chevy blood in my veins…
I too am having the same issues as all of you are. 45,000 miles and 3 sets of tires! How do I get my name on this lawsuit? I see that asked many times on here but no reply. Whats up with that?
’08 LTZ bought it with 36,000 on it and now with 45,000 on it I’m installing my first set of tires.
Here we go!!!
I am so shocked yet happy to see this site. I thought it was just me!! I have brought tires so often, I thought it was my area rough roads. Then, the steering makes noise when you turn the wheels. I hear all of the Impalas in my town do that. How can we join this law suit? Heck, I need to join! They owe me so much money for tires and service!!
My 2007 Chevrolet impala whore out three sets of tires on the rear. This was after three rear alignements. Being a former suspension mechanic I requested copies of the alignements specs. To my amazement, GM specs set the rear wheel camber at neg 1/2 degree, this is where the tops of the tires are leaning in. Here is where the problem starts. As the suspension colapses down the negative camber increases causing the inside wear and the road noise. I insisted the dealership set the rear wheel camber to + 1/2 degree. The road noise is eliminated and I have put 12,000 miles on with no tire wear. GM owes me a lot of money for tires and alignments.
UPDATE FROM 10/15,10/18. As I expected, got the call from GM today. After all this non sense they decided to do nothing. I have all the paperwork etc and still GM did nothing and admitted nothing (like the Dexcool fantasy). This is on the shoulders of GM not my dealer. As I said before, my dealer went above and beyond to satisfy me, GM needs to put out a better product (maybe hire some foreign engineers or something). This has to be a design or engineering problem because everything was set to GM specs. THANKS again to my dealership and their people they tried every avenue possible to please me. The Gm car is an inferior product as compared to the competition, it’s no wonder they went bankrupt. The issue I have here is my own tax dollars saved a company that just turned around an stung me with my own money.
i have 2008 impala lt tires are wearing prematurely, only 55000 miles on car. bought car used with 51000 mi.tires have me upset.also how do you get access to the trunk if elecrical does not work? there is no key entry. gm has their heads up there asses.hope you lose your class ac tion lw suite, and recall all defective cars and rightfully repair your fuck ups,ASSHOLES**&&%$#@&*^%%***
was thinking on getting 2007 or 2008 but thanks people ill go get something different
How can I put my name in this issue cause we just noticed the inside of the rear tires completely worn out. We bought are 2007 Imapala SS in December 2010 with new tires an has been getting its regular services at the same dealer that we purchased it an they never caught this issue and we are still having traction control issues, wondering if the rear tires are also having something to do with it…….
I too had disappointing experiences with my 2008 Impala LTZ, I cannot afford to keep the wheels aligned and replacing the tires that wear out much too quick. Not to mention the time spent talking to dealers trying to get a satisfactory answers to correct the problem. The attitude of GM has been a real eye-opener.
Want to get in on this class action lawsuit. GM set me up with a customer service rep to help investigate my tire problems. I have spent $700.00 dollars on tires since 2008. I could not understand my service rep his english was really hard to understand. Fed up with their service I took the car for an alignment. The tire shop said he had never seen anything come off the production line so far out of alignment. My wife ran off the road last year durring a light snow storm because the car was fish tailing so bad she couldn,t keep it on the road.Anyone with information on joining the lawsuit please help if you can. Thanks
Please anyone with information how to join the law suit let me know. I have 34,000 miles on the car and have put 2 sets of tires on and the dealer Spitzer said nothing about it. Thanks.
I would like to added to this lawsuit. I have a 2008 Chevy Impala SS and I’m experiencing this same issue, among many others.
The dealership tried to sell me new tires and recommended getting an alignment the first time I noticed the issue. I’ve since replaced my tires 3 times…after knowing the Impala Police Vehicles were recalled for this issue makes it extremely frustrating!!! GM needs to make things right!
Purchased a 2007 Chevy Impala a month ago. Noticed the rear end swayed and slides to side (left or right) while driving. It was very frightening to drive on the first snow and ice…thought I would lose control. Had it looked at…just paid out $109 to have all 4 tires realigned. Was told they were badly misaligned. I just found out there’s a problem with spindle rod and GM will not fix or acknowledge. I’m pretty angry…want to join class action suit. I’m afraid to drive car this winter.
UPDATED from 10/25/2011. After all the non sense of the alignment problem with my car and GM did nothing, I took my car in for regular maintenence (oil change) the dealer found that the transmission lines were leaking ( I understand another common problem). 50,000 miles and the car is junk everything is going wrong. The dealer is trying to get help from GM…they have been great through this whole ordeal
