Samsung Refrigerator Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Filed Over Alleged Frozen Coil Defect

Samsung Refrigerator Owners File Class Action Lawsuit Complaint Against Samsung Over Alleged Defect That Causes Refrigerator Coils To Freeze Over.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereafter “Samsung” or “Defendants”) in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (styled Jeff Weske, Jo Anna Frager and Darryl Myhre v. Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Civil Action Case No. 2:10-cv-04811-WJM -MF) alleging, among other things, that Samsung sold refrigerators containing a defect that causes the refrigerators’ coils to freeze over, resulting in the failure of the refrigerator to cool, which has caused consumers to suffer damages for lost groceries, spoilage and repairs, according to class action lawsuit news reports.

The Samsung refrigerator class action lawsuit complaint reportedly alleges that certain Samsung French door, side-by-side and bottom freezer refrigerators (model numbers RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW) the refrigerators are designed and manufactured with heated coils that are intended to prevent excess frost from developing in the back of the machine, but instead of preventing frost, the coils allegedly allow frost and ice to build up in the refrigerators until the ice clogs and/or disables the machine’s fans, making it impossible for the fans to work to keep the machine cool.

The Samsung refrigerator coil class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following putative class members, unless otherwise excluded:

All persons or entities residing in the United States who own, or have owned, Samsung refrigerator models RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW and/or any other Samsung refrigerator model containing a defect that causes the refrigerator’s coils to ice over and the refrigerator to stop cooling.

    Samsung model RF267AEPN
Freezer/Ice maker not working at all. Fridge set at coldest temp and barely adequate.

Please add me and/or this machine to any class action.

    Thanks

Bought my RF26x series at Lowes 4 years ago. This is the first time my Coils in the back of the unit froze up. Defrosting it now. Please add me to the lawsuit

  • Michelle August 29, 2014, 11:10 am

This is the same issue I have with my RF266ABPN. Samsung customer service conveniently said this is not a known problem to them, when a quick google search will tell you differently. I wish my model was included in your lawsuit.

  • Claire Winans-Keech August 30, 2014, 3:07 pm

I have the Samsung RB217ABPN with the same problems. It started with water draining into the crisper drawers. Then the coils froze up so there was ice inside on the back wall hanging out of the breather holes. I was able to get the replacement parts but now it will not cool properly. I am so angry to have spent so much money for it to last only a few years. I wish to be added to the suit also.

    • Rebeccca Vagle November 17, 2014, 3:30 pm

I’m having that issue as well!! I’m so frustrated! You pay 2 grand for this referigerator and it doesn’t even last 5 years. I have ice building up on the back of my fridge, it freezes my vegetables and I have to suction out water from the bottom of my fridge all of the time.

  • gg meredith September 1, 2014, 4:10 pm

Have Samsung RF26XAEBP with the same problems Bought it at Lowes 3 yard and 9 months ago. Please add me and this model to your suit also.

  • Lloyd Reid September 1, 2014, 8:24 pm

We purchased model RF26VABBP from LOWEs around four years ago and we have the same problem with it freezing up and not cooling. We have to unplug it let it defrost then plug it back up. It has also developed a bad order that won’t go away. Please add us and this model to the law suit as well.

  • Jen September 2, 2014, 8:28 pm

We have a Samsung model number RF263AEBP bought in 2011. We have been experiencing the same problem. Please add me and this model to your suit as well. Thank you.

  • freda olive September 3, 2014, 9:58 am

I purchased Samsung RF26XA2RS/XAA from Lowes along with an extended warrenty. I have had my laminare floor ruined from water leaking down side of bottom freezers drawer. Repairman cleared drain and added heater probe and replaced new cover in March. Same problem again. My warrenty expires in November and am in a panic that I will have further problems. Please add me to the class action.

