Hyundai Kia Gas/Fuel Mileage Rating Class Action Settlement | In re: Hyundai and Kia Fuel Economy Litigation

If you purchased or leased a certain Hyundia vehicle (Accent, Azera, Elantra, Genesis, Santa Fe, Tucson, Veloster, Sonata) or Kia vehicle (Rio, Sorento, Soul, Sportage, Optima) model years 2011, 2012 or 2013, you may be entitled to benefits from the proposed Hyundai Kia Gas/Fuel Mileage Rating class action settlement.

Hyundia Kia Class Action Lawsuit SettlementHyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America, Inc. (“Defendants”) have reportedly agreed to a proposed settlement of class action lawsuits against Hyundai and Kia in the United States District Court for the Central District of California (captioned as In re: Hyundai and Kia Fuel Economy Litigation, MDL Case No. 2424) alleging, among other things, that the prior fuel economy ratings on certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles misstated the Hyundai and Kia vehicles’ fuel economy, according to the Hyundai Kia Gas/Fuel Mileage Rating class action settlement agreement.

If approved by the Court, Hyundai Kia Gas/Fuel Mileage Rating class action settlement reportedly will cover certain 2011 through 2013 Hyundai and Kia vehicles, including the following vehicles:

  • Hyundai Accent
  • Hyundai Azera
  • Hyundai Elantra
  • Hyundai Genesis
  • Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Hyundai Veloster
  • Hyundai Sonata
  • Kia Rio
  • Kia Sorento
  • Kia Soul
  • Kia Sportage
  • Kia Optima

The proposed Hyundai Kia Gas/Fuel Mileage Rating settlement class reportedly includes, unless otherwise excluded, any current or former owner or lessee of a Class Vehicle who was the owner or lessee, on or before November 2, 2012, of such Class Vehicle that was registered in the District of Columbia or one of the fifty states of the United States.

According to Hyunaimpginfo.com, the proposed cash lump sum amount option, which varies by vehicle model and ownership type, will result in an average estimated payment of $353 to Hyundai owners and lessees, if the proposed Hyundai Kia Gas/Fuel Mileage Rating settlement is approved.

Plaintiffs’ Motion for Preliminary Approval of Class Settlement and Order Directing Notice to the Class was continued to March 24, 2014.

Yes but I sure do notice if I go to vero beach to see my doctor and start out with a full tank of gas i’ll always end up with about 2 bars coming home to Palm bay. I brought a 2013 Kia sorento vin 5xykt3467dg350536. It was advertised to get 22/29. I have it for over a year and have never got more than 16 even on the highway. The gas mileage was one of the main reason I got a Kia. I have talked with the dealer and they said I had to give it time and wanted me to buy gas at a station of their choice which I have for months to no avail. Is there a suit for 2013 kias?

I tried to join the first class action suit against Hyundai, but my 2012 Sonata was not included in that one. I’m glad that another has been opened to include my car. I’d love to know how to join this one. Anyone have any suggestions?
