Verizon Wireless Late Fee & Reconnect Fee Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

If you are a California current or former Verizon Wireless retail wireless customer who paid a $5 minimum late fee or paid a $15 reconnect fee during the class period, you may be entitled to benefits under a proposed Verizon Wireless class action settlement.

A proposed class action settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless (“Verizon Wireless” or “Verizon” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court Northern District of California (styled Joseph Ruwe and Elizabeth Orlando v. Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless,, Class Action Case No. No. 07-cv-03679 JSW), alleging, among other things, that Verizon Wireless violated California law when it charged Verizon Wireless customers a fixed $5.00 late fee and a $15.00 reconnect fee, according to the Verizon Wireless Late Fee & Reconnect Fee class action settlement agreement and motion for preliminary approval of the Verizon Wireless class action settlement.

The Verizon Wireless Late Fee & Reconnect Fee Settlement Class reportedly includes the following persons:

All California current and former Verizon Wireless retail wireless customers who paid a $5 minimum late fee or paid a $15 reconnect fee” during the Class or Sub-Class Period

Under the Verizon Wireless Late Fee & Reconnect Fee settlement, Verizon Wireless will pay $10,000,000 into a Settlement Fund that will be used to pay all class benefits, including payment to class members, attorney’s fees and costs, costs of class administration, and potential participation awards to the Named Plaintiffs.

    I had verizon for 5 year the bill got so high. I had to let it go.

    They always charges a $5.00 fee when I late to pay my billing, this is since 2008 up to present. My phone # is 650/465/6424.

    I’ve received late and reconnect fees since 03 at various times.

    I not only was charged late fee of $5 and $15 reconnect between 2009-2012, but was charged $5 for making a cash payment. Maybe something can be done about that.

    I have received a $5.00 late fee nearly every month for the past 9 years due to when the payment was due and when I received my pay. I have also had to pay a $15.00 reconnection fee a few times!! My telephone number is 760-9532597. Where do I obtain a claim form????? I sure haven’t found it on this site, although that’s what the postcard I received said!!

    i was a customer and had to pay late fees my account was 570593574-00002 and to this date they are charging me $85.00 I paid and have my repeipt for. The are talking about collection and it has been paid.

    I have paid the 5.00 late fee many times and have included myself in this class action settlement. I am still being charged this late fee and a tax on the late fee, which I find completely ridiculous. Is this tax they are charging me included in the settlement? When should we receive our individual settlement and will Verizon be forced to stop charging this late fee and tax?

    This company used to be good back in the day. Now, it’s all about the investors and the CEO’s.

    These jerks are up to their old tricks again. I received a check for the settlement last month and literally right after that, I start getting late fees on my Verizon account! Apparently, the 5 day grace period that they used to give us is no longer valid. At least that is what a customer service rep told me. I never pay my bill on the due date. Whether it’s because I forget or whatever. They always get their money so I never got charged late fees when this case was going on.

    Looks like they’re trying to get their 10,000,000 back to me. I’m so tired of getting screwed by these companies.

    Good day! I had a vverizon account with your company for years while living in new York City The bronx. I was always was overcharged and third parties were calling me all times of the night and day. My phone Number at the time was (718-379-4530), and here is my conformation number leaving the company, Verizon Returning Equipment Finance Dept. Conformation number is- ( 250959075) .this was the disconnection fees added too! Phone numbers were 800-483-2000., 800-567-6789. 12/04/2009, it should be $5000.00, if not more. They knew how to cal you asking for their money, I see no difference. ”Fair Exchang is, no Robbery”! thank you and hopefully we will recieve our Check soon in the mail.
