Court Approves Seebrook v. The Children’s Place et al Class Action Settlement of Lawsuit Over Requesting and Recording of Personal Identification Information.
A privacy class action lawsuit against The Children’s Place Retail Stores, Inc. (“Children’s Place” or “Defendant”) has reportedly been given final court approval. The class action case, styled Seebrook v. The Children’s Place Retail Stores, Inc., Case No. 11-cv-00837-CW, was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and reportedly alleged that Children’s Place violated California Civil Code Section 1747.08 having allegedly requested and recorded Personal Identification Information such as email addresses and phone numbers from customers in its California Children’s Place Stores who paid for purchases using a credit card.
The Children’s Place class action settlement class reportedly consists of all persons, unless otherwise excluded, who between February 17, 2010 and June 19, 2013 purchased merchandise from a California The Children’s Place Retail Stores, Inc. store, used a credit card to make the purchase(s), and whose personal identification information, including, any telephone number or email address, was requested and recorded by Children’s Place.
The Children’s Place settlement reportedly provides class members with Merchandise Certificates for either $10 off of any merchandise purchase (with no required minimum purchase) at any Children’s Place retail or outlet store in California or 35% off of any purchases of merchandise at any Children’s Place retail or outlet store in California.
