DeVry Securities Fraud Class Action Lawsuit Over Recruiting & Financial Aid Lending

DeVry DV Stock Purchasers File Securities Fraud Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against DeVry Over Alleged Misrepresentions Over Recruiting & Financial Aid Lending Practices.

A securities fraud class action lawsuit has been filed against educational service provider DeVry Inc. (“DeVry” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on behalf of a class consisting of purchasers of DeVry’s common stock (symbol: DV) between October 25, 2007 and August 13, 2010 (the “Class Period”), alleging that DeVry and certain DeVry officers and executives violated federal securities fraud laws, including the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, by allegedly issuing false and misleading financial statements relating to DeVry’s recruiting and financial aid lending practices, according to DeVry securities fraud class action lawsuit news reports.

Devry lied to me about what classes would transfer to *REAL universities. It also lied to me about the cost of attendance, as well as lied to me about my scholership funding and the fact that the reason I wasn’t getting funding was because they were not a public university. They are a FRAUD!

I attend devry university and am currently having related issues stating my funding is not adequate from my student loans as they enrolled me for more credits then I was approved for. Thay also state that I will now have to come up with 10,000 additional out of pocket to complete my degree as I am being charged more because I can only attend part time and my financial aid will not cover my schooling. I was also informed that devry has ties with Pixar animation which weighed heavily on my decision to attend devry……..this also is not true. Doesn’t this fall under gross criminal negligence as I was told what I “Wanted to hear” rather then the truth?
I am now over 20,000 in debt from the US department of education and not even considered a sophomore. I also was dropped from my course as I was not informed of new attendance policies as the email was sent to my spam email. No contact from any devry employee in regards to my attendance was done. No phone calls were returned from repeated attempts at the main campus in Chicago after speaking to a female multiple times to fight to stay in my class that i was only 2 weeks into that is ‘SELF PACED”. I even called back and said I missed a call hoping to speak to someone and the female even had the guts to say “See! I told you I would take care of you!” knowing well that no one called me. This is sickening that in this country we have to deal with this from our education providers that seem to be more interested in our federal aid checks then our education.

I worked for DeVry in Oklahoma City. It was the most awkward environment that I ever worked in. There, the A.D.A. BOWS!!!!! to the Director!!! The A.D.A said that if the Director sees you as a threat he starts pressuring. The Director did start pressuring for enrollments. I’m willing to take a lie detector test. I was humiliated, discriminated, and ridiculed in that place.

I was misled, manipulated, lied to, and coerced almost to a point of brainwashing. The school then led me to believe that when they didn’t provide classes I needed at the school if I hold on they would. By the time they did they also raised the prices. They promised I would graduate and be able to make more money. I was never able to graduate because my funding ran out, the classes promised were not provided, and by the time they had the classes I needed I couldn’t get a loan to cover them because I had hit the cap they said I would need to go to the school therefore my loan was maxed out. Now 8 years latter I am flat broke, can’t afford to fix my car, about to loose my home because I can’t afford the rent increase, and I still don’t have a degree. I’m running from Sallie Mae by taking classes at the local JC because of the DeVry loans and I’m so depressed I don’t know what to do. I can’t stop going to school or the loans kick in but, it’s cheaper to go to school and be able to pay the $270 3 times a year than the $500 a month Sallie Mae wants for degree I was manipulated into and promised but never received! I don’t want anything but to be able to stop running, to buy my family a home, and to spend time with my children before they are grown up. Life is going so fast and passing me by because of the 45 hrs a week at work and the 3 hours a day 4 days a week at school. My wife cries because she is so overwhelmed by all the insecurities and fears. Right now, I just hope we can afford somewhere to live, I can’t imagine being homeless with 2 small children…

I was also misled by Devry’s sales tactics – anything to get me to sign on the dotted line.
First of all, I was never told what it was going to cost to get my degree until however; they exhausted all of my student loans. I was then told how to lie on the forms, so I would qualify for the Pell Grant. Now I am unemployed, unable to find a job, because employers want a BA. Can’t finish College, because Devry absorbed all of my student loans. I can’t pay back my student loans, because I am unemployed.
I wish I could get a classaction suit against Devry because of how they misled me, how they are more interested in the STUDENT LOANS. my email is cinsupra@email.com

I was misled by DeVry. I have 100,000 in student loans. I was told I was in one program up to be something total different on my Degree. DeVry some how had taken loans out for 2 Associate Degree, which I believe is illegal. I need help. I would like to be part of this class action lawsuit.

The DeVry recruiter told me the field I wanted to go in, Networking communication and analyst, would have a starting salary of upwards of $60-80K a year. I was very specific that I was newly divorced and couldn’t travel far from where I am living now due to having kids. I was told “oh yeah, that’s in your area.” So I agreed and went to school. About 2 yrs into my degree I started searching for place to go work at in the field I was going to school for and come to find there is NOTHING even close to that amount of money in my area nor with the promise to get to the area I was quoted. I was making more money at my current job that did not require a degree, which if that were true I wouldn’t have needed to spend the money. I went ahead and continued in my education, having already put the time in and as I was going into my final semester DeVry called me and informed me I had no more money from Financial Aide and I would have to pay for that semester out of pocket and up front to continue my classes. Well, needless to say I did not have the $9K they were requesting. I informed them that when I was signing up for school and filing for financial aide that I was quoted a certain dollar amount of $35K would be more than enough to complete the degree I was going into. So I have basically wasted $40K and a little over 3 years of my life.