  • Rajan Mathew September 3, 2014, 3:00 pm

I have a RS267LASH. It gave me same and many more issues relating to the exchange coil. Everything was fine until the extended warranty I had with Lowe’s. They are cool now, they cleared themselves saying its no more their problem. “Samsung have to deal with it” please add me in the suit.

Having the same trouble with a fridge we purchased in April of 2013, I went online to find out how to clean coils and found class action lawsuit information instead. I went to the website for the District Court in New Jersey, got a phone number and found out you have to write a letter to the judge to request being added to the case. Website is here: http://www.njd.uscourts.gov/court-info/court-locations/newark. Judges for the case are Martini and Falk, you can get their names off the website. Write a letter with documentation about your purchase and any repair history, and mail to the Newark address. They will want the case number: Civil Action Case No. 2:10-cv-04811-WJM -MF. I am hoping to exchange at Sears on a defective merchandise policy; we will see. Otherwise, I will be joining the case myself.

    • Grace Ochoa September 18, 2014, 12:02 pm

      Hello Joyce,
I purchased my “lemon” also through Sears in March of 2010. Any luck with Sears exchanging due to defect?

      • Kelly Anderson October 11, 2014, 1:28 am

Sears and Samsung aren’t in the same line (apparent), very different. Sears may need to disassociate themselves with a feather of a flock of not worthy sales to USA/?. KENMORE has always been their sale, well respected … (in my family)… i.e…. All of my kitchen appliances now are KENMORE (Sears) 🙂 But with a slither of the tongue … My stainless still Kenmore side by side 2005 isn’t performing and I have notified Sears regarding this fact. 120.00 labor per hour, 95.00 trip charge, not including parts (per Sears 3rd Party Contact… I am looking into my home phone call list but can/will try to get this info. should need be).
Correct, I agree that a company should be held accountable for its products it sells and services to their consumers (responsibility, name is on the line) .
I have 2 issues with my Samsung appliances….Problems at 5 yr. , Problem again, … Expect repair appliance issues, and worst of all…. Not worth a dame! Trash it. Goodwill … do not bother, or give someone else your headache experience.

~ Answers need to be addressed. I appreciate this action!

I have the same problem with model RS265TDBP bought 3 years ago at Best Buy and has been serviced 3 times.

  • Kathryn Gardella September 5, 2014, 10:55 pm

I purchased a home that had a samsung double door refrigerator and the freezer would not get cold enough. Had it serviced costing 300.00 plus dollars. Within a week the same problem occurred ( freezer motor fan) had service return at no charge. Not even a year later the same problem.. This fridge is a lemon and on its way to dump. If I could get reimbursed for repair, inconvience and loss of food three times , that would be great

  • RICHARD RYAN September 6, 2014, 10:36 pm

MY THIRD TIME TO DEFROST THIS PIECE OF JUNK. MODEL RS263BBWP. I’LL NEVER BUY A SUMSUNG PRODUCT AGAIN.

Bought the RS267 refrigerator at Lowes in December 2010. Now it’s completely unoperational. Please add me to the class action.

  • Renee Robinson September 10, 2014, 10:10 pm

This is round 2 of freeze up for my 6 year old Samsung RS275ACWP. 2 repairmen came out and told to defrost and they would come back. They found out about the issue with this lawsuit and advised me to research it. They canceled the third appointment I had with them. I thought I had fixed it on my own. Then, just as I was finally getting all my condiment collection renewed and the fridge full again, the fridge started making that awful fan on ice sound.

I am now trying to unplug the thing, see if it defrosts enough to limp through until I can figure my next step. I will plug it back up in a couple of hours, so wish me luck. It can’t be any worse for the food than loading it into those coolers tonight.

Samsung told me there was no lawsuit and that I just needed an authorized dealer. I will call tomorrow and talk to them. Not feeling hopeful.

We lived out of coolers the first time this happened and then I got sick of chasing down ice. That melted a wad of cash too.

Same here. What a mess up, don’t you think?!

