A class action settlement agreement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (“Toyota Motor” or “Toyota” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Central District of California (styled Carlos Collado et al v. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc., Class Action Case Nos. 2:10-cv-03113-R -RC and 2:10-cv-03124-R-SS), alleging, among other things, that 2006-2009 model year Toyota Prius vehicles factory installed with HID headlights are defective since the HID headlights sporadically shut off while the vehicle is driven and temporarily lose illumination from one or both headlights at recurring and unpredictable intervals, exposing them and others on the road to danger and often requiring costly repairs, according to the Toyota Prius High Intesity Discharge HID Headlight class action settlement agreement.
The Toyota Prius High Intesity Discharge HID Headlight settlement class reportedly includes the following persons, unless otherwise exluded:
All purchasers and/or lessees of any 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009 model year Toyota Prius vehicle originally factory equipped with genuine high intensity discharge (“HID”) headlights who reside in the United States.
The Toyota Prius High Intesity Discharge HID Headlight class action lawsuit settlement reportedly provides for a free warranty extension for HID headlight bulb and electronic control units (through the earlier of 5 years and 50,000 miles) and cash reimbursements to certain class members who paid for headlight repairs and who submit a valid and timely (by May 10, 2011) claim form.
