A class action lawsuit has been filed against Symantec Corp. (“Symantec”) and Digital River, Inc. I bought a Hewlett Packard computer and tried to install McAfee, but Norton would not let me. My wife broke down and bought Norton against my warning. As soon as the Norton subscription ran out my computer started messing up badly. I bought Kaspersky because they are not preinstalled on computers forcing you to buy their products. I tried everything to get rid of Norton. I had to contact Hewlett Packard and they said to download the Symantec Norton removal tool but that did not work. THis is America not communist North Korea or China. I hate being forced into something. I will never buy another Hewlett Packard or any computer that comes with Norton. I would like to join the classaction lawsuit, however I do not wan t any money. I just want a computer that does not have Norton on it. I researched and found out that Hewlett Packard has a partnership with Norton. This is illegal collusion and an old fashioned shake down. This has cost me money and an inordinate amount of time. I hate NORTON!!!

The Norton software and pop up ads were almost impossible to get off the computer, finally after months of frustration I called a computer tech to get it off. Cost me time and money. I will never buy a Norton product, and no more HP computers.

They had me terrified that my computer was being invaded with all kinds of viruses. I have bought so many anti-virus programs it is not funny..Come to find out It was because of Norton. Had to have my computer overhauled and it cost me a lot of money.

I had been having problems with my laptop. One day I see the Norton homepage has taken over my screen. Popups all over the place, and now I see why. HP laptop with Norton installed. Keeps telling me that I MUST buy the Norton package to have my pc work correctly. Don’t they make enough money without having to rob from us?

I want nothing to do with Norton. My experience with them was bad! bad! bad!!!!! Just seeing their name makes me upset and want to scream. They should not be allowed to do business.

I have had the same problem as some of the above, and I do not like to have a company to force a purshase on me that I did not want, and then try to get them to cancel it off and get your money back on your credit card, I had to file a complaint with the credite card company to get it back

I also had numerous problems with the Norton system. I was forced to buy Norton because I was not allowed to use another anti-virus program. I was pressed for time due to online Masters Nursing program schedule. Do not like Norton at all, even though I bought the product I still had problems with viruses I could not get rid of.

I’ve been stuck with Norton for the last 15 years. Exemption being this last year when I finally got rid of it. Somehow, I ended up with multiple accounts on multiple machines and it was on auto pay so I didn’t know it renewed until after I already paid for it. Now I just use the free version of AVG and it actually works better than Norton did. Anybody having trouble with the e-mail notice and the link?

What does this mean to me…and is this a big waste of my time ??? I had Norton for many years till my computer tech told me it was a waste of my time and money…(of which I spent a lot on it….) I guess more money isn’t always a better service…

I too had problems with Norton in years ago after I downloaded it from digital river. the message I get when trying to install said I had to re download the program again and when I attempted to within 24 hours digital river refused to allow it saying I had to buy the extended coverage which I did and it still would not allow download. they denied refund I was forced to buy directly from Norton and wait for CD to arrive.

I had to report my problems to my credit card account. I too have purchased many anti-virus programs including Kaspersky and Symantec. All tests showed multi virus’ had invaded my computer to make me purchase their software.

A PC user since the first IBM hit the market, and probably one of the first in the valley to buy Norton when it had the friendly geek guy (Peter Norton I believe) on the cover – the product has progressively gotten worse year after year, so much so that I dropped my PC’s and bought a Mac. It’s really that bad – and it’s hard for an old guy like me to learn the new tricks, but I love my Mac – no more problems. I can’t do some of the old CAD stuff except emulating a PC environment (Parallels) which I do when I need to. Otherwise I don’t want to see another Windows Operating system, PC, or Norton ever again in my life. Those annoying MAC buddies were right, all these years. Norton made the PC unbearable to use.

Wow someone finally put it out there, Norton is bad, I bought a new system only to be annoyed by Norton trying to get me to buy their softwear , when I already get it free with my comcast service, but they just kept right on trying to sell it to me even after I wrote to the Norton company and explained this fact to them. I ended up buying a new system because they high jacked my Sony Viao and I can’t use it anymore. They kept calling me telling me that my system was in danger and I needed to let them fix it {for a price of course} I told them I did’t have that computer anymore. So Now I can not even turn the Sony on without popups and warnings and the system is so slow I can’t do anything with it. So sad that was an expensive system. So now what the Lawyers get 90% of the profits from our pockets and we all get what $30 or less. Too funny when they have these law suits the public in it never get a fair share or even enough to replace their computers from all the damage caused by these companies.

I am so surprise that I experience that same thing . count me in now I am angry these companies are getting away with too much. Now its being exposed

McAfee is so much kinder to use than the Norton I previously had. I think Norton got too big for their britches.