  • Roger Chidester September 12, 2014, 2:31 am

Purchased Samsung model RF4287HA French Door with freezer at bottom. I called Samsung and all they told me was the refrigerator was out of warranty but they could send a tech. The coils froze over on 9/11/2014. I am a technician so I took the cover off the coils which have the fans mounted on it. One fan was completely frozen over and the other had ice build up causing the impellers to hit it and make quit a noise. I manually defrosted the coils and removed all the ice from the fans. I will probably have to do this again in the future. I think maybe the reason the coils froze over is if the lower freezer drawer is completely full the ventilation slots in the door can be completely covered in the rear of the door. The day before the coils froze over I loaded the drawer to the max not realizing I had covered the vents. It is a bad design because the drawer still closed so I did not over fill it.

  • Joyce September 12, 2014, 8:21 am

People, these websites cannot add you to their lawsuit. You have to add yourself by writing to the judges involved in New Jersey. See my post made Sept 4.

  • Amy September 12, 2014, 8:44 am

PLEASE include my 2 year old worthless refrigerator model
RF217acpn. I have taken it apart twice, defrosted and removed the back panel to fix the water freezing up and collecting in the veg drawers. From all the blogs, it is obvious Samsung is aware and did nothing to help the consumers. Thankful for the comments and videos from the public to help resolve the issue. No more Samsung products!

    • Cindy Tressler October 1, 2014, 7:00 pm

Forgot to mention the water collects in the vegetable drawers and freezes under them.

Samsung says not under warranty. Called local repair person and it may cost me aroung 400 dollars to fix it. Samsung refrigerator failed just after 4 years. This is deceiving the people. Please add me.

  • Joseph Chan September 17, 2014, 12:54 am

Please add me to lawsuit as well. Have a RF267AERS and have to defrost every two months from the fan hitting the ice. Have been living out of coolers the past 4 years since we purchased this junk in 2010.

Please add me to the lawsuit! We purchased our Samsuck RS267TDRS from Lowes in December 2010 and the refrigerator will no longer cool consistently.

  • KR Wise September 21, 2014, 10:44 am

Purchased a Samsung french door refrigerator in 2009 from Sears. At almost exactly 4 yrs, it stopped cooling. Board put in at our cost of almost $300, did not help, weeks later, they put in compressor under warranty. This worked for 10 months and we are out again, new board at our cost and it still did not work. Now, they say it needs sensors. We have lost 2 refrigerators full of food in this 29 cubic foot beast. The ice melted and flooded the kitchen the second time. All in all, we have been out of business with this fridge for 7 weeks within the past 10 months. The repair company has to order parts which takes a week, then they call to set up appt which takes another week to get them back. It goes on and on. Samsung Customer Service has bounced us around all over, and their incessant “have a nice day” is like giving you the middle finger. All we want is what we paid $2,300 for which is a working refrigerator. I am beginning to think that the repair companies know of these problems and say nothing as they make money. Model #RFG297AABP/XAA.

  • KR Wise September 21, 2014, 10:46 am

Already submitted a narrative but please add me to lawsuit.

  • Hugo Garnica September 21, 2014, 5:05 pm

I bought a Samsung RF267AERS and is constantly frosting over. Can I be Added?

  • Leng Vang September 21, 2014, 5:17 pm

Wow!! I thought mine was unique with this problem. I purchased a Samsung RS267TDRS/XAA from Sears in July 2010. It just died in the same frostbit as everyone here’s in exactly 4 years 2 months. I think mine is the compressor. If I kick the compressor couple times before plug in, it works for about 10-20 minutes before it dies (error 22 E). Checked the circuit board (tested relays) they worked. When starting up, relays are clicking but compressor and coil fan not humming. Talked to Samsung support, they basically said it needs service. I’m not holding my breath. I should’ve went with Worpool or Kenmore back then as I was purchasing the entire kitchen appliance and everything I bound was Kenmore except the frig, decided to go with Samsung — big mistake now. Well I guess I will go back to get that Kenmore now. If this law suit ever get off the ground, count me in.

  • Melissa Arrington September 23, 2014, 9:44 am

I bought the Samsung french door fridge in 2012 and the freezer started icing up and freezing the door shut at 9 months old. I had checked consumer reports and saw no mention of defective coil and evaporation process. Samsung won’t fix it now because it is out of warranty. they also will not admit to the design flaw and defective operation. what recourse do I have now? I was not notified of the lawsuit, I looked for it’s existence online and found it.

  • Elisa Maranzana September 24, 2014, 11:10 am

What actions do I need to take in order to joint the class action suit re Samsung refrigerators (coils freezing up)?

    Thank you,
    E. Maranzana

  • John Hakin September 25, 2014, 6:06 am

2nd go around with freeze up! Add me to the list please.

  • Karen Bochek September 25, 2014, 8:53 pm

I have the same problems but my model number doesn’t match if you can add me to the list model# RF266AAWP

  • Melissa Arrington September 29, 2014, 3:55 pm

Add me to the class action suit and also Renee Bennett.
Renee Bennett bought her Samsung in 2010 and has the same icing up and freezer issues.
It seems that some large companies are indifferent to customer service and building quality products.

  • Enrique Olivas October 1, 2014, 7:13 am

I have a 6 year old rs267lash model and I’ve spent close to $1,000 in service calls and I still have the freezing / frosting evaporator issue. This is my breaking point and I will be putting this junk in the garage and will have to buy a new fridge! Never again will I consider Samsung refrigerator’s – EVER!

Please add me to this class action lawsuit!

  • Cindy Tressler October 1, 2014, 6:53 pm

I bought a new Samsung model RB215ABBP at Lowes 3 years ago. 7-28-2010. I called Samsung up and they sent a repair man out and he said it had the same icing up and freezer issues. I had to pay him $103.08 for the trip and he said repairs would cost $428.10 on 10-1-14. One week earlier I had to buy a freezer due to it not working after loosing all my food. I called them several times and it seems that some large companies are indifferent to customer service and building quality products. I will not buy Samsung again. I want to be a part of this Class Action for a new refrigerator should not have this problem.

    • Jessica Grieco October 2, 2014, 3:19 pm

I have a Samsung RF267AERS french door model that is only four years old. First I would get a large amount of water build-up under the large drawer.that was after having it for 2 years. Now, the refrigerator freezes up. Had two repairmen come out. First guy was replacing parts hoping it would fix the problem. Second repairman came and said it was a drainage problem so he put a copper wire around the heating element and 12 inches of the wire down the drain. I thought that was it until days later my ice was melting and then no ice at all. Now, it’t back to freezing up in the refrigerator and no ice at all. Repairman said he can replace the mainPC but that it would be expensive. Not sure I should do that or just buy a new refrigerator.

  • Berrie brown October 2, 2014, 10:20 pm

I just bought a samsung it did not work from day one. All my food had to be trashed Home Depot is going to replace it and I will buy the extended warranty. But add me to the class action lawsuit

  • Brandon Snider October 3, 2014, 9:15 am

I’m having the same freezing problem, first started with large deposits in the bottom of freezer then the refrigerator, the fridge is not even 2 years old yet

  • Kathryn October 3, 2014, 11:56 am

Please add me also to this lawsuit. We researched or so we thought we were buying quality.
We bought a RF267AERS from Sears, dec. 2010. We paid 1745.00(including taxes). So was this after the lawsuit was filed? A year ago my frig started leaking and so I did research on the internet saw all the troubleshooting etc. we try to fix things ourselves, so we tried a few and it stopped. Then 6 months ago started freezing in the back, ice-maker quit and frozen puddles under the drawer, freeze and melts. Please let’s file a class action law suit! The more I read about the problems the more I think we should. How do we? I will be writing to my attorney general in Arkansas.

  • Les October 4, 2014, 6:54 am

This has been absolute hell! You pay so much thinking you’re getting a quality product and this is what you get! RF217ABPN Please add me to your lawsuit

  • Jeff October 4, 2014, 11:31 am

I have the exact issue. My produce does not keep and my refrigerator coils freeze over. It stops the fan and freezes shut the cooling compartment, around the coils, in the refrigerator, impairing the cooling in the refrigerator. My milk produce constantly goes bad before it should. My model is the RF267ABRS. I paid for an overpriced product because it was stainless steel with french doors and the freezer on the bottom and got a product which doesn’t perform it’s rudimentary function.

  • Darrell Seven October 4, 2014, 12:29 pm

I have for three years owned a Model RS267TDRS in my Vacation Rental where it has iced coils that freeze the fan and make the refrigerator stop cooling and therefore costing me guests who expect to have a refrigerator that works. It takes two days of shuting down the ref. , opening the doors and letting this thing to melt for the ref. to again star working . This happens once every 3 to months. They need to stand up to their faulty product. Help.. Darrell Seven

  • Donny October 5, 2014, 10:34 am

MySamsung RF267 fridge is about 4 1/2 years old purchased in December 2009 at Best Buys. The problem started as soon as the warranty expire. Large amounts of water dripping under the big crisper drawer creating a large sheet of ice.The ice was so thick that it will freeze up the water reservoir,so I have no water come out of the dispenser. The evaporator coil will freeze over and water will drip into freezer side.
I have to unplug the fridge and defrost overnight.I have suffer major food loss water damage to my carpet and kitchen cabinets,at least 3 times in the last 4 1/2 years I owned this fridge.Last week was the final straw water was pouring out of the icemaker melting all the ice cubes and dripping out of the front door, flooding my entire kitchen. Please add me to the list. Here is a list of parts that I have replace over the years not counting Labor and the cleaning up after the mess it makes and loss of food.
Replaced thermal switch, duo water valve, crisper drawer, water reservoir and ice maker with drawer.

  • doyle crager October 11, 2014, 5:15 pm

coil freezing up, ice maker problems, sensor problems. spent well over 500.00 on their product. had to buy small refrigerator just to keep food from spoiling. should not be having these problems on a refrigerator that is not yet 2 years old. i feel i should be reimbursed for all the headaches i have had. if problem is not corrected i might have to scrap it for junk steel.

    • KR Wise October 11, 2014, 5:40 pm

We were not going to put another dime into this piece of junk. Sent our paperwork into the New Jersey court handling the suit. Address is listed at beginning of all of this. Received a letter back that they directed it to the attorneys handling the case. In the meantime, we have all the paperwork and repair bills, etc. Junked the refrigerator and bought another French Door one by Whirlpool with an extended warranty. So far, we are very pleased with their products and their customer service is good thus far. Used Home Depot this time and not Sears again. We live right next door to Lowe’s but they never have any help in the appliance department so drive across town where Home Depot gave us good service and delivery.

I bought a Samsung French door refrigerator 3 years ago and have non stop problems with water leaking inside ,coils freezeing over , drain freezing shut. I want to be part of the class action lawsuit. this is absolutely the biggest most expensive piece of crap I have ever purchased. I have had Kenmore refrigerators for 20 years with no problems. I will go back to Kenmore.

    • KR Wise October 15, 2014, 8:11 am

For people buying Kenmore appliances. Be sure to check on the company that Kenmore contracted to do the product. They use different manufacturers. Some time if familiar with the product, you can tell by looking or possibly by a serial number. The people who work there “should” be able to tell you also but be you own best detective.

Have the typical issue with water flooding the bottom of the fridge. Went through samsung about repairs.. of course it is not a known problem. Had the repairmen out today and with in hours there is still water starting to collect… Please add me to the class action law suit. i am not going to dump money into this if it is a lost cause…

  • Mark October 16, 2014, 8:27 pm

Constantly defrosting the refrigerator. Samsung certified technician stated that the design is flawed and only option is to defrost every few months. Technician stated he would never buy a Samsung refrigerator. In other words, junk.

I’ll never buy another Samsung product. They cheated me out enough money. Fooled me once, shame on you. Fooled me twice, not going to happen.

  • dorothy borrero October 17, 2014, 2:28 pm

I also bought model rf266abpn I’m on my 3rd ice maker, finally it works. the refrigerator has to be defrosted every 9 months. The fridge was bought at lowes in s.c. 5 years ago. Please add me to the class action lawsuit.

  • Susan Rufo October 17, 2014, 5:31 pm

Our Samsung twin cooling fridge is 3 and a half years old. We first had the issue described above 3 months ago. We defrosted the fridge freezer and got it back working but now are experiencing the issue again. Finally have to have the Samsung repair man come which by the way is going to take 5 days since we live in Massachusetts and the closest service person is in New Jersey. We have a 10 month old and a 3 year old, this is ridiculous. Add me to the lawsuit!

    • Mark October 17, 2014, 5:37 pm

Susan Rufo, I do not know where you live in MA but last I knew Hunter Appliance Sales & Service Inc. in Littleton MA was an authorized repair company. Also consider contacting the MA attorney General.

  • Dean Wright October 18, 2014, 1:44 pm

I have the same problems with freezer vents blocking and causing fan to make a loud noise. Defrosted once and it stopped for about 1 month but frost has built up and now the noise has begun again. Please add Rs261m to lawsuit and me. Less than 2 years old

  • Connor October 20, 2014, 12:22 am

Fridge now freezes up just about every month!!!

  • Chris Dowd October 20, 2014, 12:06 pm

I have a Samsung side by side model RS255BASB which is doing the same thing. I am at my wits end trying to figure out what to fix or replace. I have defrosted and repaired it many times. It is tiresome and with the compressor in great shape I hate to dispose of what was about a $2500 investment. I find it very hard to get answers about the machine.

    Chris

    • KR Wise October 20, 2014, 2:12 pm

Chris, know how you feel. We junked ours and joined the lawsuit. Had put too much into the thing and lost 2 refrigerators full of food. It is such a pleasure to have one that works properly and not worry that every time you open it it will be warm inside or water dripping. I do know one guy who was selling off parts from his.

  • doyle crager October 20, 2014, 2:30 pm

still having problems with our refrigerator: not keeping temperature constant. tech came out many times to replace sensors and other parts. ive had it with samsung, never again if i can help it.

  • doyle crager October 20, 2014, 3:04 pm

what type and brand did you buy. fed up with mine also, not yet 2 years old and have had many problems.. ready to sell for scrap metal

  • Barry R. Miller October 20, 2014, 5:10 pm

I have a three year old Samsung Refrigerator Model RF217ABWD and the ice maker does not work again. Replace it once already and the replace one does not work already. Additionally the evaporator coils are not defrosting so the ice formed on them is melting into and below the vegetable bins on the bottom of the refrigerator.

Please add me to the class action suit!

  • Bill Mlkvy October 20, 2014, 5:47 pm

I would like to be reimbursed for the service costs and loss of food costs….due to the over freeze up at the twin cooling fan in my NEW samsung refridgerator.
    Thank you,
    Bill Mlkvy

  • Tim Looper October 20, 2014, 6:39 pm

Same here frozen coils, water in bottom of refrigerator.Total waste of hard earned money and Samsung will do nothing. Will never buy anything made by Samsung.Add me to the lawsuit please!

  • KR Wise October 21, 2014, 10:11 am

Doyle: We bought a french door Whirlpool. Decided to go back to old days and did not get the water/ice dispenser. This one has ice in bottom freezer which give us so much more room in the refrigerator part and now we don’t have frozen stuff under ice maker like the Samsung. This unit does have a filtered water button inside left door which we like. Really looks clean w/o all the stuff on front. Wife is very happy. Ditto for us on Samsung products, never again. Also, have you noticed how much floor space the stores give to Samsung–wonder if they make more money with those sales?

  • Bobby Colston October 21, 2014, 10:37 am

I have a Samsung RB215LASH refrigerator and had a repairman come out 5 times and he finally said he could not fix it. Called another repairman, and he said the same thing. The refrigerator coil freezes over and not cooling, water in bottom of the frig; therefore we have damages for lost groceries, spoilage and repair. Please add me to any class action lawsuit. I just hope that my Samsung 4K TV doesn’t have these same issues.

  • doyle crager October 21, 2014, 2:31 pm

we too have gotten some good feedback about whirlpool. finally a samsung rep came and looked at the refrigerator, took some pictures and was going to send them to samsung. spent way too much money on a product that is not yet 2 years old. hoping samsung will do something about their defective refrigerator.

  • KR Wise October 22, 2014, 2:53 pm

Doyle: Hope you get some action from Samsung. They shoved us all over. Talked about a buy back on the fridge. We were sent to another place and after 3 or 4 different times, they said tough luck. And, or course their usual, have a nice day. One thing we have noticed right away is that our food is keeping so much longer. The temp was obviously not consistent. I used to complain that the milk was going bad before the dates, not any more. It is so pleasant to not be constantly emptying out that refrigerator.

  • doyle crager October 22, 2014, 4:16 pm

kr having a hard time understanding your comment, did samsung replace your refrigerator or did you go buy another refrigerator? this will probably be my first and last samsung refrigerator. their customer service has been terrible

    • KR Wise October 22, 2014, 6:20 pm

Doyle: No, they did not replace the refrigerator. One guy said they might, sent us to another office, and then another, and then another. In the end, it was just a run around. We junked it and bought a Whirlpool. With you, will never buy another Samsung product. AND, so true, their Customer Service is the worst. Sent all of our information to the New Jersey Court handling the class action suit. We kept copies of all the repairs, etc. Be sure to sign up for the suit. You need to do that and not just say it on this site that you want to be in it. Address is up in the beginning of all these comments. Good Luck. Perhaps you will be the exception to the rule.

  • johnM October 26, 2014, 2:21 pm

  • Daryl October 26, 2014, 4:44 pm

  • Richard Roberts October 27, 2014, 11:31 am

Bought my POS Samsung MN/ RS265TDRS/XAA 02 at Best buy 2 yrs ago and have now had the freezing issues on mine.
    Lost $$ in food product.
Trying to get parts shipped to my house as we speak.
NEVER have I had a Refrigerator go bad in two years.
Samsung knows about this issues and has Done NOTHING to fix the issues.
Samsung CS says have . You tried to do this/that.. Its a manufacturer defect and should be recalled period. I am so displeased with this product, NEVER again will I buy a Samsung product.

    • Jon Wolk March 1, 2015, 1:45 pm

      HI Richard,
Same issue and same model for me. Did you have any luck or have the issues continued? I am seriously considering just buying a new refrigerator all together. If you can let me know I would really appreciate it.
      Thanks, Jon

  • Tammie Whitley October 28, 2014, 8:51 am

I have a RF263AEBF last yr the ice maker stop working. Today a loud humming sound from inside- ice comming out the vent holes ! I see more than me with this problem! God be with us all! Many Smiles and blessings from Ga.

    • Tammie Whitley October 28, 2014, 9:00 am

add me to the laws suit ! Not happy with Samsung RF263 series ! Got to go defrost my frig — in the 21 century!!!!

  • Tricia Ater October 31, 2014, 9:00 am

I bought the RF217aAWCP French Door in Nov. 2011. I had constant problems with the crisper drawers filling with water. Then this week the motor started running loud and it quit cooling altogether. I just spent over $400 to have the back panel, evaporator and fan piece replaced. The tech advised that he does the same repair over and over again and it is a known quality issue. When I called Samsung customer service, I was told 1) they have no complaints filed in their database on this model and 2) I probably was keeping too much food in it. Unbelievable!

    • KR Wise October 31, 2014, 10:45 am

Be sure to go to the beginning of this site and get the address so you can be included in the class action suit. Just saying you want to join here is not enough. This will be heard in New Jersey.

  • Darrell Seven November 1, 2014, 10:11 am

I have already made comment about my Samsung ref that freezes on the ref side about every 4 months at considerable cost and frustration. My hope is that samsung is ultimately found guility of providing a ref. flawd and costly. Darrell Seven

  • Amy Tomlinson November 4, 2014, 5:09 pm

Model RF267AERS has froze up twice. Had to pay to fix the first time. Fixed it myself by watching a YOUTUB video. I don’t want to do this every year

  • Steven Dye November 5, 2014, 2:36 pm

Would love to be added to the class action lawsuit. I too have the exact same problem.

  • Michael November 8, 2014, 9:09 am

Have a RB215LASH that pools water which freezes below the left crisper drawer in the fridge. Items in fridge sometimes freeze but food in bottom freezer are soft and don’t freeze. Had attempted fixes 3 times. Only thing that helps is to unplug and let it thaw once a month.

  • m warner November 9, 2014, 9:51 pm

I have an RS267LASH. The frig side will not cool. I spent $450.00 on repairs and it’s still not working. My “samsung” repairman ordered parts 2 different times. Both by the model and serial numbers. Samsung shipped wrong both times. You would think that they know exactly what parts go in their products.
PLEASE ADD ME TO THE CLASS ACTION LIST.

  • Craig Button November 10, 2014, 10:54 pm

Have had our samsung side by side for two years and have been dealing with this freezing up issue for at least the last 8 months. Add me to the list very frustrated.

  • Ray November 11, 2014, 2:30 pm

Bought my Samsung in Feb 2012 and just started having the same issues. My model number is RS267TDWP. Called Samsung and Sears and neither will help me because the model number is not listed in the class action suit.

  • Omar November 11, 2014, 7:46 pm

I have the same problem with my Samsung refrigerator RS267

  • Maria Mendieta November 12, 2014, 12:20 pm

  • elaina dautrich November 14, 2014, 3:35 pm

  • Hope ateke November 14, 2014, 7:18 pm

I bought a Samsung RS255BASB in 2006, at Best Buy. The refrigerator stopped working just a few months afterwards. Best Buy technician came and fixed it, luckly, I had an extended warranty. A few months later, it stopped working again. The issue was ice-build up on everporator. Luckly, my extended warranty was still in force so they came and fixed it. Now the refrigerator has stopped working again and unfortunately, my extended warranty has elapsed. Called a technician but was advised to call Samsung. I am lost, my food in the refrigerator has gone bad. I have suffered this misfortune, too many times. Please include me in the class action.

  • Annette Stoker November 17, 2014, 12:54 pm

I have model RF265ABPN. I am having the same problems with my samsung refrigerator freezing up. I have also had to repair and replace ice maker 3 times and it isn’t working now.

  • Heather Dowland November 18, 2014, 10:37 pm

I have a Samsung RF 268 bought in 2011. The fan started making a loud noise and then stopped working. The unit will now not get colder than 48 degrees. All my food is rotting. Realized the whole back panel is frozen and trying to defrost it. I bought three Samsung appliances at the same time. My dishwasher and microwave stopped working with in the first year. Come on Samsung I thought you were a better company than this. I will never buy a Samsung product again.

Please add me to the class action lawsuit.

    • Mark November 19, 2014, 6:02 am

Everyone should contact their state Attorney General to complain. In my case a repair technician stated that it is a fundamental design flaw. Yet when I contacted Samsung they said no problems or issue with my model. Samsung will not admit to any problem.

  • Tim Alexander November 20, 2014, 10:42 am

I am having the same freezing issues. Please add me to class action.

  • Renee Johnson November 22, 2014, 9:44 pm
